When you turn up you don't learn anything new. Repetetive you see. Too many in class so didn't get much teaching time. Expensive. Especially when child is I'll, no refunds :b Photo shoot was an expensive farce. Kept waiting after warm up in pool so babies overstimulated and tearful. Then shove em under and snap any old picture. Want to come back for a re-shoot? "Sure that's another 45 quid please, money, money money!!!! :)" (read more)

I have been swimming with water babies with both my daughter (now 3 1/2) and my son (now 22 months) since they were 3 months old. It has and still is a great experience to see how they develop in the pool whilst also teaching them some great safety skills for when they are older. The first few months can be quite daunting when Lear ing how to take your child underwater but you soon get used to it (as do they). At times lessons have been hard work when they struggle with the "water wabbles"... (read more)

It's sad to see someone was disappointed by waterbabies when I have had 2 positive experiences. My little girl loves swimming, she had her off days when teething or suchlike but overall the lessons built both her and my confidence in the water together. I had fun with the other mummies and we built up an excellent support network through those tough stages in the first year. One of my mummy friends couldn't put her face in the water to start with but like her lo is now a waterbaby which... (read more)

Initially I thought WB was a great company and really enjoyed the classes. However, very quickly the emphasis seemed to shift away from fun in the water and focused more and more on how many times you could submerge your child during a half hour class. Though my baby didn't cry when dunked she certainly didn't enjoy it and I just don't think it is as worthwhile as WB would have you believe. They try and pack too much into each class so you really don't have time to just enjoy it. The... (read more)

I am sat here shocked reading through the previous reviews, as I have nothing but good things to say about Water Babies. My daughter and I started swimming with Water Babies when she was just four months old. I totally disagree with the review where somewhere said they just continually get you to 'dunk' your baby. The first time My daughter went under the water the instructor told us of the several different ways that the baby may react. My Daughter screamed the house down,as I expected,... (read more)

I started going to waterbabies when my little girl was 8 weeks old, not only for her but for me too. From our very first lesson we both absolutely loved it. It's great for my little girl to learn water saftey as well as swimming and she loves the songs and water toys and it's great for me to meet other mum's and get some exercise. I know it seems the cost is quite high but once you go you can see why, the staff are incredibly knowledgeable and friendly and always try to accommodate... (read more)

Me and my son loves attending waterbabies it's great I was so scared of letting my little boy go swiming and putting him under water but waterbabies has helped me through that we have so better confidence now. Yes it is a bit expensive but its worth it i do think waterbabies should give out certificates/ badges though as other swim lessons do (read more)

We were very excited to start the lessons but our venue was not upto the job. Private members club pool whose very small changing rooms serviced their members gym as well as the pool. Had to change my baby on the floor that was wet and slippy. Huge Health and Safety risk in my opinion of slipping and falls getting up and down from a wet floor when you and your baby are wet. Only one playpen which could accommodate two babies lying down. What you do if your on your own god only knows I... (read more)

I am also surprised with other negative reviews. Me an son really enjoy classes and they are worth every penny. Yes,there is lots of repetition and routine but this is the only way to teach little ones so eventually they do things automatically. We have exellent instructor. We did nearly three terms and my son learned so much...he loves it so i do. Classes are well organised and babies are prepared before they go under water. We have lots of fun at the same time. I would highly recommend... (read more)

Water Babies are set up for maximum finanical gain, they give very low level of service, and do not seem forthcoming with coping strategies parents and toddlers at the sessions. The lessons are very repetitive and in my opinion do not offer good value for money. They are totally unflexible and would not, in our case, consider helping the customer if lesson times become an issue. Avoid the company at all costs...... (read more)

Very unhelpful customer service. Could only get their answering machine on most of my calls. Wanted to swap a lesson on one occasion with another member (who has similar class half an hour later with the same teacher). called to check if its possible on monday and was promissed a call back wich never happened so had to call again on wd ( my class was on thu) and had to explain again to a different person, who then checked if i can swap the whole remaining term with someone instead of just... My little one has been swimming with Water Babies since she were 3 months old and she are now nearly 3 years old. She is so confident in the water and the Water Babies classes have taught her not only everything which has helped her learn to swim but they have also taught her Water Safety (she could hold onto the side of a pool and pull herself out at a very young age!). The extra small delights that it has given us is the ease of bath times - she loves the water going in her face! I was... (read more)

I started the Waterbabies course with my son when he was 16 weeks old and completed the beginners course and the intermediate course.I wasn't able to attend the subsequent course and started classes at a local swim school which are much better and at a fraction of the price (£24 for 7 weeks which could be paid as you go or in a one go but cost would be carried over if you couldn't attend a class).Things I didn't like about waterbabies :(1)definately over-priced for what you get (you're... Dont Take your precious child to this place. Virgin active has cheaper swimming lessons in a clean pool. we were so excited for our son to attend this course. the pool was not very clean firstly. Secondly they cancelled the course halfway through and everytime they emailed the night before the course saying there was a pool problem and out of their control. When I complained why there was not an alternative they emailed back very rudely saying we couldn't do anything about it . Our son only... (read more)

We gave up halfway through the 1st course (water babies) as we were not happy with the direction of the course - getting babies to swim unaided underwater just so that they could have their picture taken at a nice price. The swimming instructors were nice but you could tell they were being put under pressure to push the under water picture sales. Our son hated the under water swims and often got left out of certain activities as a result. Bath time also became problematic when they used to... (read more)

I have been taking my 2yr old son to water babies since he was 7 months olds and feel this one of the best things I have done with him. Yes the photos are expensive but they are of a very good standard and something that not everyone has.( personally we never experienced any hard sell at all). We attend a class in the west midlands and find everyone involved very friendly and helpful, even rearranging lessons due to holidays and sickness. My little boy loves his lessons and always has, that... (read more)

Instructor very good with babies- only positive! Extremely expensive for an overly tired repetitive routine, babies learn to be confident in the water which can also be achieved b taking little one to the pool on a regular basis. Hidden charges on top of an already ridiculously expensive initial fee of £15 PER LESSON! The underwater photo shoot is the ultimate financial insult- £45 just for the shoot with no photos then a further £500 for the the pics on a memory stick as a photographer... (read more)

It's a shame that the customer service for Water Babies swimming lessons are so poor, because the organisation does have some good teachers. However, the organisation is too focused on making money, and not focused enough on making sure the logistics are taking care of. There are several other swimming lesson companies that are more cost-effective and offer higher quality and better organisation. (read more)

I thought the classes were good but repetitive, pool facilities small and crowded. The pool facilities were really small with no provision for babies in the mens changing room, which as dad was meant to be taking baby meant we both had to go each week. The first week we were a bit late and as soon as baby was in the water the teacher wanted dad to dunk baby under the water, as you can imagine baby was unimpressed. They charged us the £30 admin fee for not letting them know we didn't want to carry on in time. The original course still had 4 weeks left til the end. They said... (read more)

We've been doing Waterbabies for just over two years now but stopping once this term ends. My daughter is 3 and can swim about 6 meters if I encourage her enough in advance - this is in thanks to Waterbabies. However, we've had 4 different teachers in the past year which doesn't help the children to get used to / trust the teachers. My daughter doesn't seem to be progressing anymore, in fact she seems to have lost confidence since the latest teacher's arrival. I don't blame her, the... (read more)

Initially I thought "Water Babies" was good. The instructor was professional and great with all the babies and my 4 month old son loved it. I didn't even mind how repetitive it was at first. However as it went on and we went on to the second term I became frustrated by the repetitive songs and the repetitive exercises. I longed to do something new (very little changes from week to week) or seemingly from term to term. It is basically a 30 minute formula with a few slight variations. If you... (read more)

My sons have both attended waterbabaies and I wouldn't recommend it to others. There are better swim schools. It was convenient for me since it was the only way I could manage to take two kids under 3 swimming on my own, so I took the £12 per half hour, each, on the chin. Waterbabies advertise that they teach classes up to school age, but this is not the necessarily true for your child. They will not continue a class if the numbers drop below 4 so to prevent this they merge... (read more)

"At 3 yrs old your child my be able to struggle through the water with no style. A large part of this is to do with the fact that no child has the muscle strength to swim when it is very young"
Most ridiculous comment I have ever read. I do apologise, I was just reading though the reviews as I was thinking of signing up. This statement could not get any further from the truth. Children from the age of 18months are more than capable swimming with no aid, arms, legs, with a 'doggy paddle' technique.
I have thought this was for 3 years now.

The lessons are good you pay in advance for ten half an hour sessions. We attended a photo shoot £40 for the privilege to attend then £70 for cheapest photo or £200 for one digital copy!(Much cheaper to buy an underwater camera). Your child has three attempts to get a good picture and on ours the 'instructor' failed to pick up our baby on surfacing twice!!! she became too traumatised to continue and on complaining the reply was basically we couldn't give a monkeys. Our wee one has been attending water babies since she was 5 months, mainly because her dad wanted an activity the two of them could do together and he liked the sound of swimming. The classes are good and he and she both really enjoy being in the water, she even enjoys the dunking, but I am not sure the classes really offer value for money. They are very expensive, especially in comparison to swim lessons at the local pool which friends who have done both actually prefer. Also find the idea... (read more)

I have had a fantastic experience with waterbabies and now have a 2 1/2 yr old who is supremely confident in the water, and can now swim a width unaided. They may be one of the more expensive baby activities but you cant put a price on a lifesaving skill, and the techniques they teach your baby re saving themselves do come in handy when they are learning to cruise, and also if accidents do happen - yes you never leave your child unattended near water, but as a friend found when you have a 2 yr old running round a holiday home who falls into water, those seconds where they are holding on to the side are valuable.

Water Babies offer swimming classes for babies and toddlers. Their aim is both to introduce babies to swimming and also to make them feel safer in water and learn how to rescue themselves in case of an emergency. I have booked a course for my 5-month-old son and have so far attended 5 out of the 12 sessions. It is really fantastic. Right from the start we learnt how to dip the babies underwater for a few secondd to get them used to this sensation. My son and all the other babies thoroughly... (read more)
