ive spent so long on comparison websites and endless phone calls to different insurance companies each price increasing from what was shown on my computer screen! got put through to a plan and although a bit more expensive to what was previously quoted the man i spoke to was really helpful and explained the cons of these other insurance companies and explained that with a plan i wouldnt need a telematics box fitted in the car which was one relief and explained they charge for this too which... I would recommend everyone switch to A Plan in Hemel Hempstead (in fact I have been telling everyone I know to do this for a while). Their prices are always on or near the mark and the service they give is amazing. I had a claim last year and A Plan dealt with it from start to finish. I didn't have to speak to any call centres as I just called the office. The phone was always answered within 3 rings (no waiting on hold!) and my queries dealt with quickly. I called Aplan insurance Maidenead and dealt with [name removed] who was fantastic. I have had been searching the web which I don't like to do, as the premiums always seem to change. After speaking with [name removed] he arranged my cover which was a little more than I had been quoted, but his excellent telephone manner, and in house claims sold me. I have insured many vehicles throughout my life with many different brokers from Swinton to Be-Wiser, not forgetting E-Sure online... I have to say what a fantastic service I was given from Kirby in the Eastleigh branch, he was very knowledgable and his attitude towards wanting my business really made me feel valued. I have insured a few cars through A-Plan and every time they have come up trumps, not just on price but on explaining the benefits of some policies over others, which quite often is just as important as price. I would recommend them to anyone and in fact did so last week. (read more)

“Waste of time”

I telephoned A Plan in Gloucester for a quote,spoke to a guy named Andy,he couldn't find the car with the reg number as you can if you get an internet quote,futhermore after asking me to find out the model of the car i phoned back and as Andy was busy at the desk serveing a customer i was promised a ring back within 5 minutes and i'm still waiting for that call.That is definitly one customer you have lost and i won't recommend anyone else. I went to A-Plan to insure a subaru impreza STI wagon. I had tried to find quotes from many other insurers, some of whom would not entertain the car as it was an import. I phoned A Plan and they were really really helpful. I got a quote of about £550 which was much much better than some who wanted over £1000 for the same cover! My neighbour told me to call this company as my current insurer increased my renewal by 30% for no reason at all!!!!!!!!!!! I called A-Plan and found them to be very friendly and most suprisingly not pushy. They got my quote to about the same price as I paid last year, so I wnet for it. The main thing I like about them is that they aren't a call centre so you get to speak to a person straight away, rather than listen to awful hold music!!! (read more)

I insured my motorbike through A-Plan since 2008 and hadn't had an issue. I had noticed the premium creep up a little but this year it nearly doubled in cost. I have never made a claim. I don't use my motorbike in the winter so at renewal in October I wrote to the company and stated that I did not wish to take out the new plan this time. At the same time I wrote to DVLA to SORN the bike and to my bank to stop the direct debit. Conveniently, it seems that 'they never received my letter'... (read more)

"My experience of them is awful"... Well, at the start of your review you stated you "hadn't had an issue". Wow, yeah, issue free insurance must have been a NIGHTMARE.
Seems like your problem is with the Royal Mail and not with A-Plan. They answer their telephone within three rings... Why wouldn't you just call them to confirm you did not want to renew the policy? Seems pretty irresponsible to me.

I took out my first car insurance policy with A Plan in about 1994 when I got my first car and I've never been insured anywhere else ! Why would I ?? they have always looked after me and given me a reasonable deal. I know I could probably get a cheaper quote by going on the internet but I just don't see the point when I can have A Plan look after me and I have the comfort of knowing if I need to make a claim, someone is there to help. I just want to say 'Thank you' to aplan for all the help they gave me during my recent claim - I have had a number of bad experiences before concerning insurers and lack of communication and help when I've tried to claim. My friend recommended me to aplan last year and I can't fault what they have done for me. I was recommended to A-Plan Salisbury by a work collegue who has used them for over 10 years. I was a little unsure about dealing with a broker - but they were absolutely brilliant.

I was previously insured by Kwik fit who every year I had to fight at renewal with their online quote.
My friend recomended A-plan in Worcester and I spoke to very friendly, knowledgable adviser named Pete, who arranged my policy on the phone. He emailed my certificate to me straight away so I could tax the car in Preston.
I would recomend A-plan as a number of my friends have taken out policies with them and they have all got a great deal as well as a profesional personal service.

Having used internet based insurers for years, I just assumed that I've been getting the best policies at the best price... how wrong!! My friend suggested I contact A-Plan Insurance in Leamington Spa and I've been blown away by the service, advice, the policy they found me and all at a cheaper price!! APlan Insurance was initially very good, the front of the company and their staff were helpful and provided a very good deal.
However as soon as it came to claiming this changed. Because they work through a variety of brokers and companies they have no ability to communicate. I am not sure where you are coming from thith this review, i have had 3 claims in a 4 year period all were dealt swifly aplan and completed leaving me happily insured 6 years and still going strong with aplan who no insure my daughter, husband, home and pets!.

I'd never heard of A-Plan before but after being put through to them by call connections I found them very helpful and determined to get me a good deal. I had been with Elephant and thought their quote would be unbeatable considering I'm 27 and driving a TVR, most insurers don't even want to know. I had lots of car insurance flyers come through the post, which meant my car insurance must be due soon. They all promised they could quote me cheap prices - some even gave me a price even though they didn't have my details! I don't enjoy looking for car insurance because it's diffcult to know what you should have on your policy and what they try and get you to pay extra for but you don't actually need. Anyway getting to the point - I went into a local broker called Aplan, (which I had walked past thousands of times) they gave me a great quote, EXPLAINED what I did and didn't need and actually made looking for insurance quite pleasant for a change. So far so good.....
