The Gordon Bennett bar / gastro pub is a great place in Surbiton to have an after work drink during the week or even at the weekend. It looks 'quaint' from the outside which typifies the Maple Road area and inside the decor is relaxed although space is a little limited so tables are packed in. Gordon Bennett's can get very busy so if you would like a seat for the night I'd recommend you get there earlier. The wine and beer selection is good and the staff have always been polite and efficient. They do do food which is pretty tasty but is a litle expensive. I would however not recommend that you take small children here as it can get noisy and I think its aimed at the 25-40 London commuters age group, probably without children. In this respect I guess it is trying to be quite cool but in a quiet way so if you like something a little more mainstream then go to the Grove a little further down the road or one of the many pubs on Surbiton highstreet.
