    Good Points: This futuristic, seek styled, HDMI enabled Progressive Scan DVD Player is quite outstanding in performance. I connected it through HDMI cable (which is usually supplied with this player). Color and audio accuracy, contrast ratio & is superb. Since this DVD player has a sexy look as it contains disc slot instead of ordinary popping out tray. That means you can easily ' insert 'the disc with just a slight push, as common in some driving car models Disc loading time is also optimum. Variable zooming function is helpful while watching different types of movies.

    The player is also equipped with front USB interface (for viewing high-resolution JPEG pics or for listening mp3 audios), including a adjustable karaoke input mic option. Loading time of high resolution pics (as captured from a 5 mega pixel camera) is awesome. I tested its USB interface with USB.2 (of various models) & with USB card reader & it worked well! USB card reading means, simply pop out your SD or micro SD cards from digital camera or from your mobile & insert it into the card reader & plug it in the DVD Player & BINGO!

    HD up scaling is helpful for viewing standard videos on a high def scaling, although it requires an HD enabled LCD or Plasma screen.

    Lip synchronizer is a helpful feature, where one want to tune, picture & sound together, besides the player is made capable to sense & play Div X ultra discs which is a good addition. Finally except Blue Ray format, it can playback all popular formats.


    Bad Points: The Philips DVP5965 player doesn ' t contain ' resume 'option which considered the most important function of any DVD player, however it is mentioned in the catalogue. In reality the option is available only when the DVD player is ' on mode ' . Once you put it in standby mode, then you ' ll be unable to resume the movie. The Graphic interface (GUI) of this player looks cheap, while Display mode (while playing back) is just not acceptable, where movie picture shrink at the top & text details are appeared at the bottom. The remote control doesn ' t contain ' PBC Off 'function, however PBC function can be put off by pressing the menu button.

    The player only supports upto 1080i (1080 interlaced signals) hence doesn ' t support full HD signals i.e. 1080p.
