It took all of 10 minutes to assemble. Seemed well put together and did a great job of mowing my medium to large sized garden. I had a rechargeable cordless mower before this and it took three charges and a lot of careful manoeuvring to avoid stalling to do what this mower did in 15 minutes, without fuss and to a better standard! I am a little puzzled by the negative reviews, it makes me think that some people's expectations are very much out of kilter with their budgets. I paid bottom... (read more)

bought last year to trim around outside perimeter of my allotment - used approx. 6 times. This year on its first time out of the shed the insides of the pull starter flew to pieces - on inspection found broken parts were made of plastic, totally useless for the job. Contacted the Argos helpdesk who replied they had no idea where or even if spare parts were available. Complete waste of money. (read more)

just got mine going, The carb has 2 bolts one holds the silver cup in place the other is a drain plug. undo the bottom bolt and put a flat head screwdriver in the hole where the bolt was. unscrew the brass jet and put your finger on one end whilst blowing down the other, this will clear any debris. put it back and make sure it is fairly tight as it vibrates loose.

Happy mowing

As far as I'm aware the Challenge Xtreme rotary mowers are made for and sold exclusively by Argos.
Only just out of the box but first impressions are good. The mower is made in China (of course) for Argos but looks well screwed together. Time will tell how well it stands up to our climate.
Handle and controls need a little basic assembly and the engine needs 500ml of oil and some unleaded in the fuel tank before you can start it up. The noise rating is 96db and it doesn't sound much louder...
