I too have the exact same problem listed by others. My player is about 2 years old. About a year ago, it started to jump back to earlier chapters. Then it started giving sporadic errors on brand new DVDs. I think Sony should be making more reliable products and I would not recommend this product under any conditions.

My Sony DVP S360 is also shot -- it displays NO DISC. Sony products are not as reliable as many people think. I had a top of the line Sony power amp go out when it was ONE MONTH out of warranty. This happened under normal use. It took more than three months for a Sony service center to repair it. The part on the circuit board that burned out had to be shipped from Japan. John A.

This Sony DVP-S360 was visibly designed to last just over the warranty. After a few months, it started displaying pixelized images followed with random jumps backwards to the middle of some already viewed scenes. After a year, it progressively degraded, displaying more often than not, Error C13.00 when inserting brand new DVDs. Now, only 1 DVD out of 6 plays. Sometimes displays NO DVD, sometimes Error C13.00.
Sony used to be a respectable make. Not anymore! They do not stand behind their p ...

My God, the Sony DVP-S360 DVD player has been giving me severe problems for years! Only now, after finally deciding to see what I could find online about this particular model, do I see it is a real LEMON. Do not purchase this model. Just like everyone else, I thought either my DVD player or my DVD's were dirty. But discs skip, freeze, or simply won't play right out of the package, and I've cleaned the player 400 times. Also, this model doesn't play VCD's, MP3's, and most copied DVD's eithe ...

My Sony DVP-S360 DVD player has been used for mostly rented videos and home movies, copied to DVD. It has worked flawlessly, and provides a great picture. It will play audio CD's very well too, but if you make a homemade audio CD-R, it will not play.

My Sony DVP-S360 has just finally took it's last breath. I have been having the same problems as others for about the last eight months. I must be one of the lucky ones because I purchased my player in 2002. Now the tray won't open and it has a rented DVD inside. I have filled out the petition on the Sheller Ludwig & Badey Consumer Class Actions: Sony DVD. Like a fool I just went out and bought another Sony before I researched how I might get my old one repaired. Like the rest of you I re ...

C1300 Error: I have been getting this more frequently. Through troubleshooting I have determined it to be a design related issue. It appears that the DVD player does not disipate heat properly thus causing the C1300 error. There is a pocket located at the bottom of the unit which is ideal for hold heat released from electionic equipment below. The fix is to ensure good air flow and not stack this unit above any other equipment.

We have a Sony DVP-S360 that has been finicky --especially with rental DVDs -- from the get-go. It intermittently skipped to the beginning in the middle of a movie or gave "dirty disk" / "no disk," codes. When it was our only DVD player, I just assumed that the DVD format was just supersensitive to greasy fingers, etc. So I diligently cleaned each disk with alcohol and muddled through. But lately, it's even been balking at playing pristine new disks right out of the celophane. And our $30 Cyber ...

Total waste of money, piece of garbage. I am having the same problem with it as the others here. I bought this item based on the Sony name and reputation. Never again will I buy a Sony product after this one. Near the end of a DVD, it will start skipping, freezing, backing up to another scene, picture will garble. I have been getting the dirty DVD error message as well. No problem with the DVD's. It's a horrid player. DO not buy this model!

Sony DVP-S360 - I thought I was crazy when I kept getting the "C 33 00" flashing on my screen. I have always bought Sony, but will not do so again unless they remedy this situation. This was my first DVD player, and it is certainly my last Sony.

Just add me to the list of unsatisfied customers of the Sony DVP-S360. Believe I will do heavy research into the next DVD player I buy (which will be soon). On the positive side, I'm glad forums like this exist to help the consumer make informed purchases.

I've been trying to work out what has been going on with my DVP-S360 Sony DVD. So I get on line to see if there was some sort of fix and am saddened to learn of so many with the same NO DISK error. What is even more vexing is I walked back to my plastic hi-Tec decoration and can't get my CD out of. I think I'll have to break it open so I don't loose any more money. Does anyone know if this can be fixed? It may not be worth it. Thanks Best Buy. Thanks Sony. Oh folks, Timing is everything. I purch ...

My Sony DVP-S360 has had the same problem as everyone else - won't reconize disc 70 % of time, stutters & stops with a C1300 error.

I purchased this Sony DVP-S360 DVD Player on August 21,2000 and so far have experienced NONE of the problems so many others have.
After reading the reviews posted here & other sites I have tried, as a precaution, some of the calibration "fixes" noted here before a problem developed. I urge anyone who still has a workable S360 to try them, as they did no harm & may halt future "no disc" problems.
    My unit plays DVD+R, DVD+RW, DVD-R & DVD-RW's instantly and I've had no problem with dual-layered d ...

I have the same problem with my Sony DVP-S360 as everyone else, 1 1/2 years old and won't recognise a DVD, will play CD's on my large screen TV. C 13:00 errors, frames freeze and periodically returns to start 3/4 of the way through the movie. No faith in Sony all my Sony experience has been ended with breakdown and too costly to repair. The only product that still works is my Sony digital camera and they stopped supporting it and I can't download pictures on Windows XP. Never will do business wi ...

Here's one: The Sony DVP-S360 dvd player reads the pan-and-scan version but not the widescreen one (C 13 error) on same disk. I don't trust Sony enough anymore to buy one of their plasma TV's. Too much money at stake.

Specifically. I purchased a SONY DVP-S360. 3 months into the purchase I was experiencing problems. Being electronic savy I improved the conditions under which the DVD player operates. I saw some improvement, as in it would work. But I was again mis-guided. This DVD player just plain stinks, sucks, whatever you want to call it. I figure if SONY can produce a cheap product and sell it to me in a pretty box, then they can take responsibility for a rubbish product. They gave me 250 reasons to ...

Just like everyone else, my player can no longer recognize perfectly good DVDs. I'd encourage everyone here to register their complaint on this player at http://www.bigclassaction.com/class_action/sony.html

I tried the troubleshooting that someone suggested about hitting the dvd menu continuously but that didn't work for me. My unit is 21/2 years old...go figure.. guess I will go buy a new unit today...but not a sony! I am giving the unit 1 star for having enjoyed it for a couple of years.
