    Bad Points: bad customer service

General comments: What amazing photos! This is what my fiancee and I exclaimed when checking the website of Charles Bordner of The Storyteller. At that time we were comparing photographers in South Carolina and chose Mr. Bordner for our wedding for several reasons: top quality wedding photos, a well-priced package, including a Leather Craftsmen album and a picture slideshow, and a recommendation from a friend. What we personally experienced when dealing with Charles Bordner has prompted us to write this story.

Mr. Bordner was very nice, promptly answering many questions via email prior to signing a photography contract for our wedding in early June 2008. Things changed after the wedding. Wedding photos were made available to us online a month after the wedding date. We selected pictures and emailed our selections (numbers) for our album to the Storyteller within four days. After four months passed from the wedding date, we began to worry about the timeliness of the Storyteller's work and inquired about our slideshow and our album several times. One of the excuses given was Charles Bordner's "travelling." We knew from the very beginning that the contract did not include deadlines for the work to be completed by the Storyteller. (When the contract does not stipulate any deadlines, the general rule of "reasonable time" applies.) In early November, we asked the company for three approximate deadlines for competing their tasks: the date of receipt of the album design, the date of receipt of the album, and the date of receipt of the wedding picture slideshow. We did not get any deadlines for the latter two in 2008.

Almost four months after the wedding, a company representative sent us a web link to the virtual album (predesign), which we approved on the following day. In mid-January, we were shocked to learn that the Storyteller had not completed the work on the album and the slideshow -- over 7 months from the date of the wedding! Also, in mid-January, Charles Bordner told us that the slideshow would be done "by the end of the week" and the album would be at our doorstep by the end of March.

Guess when we finally received our slideshow in the mail? ..... Over 9 months after the wedding. Guess when we actually received our album? .... Over 10 months after the wedding. Charles Bordner's excuse for the delay of receipt of the album was allegedly "a mistake" by a company in New York.

During our communication with Charles Bordner, there was also an attempt (although we believe it was unintentional) to overcharge us, but he offered sincere apologies after being confronted with evidence.

The bottom line is terrible customer service has overshadowed the quality of Charles Bordner's photos.
