Good Points: My favourite period of history novelised. A fascinating time, interesting to see it taken down to a subjective perspective in opposition to the objectivity of history books. Well written, good empathy created with main characters.

Bad Points: Speculation on history can cause frustrations with things you have read/heard/believed before.

General comments: Philippa Gregory, The Other Boleyn Girl is about my favourite period of history novelised. A fascinating time, interesting to see it taken down to a subjective perspective in opposition to the objectivity of history books. Well written, good empathy created with main characters. Phillipa Gregory should never have allowed them to make a film with her book's title that was so starkly different and unhistoric! The book was much better than the film!

Phillipa Gregory, The Other Boleyn Girl is very readable. Definitely a good novel to tuck in your bag for your next holiday. Although not entirely historically factual in places, its a great insight into how life might have been in Henry III's court. I loved the characters and their webs of deceit vying for royal attention and approval.

I liked The Other Boleyn Girl by Philippa Gregory. It was very well written, and the authentic word choice and style was what really drew me in. I think that she made Anne Boleyn a tad too cold and calculating, and that she had very little feelings of the heart, but it was a good read and I enjoyed reading it.

Philippa Gregory, The Other Boleyn Girl was the best book I ever read, until I read the second one in that trilogy! It was a real page turner!
