Good Points: Comfy for longer trips.Fairly bash-proof.Cheap ones can be had.Very thrilling.Decent handling, can keep up with newer 600s (if rider skill is the limiting factor).Center-stands kick ass.Decent 50mpg highway / 40 mpg city.

Bad Points: Don't try a newish R6 first because it will spoil you for this bike.Anti-dive system adjustment knob doesn't turn (tried on multiple bikes).Fairings are brittle old-school plastic and it's hard to find new ones.Engine only lasts to 80k miles before rebuild (maybe more if you adjust the valves more often than I did (never)).Seat cracks in winter riding conditions.Mufflers can get bashed in leading to wear on the aft swingarm welds - check for this! I fixed mine with a scissor jack (both sides were bent in ;).

General comments: Also known as Kawasaki GPX 750R.Heavy bike but super powerful 109Hp engine. Pretty reliable, but I bought mine with 40k miles on it and it had a rocker arm about to go, which eventually went and was kind of a relief because it quieted the bike down a lot (intake rocker, 4 valves per cylinder so it was fine. I didn't know what was going on until 2 more rockers broke at over 80k miles at which point I opened it up and replaced all the intake rockers and the intake cam. I geared it up from stock hoping for better gas mileage but I'm not sure it helped because the speedo / odometer are a tad "optimistic" in the speed / distance traveled department.Never started smoking or burning oil at all.
