Purchased this useless bit of machinery from b&q, wish i hadn't bothered. Wont start, it's an absolute pig. When i did manage to start it once or twice for about 10 minutes, the strimming cord breaks, and once machine is hot it wont start again. It's now sitting in garage with the pull cord hanging out of it. Look on E-Bay, selling for the same reason. Rubbish dont buy one. Carol. (read more)

Purchased from B&Q - This Homelite strimmer is absolute rubbish, the head angle would only suit anyone over 7ft tall. I took it back to B&Q and offered to buy a more expensive brushcutter/strimmer in exchange but they did not except and would not refund, even though iten was considered 'not fit for purpose' it it a pig to 'hot start' and in the end the whole of the plastic head assembly melted due to heat generated by the friction of the drive wire inside the hollow shaft head radius. Don't... (read more)

If you follow instructions correctly, (mix the fuel/oil correctly & prime the carb) this strimmer is very good and easy to start. Quite powerfull, dont know where the person below is going wrong sayin grass stops it. Im guessing they are leaving the choke on!! Had two of these now as I broke the pull cord on my last one being over enthusiastic starting it. would definatly recommend too a friend. (read more)

Purchased the Homelite petrol strimmer in B&Q under the advice of their representative who stated that as I am only 5 foot it would be very light and easy for me to use. The strimmer has lay in its box as I have never been able to start it, a neighbour did get it to start for me once, but as soon as I proceeded to use it on the grass the strimmer stopped again! This has to be the biggest waste of money I have ever spent. I couldn't even return it as by the time I got to try the strimmer... (read more)

Gave this Homelite HLT26CD Petrol Trimmer 1 star because it is a nice colour, for anything else it is useless, you would need to stand on your head to make it touch the bit you want to strim and when it does, its impossible to control. Unless your a 6ft body builder it is a nightmare to start. Buy this if you like a challenge otherwise steer clear. (read more)

My Homelite HLT26CD Petrol Trimmer takes 15 mins thrashing to start and then overheats and stops after 5 minutes of use. If, in this 5 minutes, it encounters anything thicker than a human hair it stops. If you try and use it to cut grass, it stops. Terrible waste of money. (read more)

The overwhelming feedback from owners of these things is that they are a piece of poo. We bought one here in Australia some time ago. On the rare occasions that it starts, it gets about 10 minutes use per month. It is literally in "as new condition" as a consequence of not starting or running. Do I know what I am doing. well let's ponder that for a moment. Our 2 stroke Yamaha outboard motor starts reliably every time (and we mix the fuel), the 2 Stihl Chainsaws we have start reliably and easily every time (again I mix the fuel), the Stihl Line Trimmer we bought to replace the afforementioned Homelite piece of poo also starts easily and reliably (yes, again I mix the fuel). In light of the innumerable complaints from people all over the world regarding difficulties starting and running the HLT26CD(NB), I just wonder if the machine might be a dud. Perhaps not, maybe we are all mixing the fuel incorrectly or leaving the choke on, but by some remarkable coincidence, not making the same mistake with our other 2 stroke machinery.
