The first thing I noticed when I opened the mattress was it didn't have that 'new' smell - i.e. it didn't smell of chemicals and foams, just a reassuring smell of wool. I opted for the twist mattress as it's chemical free and we have a cot bed and so wanted something that will provide the right support for both new born and when the child is 5 or 6 and the 5 year guarantee is what sold it to me really. I managed to convince my husband to splash out on The Little Green Sheep Twist cot bed Mattress and thank goodness they didn't let me down or I would have been eating my words! Simply top quality and no chemicals which from what my research brought up, only little green sheep achieve (watch out for other 'natural' cot mattresses claiming this...many still used fire chemicals!). I just wanted to write a review to help other mums out there as I spent ages looking around. There's so many natural products that aren't truly natural and loads of conflicting advice. After a lot of searching I found The Little Green Sheep mattresses in a store in London and they're exactly what I was looking for. I waited in for 2 long consecutive days for a moses basket that my wife ordered online and was promised between 9 and 5 on the previous day If you then add into the mix a delivery company with an 0871 premium rate number (yodel) where you get charged every time you ring them to beg for some sort of meaningful update and it is salt & wounds territory It might be the fault of their delivery company but LGS are responsible for the delivery service they provide and at the time were unable to... Bought from a small local store in West London, felt the little samples and thought it sounded like a great idea to keep things natural. Loved the dual firmness of the twist mattress too. I opted to have mine delivered to my house as didn't want to carry it, it arrived 2 days later and it really is a lovely mattress - I wonder if they do adult sizes!!! :-) I've had it for 6 months now and it's a great mattress and my baby sleeps very well on it so I'm a happy Mummy! “Their basic natural cot mattress is brilliant!”

I didn't buy the organic one, i bought their basic natural coconut one and its fantastic. i bought the basic one because i only have a cot and the sprung mattress that came free is rubbish and sagged almost instantly. This one however seems nice and firm and springy and the quilted cover is really soft. I ordered it on Wednesday morning and it arrived the next day which i thought was pretty good considering it's not the smallest of items! I bought the Great mattress, really good price.... I can now sympathise with all mums and dads out there! We are expecting our first child in a few months and it is unbelievable how confusing the world of prams, mattresses and cots is! Anyway to be honest the reason we went with this mattress (in addition to the good reviews) is just because the website and service was simply and clear...music to my ears at the time! Absolutely head and shoulders above any other cot mattress out there - I wish we'd found this before our first sprog was born; sadly she slept (quite badly) on an over priced sprung one from a large national retailer where we bought the nursery furniture from. But with our second child she sleeps on this mattress and she sleeps much better and for longer, obviously this may not be solely down to the cot mattress but the quality of this product and the fact it doesnt stink of chemicals is... I bought this mattress last year and it really is brilliant - only down side is they don't do adult sizes!!! My charlie sleeps through and it still looks brand new. Definitely get their protector though-much better than horrible plastic ones.
Great mattress, great support, great service. Best mattress out there by a long way! Highly recommended!

Hi yes I agree with all the comments so far, it really is an excellent mattress (I have the moses basket mattress and the cot bed mattress for our cot bed). We've had the cot bed mattress for around 4 years now since they first started and it is still in great shape! We are going to use our Moses basket mattress again - i know people recommend not to but that's for the cheap foam ones I don't see why we can't re-use our organic wool and cotton one!

As most people have said, The Little Green Sheep Organic Cot Bed Mattress is exceptional quality and support, however initial cost is a fair bit more. I spoke with Mark who after some persuading gave me free delivery, which is worth haggling for as it is normally £10 so give it a go.
I'd strongly recommend this to anyone purchasing a cot mattress, it will last forever and whether you're 'green' or 'ethical' or not the fact it is made in the UK and chemical free is a great reassurance!

Hi, my name is Mark Nicholls and I am one of the co-founders of The Little Green Sheep. Having read this review I am obviously disapointed with the feedback. We always strive for excellent customer service and feedback is crucial to help us improve as a company. Despite the problems we had with our courier on this occasion, we were in constant contact with both the customer and courier company to ensure the parcel got delivered later that evening. The Little Green Sheep has now switched to a new delivery company to ensure that problems like this do not occur again, and we now looking to implement a guaranteed pre-12 and pre-10 service option on all mattress and mose basket orders to UK mainland addresses.
