A.R. Humphreys was one of those highly intelligent masters of exposition (like Harold Jenkins - see his wonderful editorship of the Arden Shakespeare Hamlet)who, particularly today, should serve as an exemplar for all Shakespeare critics. Intuitive insights, eloquent command of the language, exemplary scholarship, heartening thoroughness make this the only edition of this magnificent play worth considering. (read more)
