This microphone is excellent for recording interviews and music performances. It is a device optimized to hendheld recorders, don't try to use it as part of stage sound system. The 'viewing' angle is adjustable in two steps, from 90 to 120 degrees. It is rather omnidirectional in terms of picking up the surround noises.
