Since January 2010, the Holbeck Ghyll Restaurant has been under new ownership and the dogs have gone. Substantial investment in both the kitchen and front of house, including new chairs, carpets, lighting and crockery, has been undertaken along with continual improvements in the menu. The stunning view over Lake Windermere, however, remains the same!

We stayed at this hotel on the recommendation of a friend - never again. i understand that it is under new ownership since out friends had visited. i must say that i cannot believe this is still a michelin star restaurant. Bland food served with no imagination, at breakfast waiter dropped my bread roll on table picked it up and placed it on my plate, Oh come on! STANDARDS!! (read more)

The food at Holbeck Ghyll is very good although the service on a busy Saturday night was slow. The down side however is that the owner's black labrador invades your space whilst enjoying pre dinner drinks and therefore when your table is ready you need to take a trip to wash your hands before eating.
