“Used Lunar Ultima”

Collected our van today - 2011 Lunar Ultima 556. When we paid deposit almost 2 weeks ago we were told it would be "fully valeted inside and out and fully serviced". On collection today, it was as dirty as when we viewed it - the alloy wheels were black. There was no paperwork to say it had been serviced. “Lunar Cosmos 352”

We bought the above caravan new from above in March 2014 and have used the caravan twice this summer for about 18 days in total. I was draining the water down for the winter to prevent any freeze up problems, and on opening the water filter housing cap for the first time, found there was no filter inside!!!! I rang the service dept at Campbells to ask them why there was no filter and they said most caravans nowadays don't have filters fitted. We are keen to know if your door was wood grain finish as we had exactly the same problem with our 2013 Lunar Cosmos 352 also purchased from Campbell's who when told about the problem made enquiries with Lunar and forwarded to us an email from Lunar stating that they were aware of the problem and had changed manufacturers to rectify it. The problem being that Lunar referred to it as an alternative door in an alternative colour, which turned out to be cream. This would have meant one cream door in an entirely wood grain interior.

The original door on the new van has a wood grain finish and a white interior. We received a second door from them which was the same colours, but was also badly distorted. Campbells now have received a white / white door from Lunar which we won't accept as it would spoil the look of the van inside. Lunar say that it has to be this colour to avoid the manufacturing problems causing the distortion. We are extremely annoyed by all this and are having to put up with the original door, which leaks slightly when showering. I can't imagine a car manufacturer getting away with supplying a door with a different colour to the rest of the car!

The analogy you use is exactly the same as I expressed to the warranty/service manager at Campbell's which elicited a negative response. "There's a surprise!". If you look on the Campbell's website & click on to the 2015 Lunar Cosmos model you will see that the washroom door & wardrobe door & the six top cupboards in the kitchen area are in a cream colour which is the same as the infill on the top lockers in the lounge area of our caravan. This gives an acceptable continuity. When we saw this we suggested to Campbell's that if Lunar were prepared to change the six eye level doors in the kitchen area that would resolve our problem. Needless to say we received a negative reply. Apparently the new doors were a different size. Very strange! We then decided that it would be in our best interest to consult a solicitor. (We did have other problems with the van as well.) After the exchange of several letters Lunar agreed to change the doors and we are happy with the new finish. Would this be an avenue that you could pursue?

Thanks for the information regarding the new cream colour doors, we will bear that in mind, it sounds like a possible option although we do like the original wood finish all round. Good luck if you go ahead with that.
At present the shower room door is the least of our worries as the van has been in Campbells for last 4 weeks awaiting important parts to be fitted under warranty and still no finish date! I could tell you much more about other problems which we are hoping will be resolved.

I think that we were both sold " Friday afternoon caravans!!" As well as the washroom door issue the main problem was a crack on the front panel by the gas locker strut. We have had the front panel replaced three times, the first two times the work was carried out by a Lunar approved body shop suggested to us by Campbell's which was closer to our home. Unfortunatlely both of these failed shortly after fitting which resulted in the caravan being taken back to the Lunar factory for inspection. They reported do decernable structural defect to the front of the caravan and fitted a fourth front panel. They collected our caravan on 15 th November 2014 and we collected it on the 28th January 2015. The factory have made a really good job of replacing the front panel and replacing the bathroom and kitchen doors. Fingers crossed that we don't have any further problems. Whether or not we would have received a satisfactory outcome without consulting a solicitor is debateable.. Although none of this work was carried out by Campbell's themselves, one of the things missing with their after sales attitude is any sign of empathy, but then once they have had your money why would they!! You have been through the mill, but I'm glad it's sorted. We have a damp issue after I did a damp test about a month ago.( I'm glad I did a thorough damp check, otherwise I don't think it would have been picked up!). The awning rail was the cause, and Campbells are awaiting delivery of a new one. I'm also not happy with the rail on the other side, it looks like it was fitted by a 5 year old, so to avoid future problems with that it is being replaced as well under warranty. I hope! You are right about Friday afternoon vans, I think they are all in that category from Lunar, never had a problem with our old Elddis! You are also right about lack of empathy, they don't know the meaning of the word!

“Crass Service from Day 1 on a Brand New Caravan”

When we bought our Brand New Adria Caravan 6 years ago we paid cash. What a mistake! If you buy on Credit the Credit Company will fight for you if there is a problem. We had many lies right from day one. The Website Price and Guarantee details were not the same as those on our Purchase Agreement and the Delivery Date was way after the date they had specified. “Appalling Service”

I had my Lunar Quasar serviced, costing over £200. The first time I used it after the service I found the pump wasn't working. I swapped fuses with the spare from the fuse box, but it still didn't work. To cut a long story short, Campbell's have washed their hands of any responsibility, claiming the pump was working when they serviced it and offered no explanation as to why the spare was also dud. The words "Service Center" should be changed to "Don't Care Center". Having attended Caravan Show in Glasgow in February this year, we purchased an Elddis 574 Supreme from Campbells. (Great deal, with plenty of extras. “Have totally lost the will to live with Campbells”

Used van bought from Clifton office in September 13. Were advised by both salesman and finance manager that it was registered in Sept 11. We have since discovered that it was actually registered 6 months earlier in March so we have lost out on 6 months warranty. Picked up a new sprite van on 11/09/13.very happy with the service from Campbells ,at delivery van was spotless ,cleanest new van I have ever bought. “Poor customer care, 80's sales practices”

We bought a second-hand caravan from them at the new site north of Preston and the salesman was spot on and really got it right. We haggled on the price and agreed to partx our old caravan. Well it goes on and on. Phoned the salesman last week who promised me he would get someone to phone me that day or the following day and nothing happened. On Sunday we went to the Clifton site and saw the manager and complained about the lack of service. He tried to put the blame on someone else and I told him I wasn't interested in who's to blame I just wanted what I had paid for. He promised he would send an email right away and promised someone would phone me today......at 4.20pm I phone the Lostock office and asked to speak to [name removed] to be told he was in a meeting but they would get him to phone me back today. You guessed it he didn't phone me. So 6 weeks since placing our order Im still left with a finished caravan. This company lie through their teeth, promise you the earth and don't deliver on their promises. My advice is not to part with any final payments until they deliver what you've ordered on time and in full. One thing is for sure Im not unreasonable, in fact Im in sales myself and understand what goes on, but Cambells in my opinion are poor on all fronts as my experience shows. One thing is for sure I will continue to blog until they deliver on there promises and if need be will take this to the small claims court to get them to understand customers are important to them, but satisfied customers more important than making a quick buck. Unhappy customers are not good for business and with the web can affect you very quickly. The choice is there's, my phone number is on there system, my door is open for dialogue all it takes is to engage and solve my concerns.

I agree entirely with your review. We bought a brand new Swift Kudos in July of this year, and were told upon PDI completion that all was in working order, however after five days we received a phone call from their service dept, advising that the 'fridge was not working on gas. This was rectified and now it does not work on the car 12 volt system, which we found out on our arrival in France, as you guessed all the food in the freezer was ruined. They have known about this problem, plus a problem with continual beeping coming from the alarm, since July and as of today's date 28th October and numerous, unreturned telephone calls they have still not rectified the problems

bought a caravan from campells at clifton in may it was supposed to have been serviced prior to collection when we got home we found that parts of the fridge was miissing and an external flap was missing then when we used the van up in scotland we found out the waste pipe where damaged some of these jobs have been sorted but i just keep getting fobbed off about the rest ie not returning phone calls and being fed loads of bull my ad vice is if you are buying a caravan steer well clear of… Read Full Review

Purchased a brand new caravan on 25/01/13 drove home and parked it in the snow on my driveway and placed the winter cover on it. Approximately 5 weeks later when weather cleared, I removed cover and started to load the front outside cupboard area, when I noticed a thin 8" stress fracture in the GRP front panel. I can believe your experience as I'm trying to claim back a cost that I incurred after they replaced a new sink as had to call out a mobile caravan fitter to sort a leak from them which cost me £122 to repair only two days after receiving it back from their workshop which was March 23rd 2013. We are also awaiting an authorisation code for a free Service after all the hassle and poor aftersale service they provided us since we purchased our new caravan July 2012. I am now thinking of taking legal advice and talking to the finance company as am now at end of tether as I phoned Campbells again today and am still awaiting call back. I was promised nearly 2 weeks ago that I would have my money refunded and the authorisation code for service.

They have got your money why should they bother ( that's their attitude)

well said / I am of the same opinion ..they gave us a price for our old van (2008 model) and a figure to change to buy a brand new van / sounded reasonable so was pressurised into paying the £500 deposit to hold the van / went home made a couple more inquiries with 2 more dealers just to see what was on offer and low and behold both the other dealers came back straight away with a better offer than Campbells had given us.
Both giving us an interest rate of 1.53% lower than Campbells and both offering us more for our old van ( one offered £500 more and the other £795 more) so it would be a no brainer.......But .hears the catch The £500 deposit is non refundable.....But Hey! Ho! with repayments @ £43 a month less with A N Other Dealer it makes the van £3096 cheaper over the term >> now if I factor in the £500 which I will lose it still makes the van £2596 cheaper than if I had bought it from Campbells>>>>>>>> so lesson Learnt >>>>Sign nothing till you are sure you have found the right van / Look around , get a few quotes or better still just don't buy from Campbells, you're bound to get a better deal else where

“Dangerous electrics”

We purchased a 2 year old tourer from campbells 4 years ago. Unbeknown to us they had removed the motor mover prior to selling the van. 3 months after purchase and parked on a site we heard a loud bang and burning electrics, no power. Campbells had removed the motor mover and left the power wire under the van. This had made contact with metal and shorted. This nearly caused a fire and scared my kids. I rang them for a Towbar and they sent a someone round called DMT Towbars, He screwed my cars electrics and left the car in an unroadworthy condition which later failed its MOT. It cost a small fortune to repair the vehicle and i didnt get a penny from Campbells or the person that they recommended
