“abysmal customer service.”

experienced problems using debit cards on-line. contacted Tesco several times telling them that cards were being described as having invalid numbers. they eventually sent new cards with the same problem. cards were not recognised by Lloyds, Halifax, kwikfit, hsbc, Barclays and dfs. decided to switch to Halifax bank and Tesco stopped the switch because all the cards they had issued and activated for us had INVALID NUMBERS. After applying for a mortgage I received a phone call requesting a paper copy of my credit score, a bit unusual as I have never been asked this before. I sent this and heard nothing back for 2 weeks, after chasing Tesco they stated there was an inconsistency between what they could see and what I sent in, not sure why as it was the same report. “Don't get a Tesco Mortgage”

Never get a mortgage with Tesco Bank. I have had one with them for almost 2 years, but now I want to move house and take the mortgage with me - it has been one of the most painful experiences and has delayed a whole chain of house moves. They do not work with email as it is not secure enough, they ask that everything is dealt with by post and if you insist they will give you a fax number - but then you have to locate a working fax machine to send anything to them. “Discriminating Bank”

Current account - Avoid this bank if you do not have a British Passport, I do have one but my Husband does not, he has lived in the uk for 40 years, and is Portuguese, after several trips to the post office to certify documents we are no further forwards, as I am British I have not been asked for identification, however he has, as his christian name is spelled differently on his passport to that which he uses in the uk, a simple translation would have verified this to be the same name, we have… Read Full Review

Tesco credit card is terrific for accruing rewards. However,trying to register for services requires perfect eyesight or a magnifying glass. The font size for entering details of birth is about 3.5 with no way of enlarging. The web pages are about 8 point but at least can be enlarged. Assume they are only interested in customers with perfect vision , and that the website is constructed by teenagers. I just called Tesco bank for a mortgage, I only wanted a rough figure of how much they would lend me, an hour later and still no closer to that figure! It was the worst hour I've spent on the phone, I've already called the Co-op and had a really sensible conversation with someone, but the person at Tesco wasn't listening to me and was just going through a list of pointless questions. I had the same experience but 2 hours! I already have a mortgage with them but want to move, it was a nightmare, I won't be porting my mortgage with them thats for sure.

This is the worst bank account I have ever had. Customer service is none existant, the website is shocking for an online bank. They don't communicate via email, they want to send letters in the post. God forbid if you loose you bank card, its taken me near 3 weeks to get a new one. Absolutely nobody seemed to care that I had no access to money to buy shopping for my children. “Worst application process ever”

As applications for a new savings account go, and I've done a few, Tesco's have gone to a lot of effort to make this the worst ever. I have never seen so many questions to answer. The whole process failed twice when the Clubcard number was entered, the Direct Debit details window had no details in it and to cap it all, once you've done all that, they kindly add that the direct debit process can take up to 10 working days, so my first payment set up on the 12th December won't go through until… Read Full Review

Just closed my credit card account 15 minutes after activating it. What baffoon would think that using cookies (which get deleted regularly by any sane user) is a good way of identifying a device. The convenient Tesco bank solution is to send you a text message and then take some further inconvenient steps every single time you want to access your online account. Tried to open a fixed rate bond. Despite being a UK resident all my life, and living at the same address for over 20 years they couldn't "verify" me. I have been using a Tesco credit card for many years, using the online service is just wasting time. They require that you use a computer that they recognise. I use a number of devices, PCs, tablets and a smart phone. There is no email address, so you have to use a land line, (that could be expensive) or 'snail mail'. I applied for supplementary card for my spouse on Tesco platinum credit card. This was back in July, Bank wanted copies of passport, utility bills etc certified. They sent originals back and said will be in touch, then nothing heard until I called. Apparently they didn't like my spouse's name on the side of the bill and wanted 101 additional documents. “Current account suffers from poor website”

I opens a Tesco Bank current account to get the 3% interest on first £3000. I already keep my Santander 1-23 account around the £20,0000 limit for their 3% and had some more to save. If you like to manage your money on line avoid this website. If you can email them with a problem the address is well hidden. I have been trying to change my password for the last half hour and all I get is a message saying the password must be at least seven letters long and contain numbers and letters, which it does, but it won't accept it. We have always been very happy when shopping at tesco in person, online through their website, as well as the clubcard scheme. So no complaints there. However, after coming into finanical difficulties, after agreeing lower payments on our Tesco loan with Tesco, our opinions have changed. Be warned!! If you change the 8 to a 3 then the number in free so 0345. I have an account and once the account was opened I was able to add the account together on my online banking by clicking add product when logged into my credit card

I had a late payment charge for making payment in what I believe good time, but they say was too early! What! You made payment too early? Did you not enter into a legal contract to pay your bill on time? You cannot pay a credit card statement in advance, do you not read your statements, like all credit card statements irrespective of the company, they produce a bill on the same date each month with payment to be made by a certain date each month, if the payment is not made by that date then you are in breach of contract, it is that simple. If you didn't pay a parking fine then do you expect no recourse? Another example of how the Great British public commit application fraud, clearly you did not read the terms and conditions you either physically or electronically signed, that you confirmed you have read and fully understand the terms and conditions.
