I can not make local calls on the thing. I can call anywhere in the US but not my home town. It also has voice mail after 2 rings, very anoying when you can't get to the phone. I have talked to their socalled top techs. They have no clue on what is causing the problem. I won't recomend these because of the problems and the lack of a company to talk to! (read more)

Magic Jack set up is quick & easy, and for the first 12 hours or so works great! But after that there are constant problems with call audio. After the first few hours incoming calls have no sound, callers hear you but you hear nothing. Outgoing calls either have the same problem, or you have sound & the caller doesn't. I have tried four different phones with it (two were new purchases & all are different brands) and none worked longer than about 14 hours before developing the same... (read more)

The Magic Jack is a very solid device for making calls, uses USB port for connecting, MAGIC JACK is a telephone adapter that attaches to your PC or Mac that lets you make and receive telephone calls within the USA and Canada for FREE. This should be the main reason for u to consider buying it, better than paying about credit on Skype for calling.
