This is a wonderfull book. It can be seen as an allegory on the meaning of life and how to be happy. It seems to suggest that as complicated and obscure as things might appear, the real answer is always much simpler. It is also written in a simple and easy-to-read manner, like most of Coellho's books. It is evocative and familiar, fulfilling and mellow. Highly recommended.

I have to say that even though I only rated the book 4 out of 10, I quite enjoyed reading it. Worth the money for a couple of hours' reading entertainment, or for those who enjoy moral-filled fables (not me). The idea of the alchemist is built up to so well, but the actual meeting with the alchemist is skimmed over in a few pages. I wouldn't bother reading any of his other works and I would not recommend this book to a friend, but I wouldn't really warn them off. (read more)

The Alchemist: A Fable About Following Your Dream is a wonderful story book to read. It's a story of self-discovery, of being open to possibilities and rather than fall into the safe boundaries created by yourself. It's an adventure story about letting go, and just seeing where events lead. A beautiful book to read. I would recomend this book to everyone I meet. The story is unforgetable.
The mark of a good book is when you pick it up read it and fall into a different world, you find...

Paulo Coelho, The Alchemist: A Fable About Following Your Dream - A book is a good book when you remember it and recall it and keep talking about it, but sadly with the Alchemist, I don't remeber much. Come to think of it, some sheep, a church and desert, I guess.
Nah, not worth it.
