“Reliable Power Generation”

★★★★☆

written by GotPower on 18/09/2017

Bought this unit years ago, sat around not being used much, ran and tested every hurricane season. Well it finally paid for itself this summer during hurricane Irma. It ran 4 days straight continuously until power was restored. We refilled with fuel while it was running (carefully, although this a no-no, and I would NEVER do so with a gasoline gen set) This set is an early build and does not use a voltage regulator so regulation is a bit unstable at low loads, the later builds have a replaceable regulator. The early builds use a 32uf 400v ac capacitor across the windings instead of the regulator, mine went bad so I have now replaced it with a 35uf 440v ac starting capacitor purchased on e-bay for $40.00. Voltage is now in spec. Ran about 11 hrs on a refill. This unit is more quiet than most gas screamers, that run at 3600 rpm. Ran everything in the house that we needed, lights, fridge, fans, washer, dryer, well, water heater. No A/C or Oven/Range though. Engine ran without issue and used no oil in that time period, but oil is now ready to be changed.Unit now has about 148 total hours on it. Worth the $1400.00 we paid for it years ago, as far as I'm concerned it owes me nothing.
