I rarely give full marks for movies that I go and see, but District 9 is an exception. I went to see this movie recently, and haven't stopped thinking about it!
Yes it is another human vs. alien movie, but with a difference. You get drawn into the story right from the off, and you really get thinking about how we treat different people/species!
The special effects are amazing, and the acting is pretty good too. I heard that the lead actor (Sharlto Copley) had never acted before! I'm looking forward to see what he acts in next.
The length of the movie was perfect. Not too long, and I never felt the story was being "dragged out".
This is really one of those movies you have to go and see. I'd happily go and see it again for the second time.

District 9 is an amazing film from first time director Neill Blomkamp. Having previously impressed with his short Halo teaser films this is better than I had expected.
The story of an alien refugee camp of slums (District 9) in Johannesburg where aliens have lived for over 20 years is a great turn on a tired alien versus man theme. For all you sci fi buffs District 9 has it all.
The film is based around south africa and the city of johannasburg.
Aliens came to earth 20 years ago and over the years have become a burden on humans, to the point they are not wanted here,
The title of the film is based on the slum town to which the aliens are housed, district 9.
Not going to spoil the film for you but.....
1, fantastic special effects
2, great dark humour.
3. everything a sci fi film needs, aliens, weapons, and spaceships.
