I used Hatched through a recommendation and was more than happy with the amount of money saved over using a high street estate agent. Being online meant you lose the personal touch of dealing with an agent face-to-face but the people on the end of the phone are more then helpful with a prompt and efficient service. The Hatched service really is comparable to a high street agent, and at about 20% of the price, it can't be bad. Obviously there are things (like viewings) that they don't do, and it helps if you are prepared to be fairly proactive in marketing your property to best advantage (we've seen a few Hatched listings where sellers have, for example, not proof-read their own listing, or left 30-odd photos on without deleting the dud ones). Sent a contractor out to take the photos of the property which to be honest were not good at all, but to their credit they allowed me to take my own photos and email them across and use those, although this is beside the point. Pictures that they took were great and I was pleased with the narrative used to describe the property. It started really well as I got an appointment to visit the house on a Saturday morning. After driving 32 miles, one way, with a 4 month old baby, we turned up at the house, with the owner not aware of our visit ... On top of that, the owner who was emptying the house (we were lucky he was there!) told us that the house was under offer, and that they've accepted the offer ... Would agree entirely, friendly start but very poor communication and then nothing - the traditional estate agent on the house we were buying had to do all the work liaising up and down the chain to keep things together (they were great) but hatched were appalling. Just very quick to send their bill. When we complained they said they'd reduce the bill by £150, and then promptly resent the full bill and threatened court action - horrible - would never use again.
