    I went to see the beggars opera last Saturday. It was the updated version with a mixed Australian / British cast.The vocals were excellent. The cast is clearly accomplished. The props and stage set were simple but perfectly adequate to suspend disbelief. I have to say that the lead was less than impressive. I couldn't fault his vocal but his acting abilities were somewhat lacking. At first, i thought it was his character but soon came to realise as he swapped characters throughout the opera that it was just his poor acting abilities.Would I recommend? Yes.
