“UA SFO office did great work.”

★★★★★

written by yanmin8 on 20/06/2016

If there were ten stars I would give it to United airlines at SFO a ten star as their staff reached out up and beyond in helping us out. We were supposed to take airflight with UA from SFO to canada then get connected to China. Because our agent failed to notify us a change in the schedule, we missed the UA flight. Now there was no way we could get to Canada on time to catch the international flight operated by airchina. we spent one hour on the phone with our flight agent but nothing could be done. All the crew we talked to in the airport rightfully (but not helpfully) told us that they could do nothing as they could not touch on the ticket. we were told to wait for another 6 hours in the airport until airchina opened their service, when there was no guarantee there was seat available. As we fell into despair, she found out our needy situation and spent time looking into the flight schedule and was able to help us aboard the next UA flight from SFO to China directly. I admit there was some luck as there were seats available. however, we do feel that her conscientious work has saved us from deep, deep trouble. She could have easily told us to wait until Airchina came and could have done nothing, for which we could not blame at her at all. But she went up and beyond to help us. I feel this makes United Airlines totally different from other airline companies. I also took United Airlines multiple times before. their service has been overall decent and satisfactory. in the end, I feel United Airlines SFO office deserves a 5-start credit.

“Outstanding Customer Service Under Difficult Circumstances”

★★★★★

written by on 07/03/2015

A true measure of customer service is during difficult circumstances. Our flight was on 21 Feb, Ottawa to Belize. It was a very bad day for weather across the U.S. Due to flight delays, we only made it to Houston on our first day (missed Houston to Belize). The agents in Houston were VERY helpful in arranging hotel and meal chits, and getting us on an early flight to Belize the next morning. Also, my daughter and her friend travelled to Belize on the same day but different flight connections. Their original flight through Newark was cancelled due to weather. Their rescheduled flight through Washington was then cancelled due to weather. The agent in Ottawa was VERY helpful in getting them on another airline through Toronto, Miami and then Belize. OUTSTANDING service during very difficult circumstances.

“Great flight and compliments”

★★★★★

written by lindalouis on 30/01/2015

My wife and I where flying from New York to Los Angeles in first class. About halfway through the flight my wife realized she had left some very expensive jewelry, her wallet and credit cards a large amount of cash in the hotel room safe. The stewardess (who was extremely nice and friendly from the moment we boarded) came and we told her our situation. She contacted the Captain and he contacted United Customer Service in Chicago who in turn contacted my daughter in New York and my daughter recovered our property from the hotel to my wife's great relief. I can't say enough about the staff aboard that flight (#443 on Jan 26th 2015). We fly United almost exclusively and will always fly them first. We were among the first off the flight, but my wife and I waited for the plane to empty so we could personally thank the captain.

“Would like to thank United Airlines”

★★★★★

written by jenya0617 on 14/07/2014

We would like to compliment the staff of United Airlines for the courtesy they showed us last night and all their help. We had to contact the airline 4 times with different questions and re-book the flight for a different date due to the current situation in the Middle East. They were very polite, knowledgeable, attentive and so helpful. We were so impressed with the ease of dealing with the airline and the service, that we felt compelled to write and pay them a big compliment. Thank you guys for all the assistence and patience with us. Keep up the good work! Evgenia and Natalia Ustinova

“Saved by United Airlines Staff”

★★★★★

written by on 31/05/2014

I was saved by the kindest most thoughtful staff of United Airlines. I thank God for them and how the aided me in my time of despair. I had booked a flight through the STAtravel agency. All my attempts to have them to abide by their written stated policy were simply overlooked. Offered to fax the agent whom I had spoken with the documents that they sent me which he simply told me it didn't make any difference. That no changes in any reservations or rerouting or times or destinations were allowed regardless to what the documents stated. when I informed him that the documents stated that changes in a reservation more than 24 hours after purchase would incur the current change fee. He promptly informed me that that fee was the cost of the ticket. This simply meant that I was out $500.00. However he said he would be happy to book another flight for me! There ws not anything he could do, but maybe I could call the corporate headquarters of the Airline and they might help me, yes he was a true comedian! Now I know why they don't have an address on their papers! Anyway after he hung up on me and I knew that it made no sense to call him back because I had been royally rippedoff, I should take this as a lesson learned and be happy that it was only $500.00. I was resolved to go on my merry way. However I remembered that the lady at the ticket counter had asked me to tell her what the travel agency said about a refund or reroute. So I went to do this only because I told her that I would, not expecting anything from them because I had paid my money weeks ago to the travel agency fully expecting them to abide by their publicly stated written ticket rules and restrictions. As I approached the ticket counter there were now three ladies standing there. An Africn-American lady, a Korean lady and a white lady. I informed her/them that they said it was nothing I could do, the reservations could not be refunded, or rerouted, changed or anything. I would have to purchase a completely new ticket. All three ladies as if on a previously arranged signal all reached for the electronic devices on their hips and started typing away. They started speaking to each other about various alternatives etc, The Korean lady offered to continue their research as the other two ladies tended to customers. The would immediately come back and assist her after they no longer busy. Finally the Korean Lady had to leave to consult with someone about the whole situation. She returned By this time I was on pins and needles and holding my heart in my sweating palms. She gave me an affirmative answer because United airlines had already been paid for the flight. She promptly gave me a new flight schedule round trip as the other lady called the gate for them to hold my flight. However now the flight was full and was scheduled for takeoff NOW>. She told me to hurry up and run there anyway, just in case. To my amazement someone who was previously there had left and had not returned and they could not wait for them any longer, so I got their seat. WOW I even got the window seats I had previously requested on all of my connecting flights. When I arrived at the city for my last connecting flight the connecting flight I was told might be held up because of an approaching electrical storm coming in from the Western Rockies. However somehow at the last minute the storm simply DISAPPEARED! The flight took off on time and immediately climbed over the snow storm and arrived at my final destination on-time. I know that God is in control of all things and I am grateful to Him and for the United airlines ticket people who went way above and beyond their call of duty to help me. I was finished because I did not have the money for another ticket! I have to think of something nice and thoughtful that I could do for them. If anyone has any ideas please inform me, PS:"I am not rich."

“Such an amazing experience”

★★★★★

written by AmandaSeattle on 30/12/2013

My husband, dog, and I had the best and most uneventful flying experience we have ever had on our last flight home from visiting family for the holidays. We brought our little dog as my emotional therapy pet and she sits on my lap for flights. When we checked in, the lady was especially helpful and asked if we would prefer a direct flight at a later time, but would be arriving at the same time, due to the flight being overbooked - of course we did! Then, when we were on the plane, the flight attendants were overly courteous and sweet with us and our dog. One of them gave us her left over steak for our pup and another attendant gave us a whole bottle of water to share with her. Truly the best flight we have experienced in the several occasions we have flown across the country, which has not always been the case, especially when we have our dog with us.

“BEST airline ever”

★★★★★

written by JamesBenefield on 07/05/2013

My wife and I chose to fly United Airline based solely on price. I have been flying since I was born, from small 2-seater airplanes to large airline passenger jets. My father was a pilot and my parents have owned an airport since before I was born, we still own an airport to this day (I was born over 43 years ago). I have never had such an excellent flying experience in all my life. We started our trip off at the Little Rock airport on 4-20-13. Our first flight was number 4412, Little Rock to Houston, which had a departure time of 8 a.m. not only was our flight on time, it was actually early. Our lay over time was perfect not too long, but long enough to stretch our legs, use the restroom, grab a bite to eat, and relax for a few moments. Our next flight was number 1408, Houston to Belize City, Belize, which had a departure time of 10:15 a.m. This flight was also early. No delays on either flight. The quality, level of experience, hospitality, professionalism, politeness, and respect for the passenger is unparalleled by any other airline. This is everyone from the ticket counter, to the pilots, to the flight attendants. This was the type of first class service we received as coach passengers. Our trip home was on 4-27-13 our flight number was 1405, Belize City, Belize to Houston, which had a departure time of 12:45 p.m.. This flight was also a little early. When we reached the Houston airport, the transition at customs was very smooth. Our lay over time was once again perfect, just as before. Unfortunately a thunder storm had moved into the area and all flights were grounded. Our next flight was number 3852, Houston to Little Rock, which had a departure time of 6:50 p.m. We had a weather delay of about 45 minutes. Once it was safe to fly United got us out of there in a timely and efficient manner. United made sure it was safe and that our lives would not be in any danger. When we got to Little Rock, what truly impressed me was that the pilots actually got in there and helped the ramp guys with our luggage. United has some extremely awesome employees. Like I stated above, the quality, level of experience, hospitality, professionalism, politeness, and respect for the passenger is unparalleled by any other airline. As I said this goes for ALL United employees. On a side note I would like to acknowledge that our luggage was not lost or damaged in any way. I did observe one downside to flying on United, that was the absence of complementary snacks. At least they still have complementary beverages. I would like to add that I am a very, very picky person and it is almost impossible to please me.

“Outstanding customer services”

★★★★★

written by Michael_Houston on 29/03/2013

My name is Michael who booked flight with cheapOair on 09/27/2012 which was cancelled due to my sickness. My doctor had sent in a "travel waiver" for my condition on 10/11/2012. CheapOaire denied it had received nothing from my doctor. I've tried 4 different cheapOair agents to book my current flight and used my credit from cancel trip to apply it toward the purchase of ticket of the current flight. All of my attempts with cheapOair's agents failed miserable with line hung up, dropped line during transfer, or generally dont' care. I turned to United airlines and asked for help to book my current planned flight and got [name removed] (based out of Honolulu) who spent 2.5 hrs to help me with my ordeal. She helped me book my flight, arranged better routings so I can save money and I saved a lot of money through her assistance (~ over $2000 usd). I also got my United Travel Mileage accounts set up with her assistance. Her manner was calm, professional and yet caring made me felt very comfortable and trusted her throughout the whole process. Ms. Washington is an exemplified example of excellent customer service which is a lost art in today business environment. I was not a fan of United Airlines but I am now due to Ms. Washington's work ethics. I sincerely wish Ms. Washington the best in whatever she chooses to do. Michael T. Nguyen

“Customer Service Compliment-April Joy”

★★★★★

written by haroldsc on 19/01/2013

On January 5, 2013, I was uanable to print my pre-boarding passes for January 6 United flights #1507 from Phoenix to Houston, and #611 from Houston to Ft Myers. I contacted customer service by phone and spoke with April Joy. She not only did an amazing job of correcting a computer problem with my flight which also involved another airline, but in addition she kept me informed as she was working the fix. I very much appreciated her great customer service attitude! If I were hiring someone with her skill sets, I would hire her in a heartbeat! Thank you April!

“A good airline”

★★★★★

written by Mucktrouty on 14/12/2012

I flew with united airlines from heathrow to Newark and have to say having read their reviews was Not looking forward to the trip. However I have flew with many air lines to other parts of the world and have to say I couldn't fault united or the flight. The staff were pleasant, food and drinks were free (except alcoholic) :( and the seats with normal legroom etc. the in flight entertainment (films) were free and were new realised titles. I couldn't fault them one bit. At the end of the day people only post on these forums to complain, having had a pleasant experience with united I thought they could do with a bit of praise and would deffinatly fly with them again.

“Very surprised”

★★★★★

written by on 20/10/2012

First of all, I never, ever write reviews. Yesterday I was trying to book a flight for my boyfriend who is in the military. I saved all the information, and thought I purchased Farelock, to lock in the fare of $231. Today I went back to purchase the ticket after confirming the details with my boyfriend, and there was no record of it, and the fare had gone up to $417! I was hesitant to even call customer service because I knew it was going to be close to impossible to sway them to give me the price I got yesterday. I spoke with a very nice woman, explained what had happened, and she put me on hold for about 2 minutes while she spoke to her manager. When she came back to the phone she was able to give me the price of $231. I honestly could not believe it.

★★★★★

written by on 10/01/2010

I have flown several of the major airlines in the United States and have been the most pleased with United. When our connecting flight from Chicago to Seattle was delayed we got to Seattle a little late, our plane for San Francisco had already left. We went to the counter, the counter person was very apologetic. We were given food vouchers so we could go and get something to eat while we waited, we were upgraded to first class flying home from San Francisco, and we were told we would be on the next plane. We didn't even have time to eat the food we went and got with the food vouchers the next plane was there so fast. She also sat us near the emergency exit on that flight so we would have more leg room. All in all a great experience!

“I have flown over 850,000 miles on united all...”

★★★★★

written by on 16/07/2009

I have flown over 850,000 miles on united all domestic. Although I must say United's First Class is far from what it used to be, prior to 9/11 I have always been treated with respect and appreciation. I am frequently upgraded to First Class as I was on this flight. The flight attendants were great as was their service and professionalism. We did have a mechanical delay on the first flight of this trip and United sent via email a travel certifcate worth $150. I did not ask for this, it was just given to me a a way of apologizing for the delay. I made my connection with no problem and my second flight was also very enjoyable with great service. I like United airlines, but do hope they improve the quality of food served in First Class.

This was a GREAT travel experience. You may think that I am a savvy Frequent Flier with 1K status, think again. I do travel a lot on United and one day hope to become a 1K, BUT at this time I am just a general UA MP member. With 10,893 Miles. I got my confirmed upgrade for my flight 64 SFO-SNA and we boarded the plane about 5 minutes ahead of schedule. I sat down in the lovely CLEAN aircraft, the first seat on this Boeing 757. We left promptly around 7:30 AM. I had been up since 3:00 in the morning and it was especially nice to have this great service. (I woke up at 3 because my flight from SMF was at 5:45 am.) We arrived at 9:18 am, 2 minutes from our scheduled arrival time. This was an absolutely GREAT experience! Mind you, I am only young so they would not be giving me this great service because I'm like elderly or something. lol

“I have flown with United Airlines on 9 occasions....”

★★★★★

written by LAWLLACE on 02/06/2008

I have flown with United Airlines on 9 occasions. Everything as always gone to plan. I will summarise as follows:

Punctuality - always been on time. Never any delays. Excellent

Seating - Average seating space but very comfortable. Better than other carriers.

Food - Better than other US carriers.

Entertainment. The same as other US carriers. However, on some United flights, they are introducing seatback TV's.

Professionalism - excellent
If you want to get from A to B with a professional Airline, look no further than United. I will always book with this Airline - so should you.

My sister and I are currently in a dispute with United Airlines for compensation under European Regulation EC261 due to the cancellation of our flight from Heathrow to Newark in May. We were rerouted via Frankfurt on Lufthansa and eventually arrived in New York over 10 hours later. We were told by United Airlines staff that we were entitled to compensation under EU legislation but UA now disagree saying the problems with the plane were beyond their control. We have tried to establish exactly what the problems were but have had no luck. They will not deal with our complaint by telephone or email insisting we have to write to them. As we live in the UK this means we have to send everything via airmail. We are not giving up but really need to know what the technical fault was to fight our case. I noticed from the reviews I have read that United Airlines seem to have a lot of mechanical problems with their planes. Does anyone have any advice on best way to take our case forward? It would be much appreciated.

You should call the Attorney General and report your problem, we did and she tried to help us but it didn't work out. United Airlines won't pay us back for part of our flight problems. You can write United directly but they only give you a bunch of garbage for answers, they don't really care about the passengers.
