Good Points: Errr... seems to work better on its side !

Bad Points: Awful, freezes, jumps and stops. Awful remote.

    General comments: Don't bother!

I bought this Acoustic Solutions 451 DVD player from Richer Sounds on their bargain clearout, for a fantastic £39.99. So far, I have been really impressed, and I have had no problems with the player at all. A bargain if you ask me!

I bought two of these Acoustic Solutions 451 dvd palyers then read the review page - oops. All I can say is that my two work perfectly, the remote has features that my Panasonic and Philips players don't, they play any type of DVD disk ( DVD-R,+R, DVDRW etc etc and not skipped a beat even on a backed up Red Hot Chilli Peppers concert. I paid £49.99 from Richer - I wanted to spend less but the cheaper ones don't play DVD-+R. Excellent Value.

Bought my Acoustic Solutions 451 from Richer Sounds after taking their advice on the best player for around £80. They highly recommended this one, giving it glowing praise.

My player intermittently freezes and jumps scenes when playing DVD's, or occassionally just crashes completely and returns to the start.

Richer Sounds highly recommended it for its MP3 playback, but I find it badly distorts the treble range when playing CD's back through my HiFi - OK they're opera CD's, but sopra ...

Bought the Acoustic Solutions 451 from Richer sounds and seemed to play ok except for 3 or 4 10 second "freezes" while watching a film. You could rewind to before freeze and it would play past it. Took back to shop and swapped for new one, which did not work at all. Remote control had to be practically next to the unit to work. Now gone to cyberhome 505 and much better

Ive had this player since Xmas but only recently have I had the time to use the player and all its fuctions.
It plays all my music Cds through my Hi Fi and the sound is fine.
All of my DVDs including nonregion2 discs and a few dodgy copied DVDs from the sunday market!! play fine as well, the picture is great on my wee tv and when I had the opportunity to use it on my mum & dads Tv the picture was fantastic and the sound it kicked out was just as good Ive read from these reviews that there are ...

My wife bought me this unit for Xmas from a short list which I gave her after reading reviews and comments by different people. As of yet I am unable to find a problem with this unit. My co worker bought one to use in his bedroom, he already has a £300.00 Sony which he says is not a patch on this cheap and cheerful product.
Only thing this unit lacks is to be able to play back Jpeg photographic files on my TV.

I wouldn't recommend buying this player. It's got some nice features but has too many flaws while playing. I received it as a christmas present from my parents who were assured by richer sounds that these sold like hotcakes and they didn't have any come back. I have lost my faith in richer sounds for this reason. I haven't the heart to tell my parents its poor because it was so thoughtful of them to buy it. But would like to contact 'acoustic solutions' and give them a piece of my mind, can' ...

I'd LIKE to be singing the praise of this player-(after all, I bought the thing)-but unfortunately that won't be happening, and this won't be a good advert for the machine, nor any other MONSTER, Acoustic Solu...no...Acoustic Pollutions decide to cook up.. ok, so without further ado, here's my advice: DO NOT BUY THIS DVD PLAYER. IT IS ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE. I cannot stress enough how faulty the design of this RUBBISH is. AVOID AVOID AVOID.

Worked well on one TV (2 scart Sony). Only produced a black & white image on my other TV (1 scart Sony). Tried s-video + 2/scart lead and scart/scart lead, but it made no difference.

Bought this Acoustic Solutions 451 DVD player on the recommendation that it plays all formats but the one I bought from Richer Sounds doesn't play VCD or SVCD, not sure why one bought last month does but one bought this month doesn't.
Would have got 10 out of 10 but only gets 8 because of the lack of VCD support.

I am extremly happy with my Acoustic Solutions 451 DVD player (less than £90 worth). It does the lot and remarkably well for the price. The picture can be a tad "dull" but nothing that a tweek of the brightness and contrast buttons on the TV won't sort. There is also brightness and contrast function contained in the menu but I found adjusting the TV gave slightly better results.
I havn't got a Dolby Digital Amplifier yet, but sound reprodution from my Kenwood Pro-Logic system is excelle ...

Those nice people at richer sounds have done it again with this Acoustic Solutions DVD player! The dvd 451 is a great little machine with sharp picture quality and well defined sound. svcd vcd and mp3 a doddle to this unit.
    Great value to boot.....

I brought this Acoustic Solutions 451 DVD player mainly to play svcd that I make from my DV camera. The picture quality is good, I haven't tried the 5.1 sound decoder so can't comment on that. It is as good as my other dvd player an LG in picture quality, but the remote control is not the best. Overall not a bad price £89 for a player that can do most things, but if you don't want the built in decoder go for its cheaper brother the 421 if you can find one.

Exchanged Limit DVD8072 for this Acoustic Solutions 451 DVD player, as the 8072 played VCD's badly, and it's zoom function caused a stuttering jumpy effect. This unit plays VCD's in synch and with great quality. The zoom allows widescreen pictures to be expanded, (with no stutter), and operation is quiet. 5.1 sound is excellent, and only £89.95 Bargain!

My father got a Sony CX850D from richer sounds last year which is multi-region, macrovision remove but it does not convert from NTSC to PAL. Hence the tv we have upstairs would not work with it. Also since now move back home do not have computer in bedroom anymore. we therefore decided we needed to buy our own player but because of recorders coming out now, did not want to spend a fortune only for it to drop drastic in a few months time.

I saw the Acoustic Solutions 421 at Richer Sounds for ...
