My dad bought a Toyota Carina E Xi 1.6 in Leicester in 1992. At that time when he bought it, it had already done 20,000 miles on the clock and costed a fair £8995. The car was a saloon with the 'better looking back end' unlike the smaller hatchback version which you get cabbies driving around in. Other bonuses such as a multicolor patterned and futuristic looking interior and also the great room available in the boot. As of 2012, the car was still going strong at 160,000 miles on the clock. The car had its first grade Toyota clutch changed to a second grade clutch as the clutch was slipping. There's Japanese reliability for you. The interior still remained and is a very good power. Though, there were some bad points. Japanese reliability i would say is mostly focussed on the engine and therefore for such an old car we expected the car to have minor faults such as the heater taking longer to heat up inside. As some of you may know, early Toyota Carinas and Corollas had a major design fault in the exhaust leading to constant whistling. This is also a problem Toyota could've addressed but on the whole a very good car..........until it was stolen! No.plate: K11 KAN If you find it please notify me at: [email protected]
