    Good Points: Absolutely nothing

Bad Points: Absolutely everything but the sewage topped it off!!!

General comments: This was an absolutely awful hotel.
We booked Haymarket and Buchan Hotel through hotelclub.com for 1 night at a rate of ' 276 (it was a rugby match weekend) months before we were due to go. We booked 2 rooms as there were 3 of us, me, my boyfriend and my Dad. When we got there we were told there wasn't 2 rooms available, and they were giving us a 4-bed room! Hardly appropriate and definitely not what we'd paid that exorbitant rate for!

We made our feelings perfectly clear to the girl in the hotel and she said there was nothing she could do and rang the owner to ask him to speak to us. He said that he was doing us a favour by letting us stay for just 1 night, that they normally have a 3 night minimum and no hotel in Edinburgh ever sells just 1 night. I told him that I knew that wasn't true as there were thousands of people coming to Edinburgh from Dublin that day for the rugby match and only staying 1 night. He told me where to go, basically calling me a liar. He said they never had 2 rooms available that night and they had told hotelclub.com the same. I said that nobody had contacted us and in fact I had rang the hotel directly 5 weeks prior to that to see if I could book the Friday night as well and was told by a male on the phone that they could only offer 1 twin room for the Friday but he would check with the sister hotel to see if they could accommodate the 2nd room, but he confirmed in no uncertain terms that the 2 rooms were fine for the Saturday. The owner told me I must have misunderstood, which is absolute rubbish, it couldn't have been clearer.

Anyway, we had no choice but to take the hotel as there were no other rooms in Edinburgh at a reasonable rate that night. Hotelclub were useless in trying to help also.
