“Incredible reliability and value”

★★★★★

written by Salvador157 on 06/09/2014

I have 411,000 miles on my 2003 Infiniti QX4. I have had since new. I have replaced U-Joints, blower motor for heat and A/C. After that, it has been headlight and other bulbs, Serpentine belts, tires and batteries. Front pads and rotors at 162,000 then again at 350,000. Rears at 300,000. Plugs at 215,000 and again at 300,000(because I didn't have platinum tipped the first time. Rear main seal at about 325,000 as well as a couple of oil filter fitting gaskets. All told other than the maintenance items such as brakes, tires, bulbs, belts, batteries, I have had this 20 mpg vehicle for almost 13 years and spent less than $1,500 on the other repairs. I did change the oil and filter every 3,000 miles or so and of course I replaced wiper blades. This vehicle handles great in snow when in 4 wheel drive and is still tight I have never owned a more reliable and efficient vehicle. I continue to trust and drive this over 3,000 miles per month.

Over all, the Infiniti QX4 has been a great suv. I purchased mine used, with roughly 60k miles and now have 130k on the vehicle. I have made sure to take care of all the scheduled maintenance and have to say I'm happy with my choice.
To sum it up, I am very pleased the the QX4 and would recommend the vehicle to anyone considering purchasing one. The only thing I wish, is that they would come out with a newer model because I would like to get another. The Q 56 is too big for me, and I'm not persuaded by the aesthetics of the FX, although it drives like a dream.

I am very happy with the Infinity QX4. I traded in a 2005 Jeep for a 2001 Infinity because of all the problems I was having with the Jeep. I'm hoping that Infinity makes a similar sized replacement within a few years, because I'm going to want another one.

Easily the best car I have ever owned, purchased in 2006 with 35000 miles on it. I've had a Blazer, Montero and ford explorer, J30, I pray this car never wears out !, infinity does not have a replacement for this vehicle.
If it got better gas mileage I'd go buy an extra one and garage it so I could have one for the next 10 years. Great all weather suv, rain, snow and mud are no problem. It has a 5000 lb towing capacity, but you woudl be crazy to tow that much weight, this vehicle is just to small / narrow for that much weight.

The best SUV I have owned, super reliable Nissan Power Plant with niceties luxury appointments throughout without overwhelming you with unnecessary luxury gadgets. 75,000 miles without a single repair needed (other than the single-slot CD changer on the radio).

written by bcooper on 12/10/2005

The Infiniti QX4 by far is the best entry into the luxury SUV market! It drives like a high-end luxury car, yet can faces the demands of an off-road sport utility vehicle. I know, because although most of my driving is in 4 season conditions (including snow) its 'on the fly' 4x on demand is superb! Also, recently I drove over a "roadless" 18,000 ranch, driving through streams, meadows (viewing a moving elk herd), over rotten fallen logs and boulders, and it wasn't at all 'anaemic' as some reviewers give this classic luxury SUV. However, if you're measuring it's 'get up and go' power with freeway passing, it is a bit sluggish, even compared with my wife's 1997 Infiniti J30. My only concern for any Infinity owner is the lack of dealerships spread out over America. The only dealer in Oregon is in Beaverton, and we live in Bend, OR! A learning point here is that Nissan dealers cannot serve all points/needs of an Infiniti. My 1997 QX4 has less than 100k miles, and most people think it is NEW!

Great luxury SUV, Thats why its in the "luxury" class. Performance is good....my rating would be much higher if gas mileage was higher. It's a great vehicle.....and where in the heck is that Bob seeger music coming from? I already checked the cd and the cd changer. Is it possible its programmed into the CD player...what a concept. By the way I'm a tuff reviewer, what can I say as a customer we can influence.

I love my QX4 and have almost 100K on it now. It's currently in for a new timing belt and other work expected of a car with this much mileage. Now looking at third set of tires because of weight. 3rd set of front brakes also being on. This has been the best car I've ever had (had a Jag before so what can you expect?!?).

Ineresting comment on towing capacity--has anyone had problems with towing capability. e.g. towing a boat, trailer, etc? I am thinking of getting this vehicle, but am not interested if towing is a problem.

written by Dean. on 21/06/2002

I have a 1998 Model Infinity QX4 4*4 offroader (am I the only one who thinks this car isn't slow? Mine isn't, and I drive pretty fast). It does guzzle gas around town, so I'm glad my commute is only 3 miles each day. The climate system is awesome, and combined with the leather interior, quiet ride, smooth handling, and Bose sound system, it is possible to get very comfortable in this SUV. It also has done some amazing things off-road that my brother's 4X4 Ranger Pickup couldn't do. The one-touch 4X4 selector lets you change the mode from performing part-time (like a Subaru Outback, OK for most slippery situations) to full time (like a Ford Bronco). The best thing is that it does all this while driving with the feel of a good Volvo, and nothing else I tried could do that, even the Lexus.

I had a 98 and turned it in for a 2001 Infinity QX4 4x4 offeroader (can't beat the financing charges!) This one is definitely a move up from the former. While not exactly exhilarating, the acceleration and power are at least acceptable, interior was upgraded significantly, but they still need to do something about the tiny back seat.

All 6 in dash cd players are like that, if not this one is better because other cars you have to press unload to get the cd out then press load to put it in, in the OX4 when it unloads you can just put another one in. This car has great acceleration I raced my cousin with a 2000 Q45 and i beat him until 70 mph.

Who needs a daytime light? Why is that a luxury feature? That to me is stupidist thing ever introduced, waste of energy and doesn't do you any good. It only makes one look like a dork that forgot to turn the light off

Ron Cowan's Response to Rodgers.'s Review

If you ever have low battery you'll wish you didn't have running lights on all the time. It's also a good way to wear out your alternator two to three times faster. The manufacturer's seen you coming when he designed that on these automobiles. Anything to sell you more parts and service. If that keeps you from buying this car then you don't know the importance of buying a quality and reliable vehicle. You must have a lazy streak in you if you can't reach down and turn on the lights with the switch. Do you need an automatic switch on the commode to use it? I would also like to see my insurance rates go down by installing an automatic switch. If you went down and told the insurance company you installed the automatic switch and that you want your rates dropped they would laugh you out the front door. sincerely, Ron.

daytime running lights have been used for years, especially in countries farther north such as canada. idea isn't for folks to see with the lights as much as its for OTHER drivers to see that a vehicle is coming. check the insurance specs for the number of accidents at dawn & twilight if you think these aren't useful. as far as being labelled as "luxury," well, i don't agree with that. that's like saying a tinted day/night rear view mirror is an option.

Overall, my 2001 Infinity QX4 is a good value 4x4. All except the "rip-off" navigation system. It only covers a small part of the US (4 states). They make you buy 8 more cds at a cost of $130 each if you want coverage of the entire US. They should be honest & market the system as a "limited" navagation system.
