Hired the gate house, the carpets were filthy, mattress stained, cold, damp, mouldy, cracks filled with tissue, radiators falling off of the walls and the smell was that awful we left the following morning only as we could not find somewhere the same night. We were appalled with what we had given to us, to rent such a horrid place was just disgusting. Most definetley would not recommend to anyone. Don't waste your time and hard earn money on such filth! over the days me and my family have stayed it has been fun their is a beach close to the site and shops i would recommend this to anyone. the shop on site is good. but the new trip meter they have put on dose not allow you to have alot of electrical appliances in because it causes the electric to trip. the caravans are nicely spaced apart not like on other sites we all had great fun so i hope to go again soon. I was shocked to read the not so good reviews,we have been visiting this caravan park for years, and have never had a bad van,we usually pay to get a silver or gold van and it is still great value for money,it is near to great beaches and padstow, and half the price of some nearby parks,i have stayed at others but maribou gets my vote. The family are great and always helpful.Yes i like luxury and with the gold vans you get it as far as caravans go,so why pay over 1000 pounds for the same van on... We went here a few years ago and were horrified to realise that it was one of the tatty sites we had laughed at while looking around campsites on a previous visit to Cornwall. I wish we had noted doen the name at that time, Ok, here's the good bit....the caravan was clean. The site was rough and dirty. The family who run it were unhelpful. My clothes smelled of chip fat after using the laundry's washing machines. Later in the holiday i saw a member of staff washing out the washcloths from... (read more)

We cam across this site whilst looking for a caravn site.the site is an excellent family run place and the value for money excellent . The whole family run the site and will help you whatever the problem. Yes it's not top of the range but what iyou get on site and it's location near great beaches is far better than other sites charging far more for less ! The caravan was spacious and very clean with kids play areas . It located near st meryn which is an excellent Cornish village And all... (read more)

we love cornwall & always will, we have been visiting the area for quite a few years with the kids & now just the 2 of us. We found that Maribou is not high end, but clean & tidy.At present the caravans are being upgraded & we were disappointed that the caravan we usually stop in had been replaced, but when we got there we found that the one that we had been allocated was much larger & better. The site has entertainment in the club house which cater for children. It has a games room for the... (read more)

when we first pulled onto the nice part of the site we were impressed, then you come to the end and into Maribou, and all i can say is that our hearts sank, was like something back 20 years ago, caravans green, broken down cars that had been there years, old toilets outside some vans that had had new ones in, my husband and daughter were gutted, no facilities unless you like rough looking ones, and now i know why they chose to not have it officially rated, the kids tiny park had used tampons... This site was rather amazing it is a quite yet up beat site were people and staff are friendly and you can have a laugh with all the people on the site which is very nice to know. The cafe was amazing as it is cheap and lovely homemade food which is amazing and love the taste of a good old home cooked meal. I recommend people to vist this site as it is very lovely st merryn is only a mile away and tescos is about 4miles away and the nearst shopping place is newquay which 7miles. I enjoyed my... Very odd little site. It has some very rough edges to it but is still used by some obviously wealthy people (when it comes to owned caravans at least). It is a park within a park and when you go through the posh park into Maribou you may think you have gone 20 years into the past. They don't seem to have a time limit on the age of caravans so quite a few are very tired and green with age others or very expensive and modern looking. All the staff we came across were very grizzled and rough... (read more)

If you went there 'a few years ago', and hated it so much, why has it taken you so long to review it?
We have been going to Maribou for 7 years and would not stay anywhere else in Cornwall. I think you are describing somewhere else.If you stay in a caravan, you have to expect some noise from other campers.
Next time, stay in Scotland..better still, the outer Hebrides might suit you. Maribou is friendly, clean, brilliant helpful staff, great family entertainment, excellent facilities, amazing location and value for money! DONT avoid!! You will have a brilliant holiday here :)
