Bought in jan 02. Gave good service for nearly 6 years but then switching faults started when links to VCR and DVD would not work as before. Soon after that volume control problems began. By connecting stereo system in this was OK while volume turned itself down but became unusable when bagan turning itself up and DEAFENING us! The sound quality was quite good though!
Is this the life of Philips TVs?I think Japanese ones last longer.

After about 18 months of use my Philips 28PW6515 was selective in its response to the remote control, a frustrating problem that no amount of new batteries in the remote resolved. We're now 6 months on and it now flicks between input modes by itself after 30 mins viewing time and then switches itself off. After reading the other reviews i think it'll be making its way to the recycling centre soon!

This model Phillips has lasted 8 years for me and only now is it switching itself off/on. Its has been a great buy for me and will be sad to see it go.

I can't recommend this Philips TV. For me it was a waste of money. Mainly because of the picture quality. In the top quarter of the screen lines were not quite straight. Over the last year I had many problems with the screen in general. Flickering, sometimes no picture at all.

The tv isn't worth the repair. Apparently it is a very common problem with Phillips. The tv is only a year old. Should have bought a cheaper one from the supermarket! It would probably have lasted longer. Not what you would expect with a good name like Phillips!!!

Having bought the Philips 28PW6515 I thought was buying a TV from a reputable and quality manufacturer, I was extremely disappointed with it's reliability. I was even more disappointed with the poor response from Philips when I queried the problems. Very poor customer service. I would never buy Philips TV or audio equipment again, and would never recommend it to anyone.

My Philips 28PW6515 widescreen TV has also developed an intermittent fault, which means the Scart ports cannot be used at all, as the TV switches itself off. Sometimes I cannot turn the TV on or adjust the sound.

Given the other review comments it looks like I will also have to confine this TV to the bin.

I'm now on my second and last wide screen, Philips TV, in 5 years. The first ceased working with a tube fault, rendering it more expensive to repair and the second, my current TV, is taking the same route with the same tube problems.

After 3 years a fault developed with Philips TV not responding to the remote (changing channels, volume control etc). The fault was not with the remote but with the control chip. Over time the fault grew worse, the TV would switch itself on/off and now no longer works. The fix is £170 for a new chip.

I would not buy another Phillips TV again. Ours has not had much use but has developed a problem with the Scart AV1 AV2 switching itself over and over very annoying makes watching TV hell. This problem is caused by the Painter chip which is faulty. I have done research and this is a common fault with Phillips tellies that all have this chip. The only way to fix it is to get a new printed circuit board and it costs almost as much as a new telly!

I've had my Philips 28PW6515 for two years and it's now virtually worthless. After 16 months a fault developed with the remote control receiver (not the handset), my TV engineer said this was a known problem with this model and it would cost £150 to repair. Without the remote I can't switch to different screen modes. Emailed Philips, in short they said hard luck, pay for it yourself. Now a further fault has developed which will not allow the DVD or Video to play. Needless to say I'm very d ...

First thing i noticed on my Philips 28PW6515 was a ripple effect on the screen, best viewed when camera is panned left to right when a horizontal line is across the screen. After 15 months a green circular patch appeared on the bottom right hand side of the screen.Replacement tube was also faulty before it got written off.I have had a Philips portable for 16 years without fault. And so was very disappointed with this set.

This Philips 28pw6515c is a beautiful TV for the money, right down to the stand. The picture is bright and punchy and the Pure Flat tude is amongst the best on the market.

Sound is not bad at all either but could do with a little more bass response but otherwise tonal quality is good. Has a variety of different viewing modes which makes it so easy to get just the right screen ratio. Absolutely no distortion of picture whatsover and it gives the feeling that it is bigger that 28 inch.

Philips 28pw6515 is a very nice TV set. Don't have the humming from the speakers that others seem to be experiencing but do have a really annoying, intermittant, high pitch squeal from the rear of the set. Be interested if anyone else has the similar fault.
Have contacted reseller (Empire Direct), who seem so far to be very helpful and are going to collect the set tomorrow for repair or replacement.

I bought this Philips 28pw6515 TV in May from John Lewis, Glasgow, who price matched and offered a five year parts and labour warranty.
There was an audible buzzing noise from the set and this worsened during advertisements. A repair by John Lewis made matters worse and I rejected the set. I have e-mailed Philips for their comments, however unlike the tv, silence is the order of the day. Buyer beware - Philips do not sell their own products, check on the suppliers return policy before purchase. ...
