Good Points: Very good fuel economy, air injection PRE-clean for intake air, quick-release plug/filter cover, trusted brand with good warranty/ service cover, all-round reliability/quality and pain-free use ownership, low vibration

Bad Points: Jury still out on the tool-free chain tensioning on balance I think I prefer the traditional method of twin nut and screw.

General comments: This model is a 41C.C. chainsaw from Husqvarna's "landowner" (mid) range it comes with the option of a 15" or 18", 18" being the recommended maximum with a 13" option as an after-purchase . The original type of chain is a 325 pitch "pixel" narrow (1.3MM), cut low-profile chain, the saw will also accept the 325/1.5MM bar/chain. Being an "e" model it has among other features a fuel pump primer and tool-free chain tensioning. I have been using this saw for some 5 months now and taken as a whole I am very pleased with it I have used it for felling and logging and it makes a good all-rounder at a reasonable price (around £310 as I write) for my kind of usage (semi-pro, weekend, hedge thinning, logging, light felling) I have just started using a chainsaw regularly again after a break of about 15 years and the first big surprise was the really excellent fuel economy I checked at about the point my previous old Stihl 010 would have been dry and there was still half a tank left but the biggest revelation was the "air injection" system which spins out most of the debris from the intake air via the cooling fan before it reaches the air filter (which is a plastic "cassette" rather than oiled sponge/felt) this works INCREDIBLY well I opened up the quick-release filter cover after the first heavy day thinking the airbox would need a clean but scarcely a speck was found therein and I STILL haven't had to clean it!! there is a video on u-tube of a Husky and a stihl being run on a bench at full tilt whilst someone throws scoopfulls of sawdust over them after a minute of this abuse the saws are shut-off and the filter covers taken off, the Stihl is clogged solid but the Husky still perfectly usable. The saw is a very good starter from cold and hot the only occasion needing more than a pull or two being after it has stood for a while and the engine is warm rather than hot, I am still undecided on the tool-less chain tensioning the clamp lever is fine but the tensioning wheel is small, a bit awkward and stiff to operate and in my opinion makes fine adjustment harder. The logic of the narrow chain I can't argue with as why make thick chips when you could have more log to burn however one thing the dealer (openly/honestly) admitted is that the narrow cut can make using a wedge/breaking bar difficult which if you are doing a course you may wish to bear in mind and purchase the 325/1.5MM which is non-standard for this model but I have used an 18" with no issues. Would I buy another? well a Husky most certainly my next purchase will probably be a bigger XP, in my experience buy this saw with confidence, use quality fuel/2T (I use Husqvarna's XP low-smoke blue) maintain it sensibly and you should enjoy using it as much as I do.
