“THE WORST EXPERIENCE IN MY LIFE!!!!!!!”

Never thought that my holiday could be almost ruined in such a away! We booked one of the apartments in Rome in the end of September 2013 for the 9th - 13th of May 2014. In one or two days we received an e-mail giving us the adress and the mobile phone number of the person whom we were to contact on our arrival to Rome. Also we were told to have the necessary amount of money to give it to that very person. OK,no problem! We were looking for to our holiday because before going to Rome we were going to Portugal for 10 days. So we were having really great time travelling around Portugal when 11 hours before the flight to Rome we got an e-mail from Pillow Apartments informing us of the fact that our booking had been cancelled! Just imagine, we're staying in a foreign country and the next day we're to fly to once again a foreign counrty without nowhere to stay at!!! Thanks God we had a laptop and there was Wi-Fi in our apartment in Lisbon and we managed to book a fantastic villa near Via Appia Antica! The "wonderful" managers of the Pillow Apartments just informed us that there was some problem with our credit card and they simply cancelled our booking. And that's really strange because before that moment we had used the card a lot (booked hotels and apartments, rented cars )and there had never been any problems. Of what we immedaitely informed the Pillow Apartments but got no reply! Why couldn't they check the card immediately, why did they make us feel so stressed?!!!! For me and my family there's only one explanation. These unfair and careless managers decided to get some profit by having cancelled our booking which was made long time ago and to sell it to somebody else at a higher price of course cause it's the peak of the holiday season in Rome now. NEVER WOULD I RECOMMEND ANYBODY TO DEAL WITH THIS ROTTEN FIRM SITUATED IN BARCELONA!!!!!!

“Penthouse plaza catalunya”

We were with our family, 2 teenage girls. We all had a great time. The apartment was as luxe as was told. In the middle of Barcelona, near Plaza Catalunya, metro, etc. Two terasses, so always a quiet or sunny place. Jacuzzi for the evening! Good beds, one single bed was put extra, because there were two doublebeds. Our compliments also to the staf of pillow apartments, as well as the owner of the apartment. Fridge was filled with drinks and at the table some cookies and chips were served. Service was super. Thanks for a great time!

“5 star Barcelona apartment - Born district”

Apartment was of a very high standard with lots of space and well equipped. Beds were very comfortable. Representative from Pillow apartments was friendly and professional. born district is one of our favourite areas of Barcelona and we would happily stay here again.

“Well equipped, modern, convenient. ”

Stayed for three nights. Uncomplicated check-in outside of the normal check-in-period at 3 PM. We were met by a pleasant young man who ran through the main features of the apartment with us. Beds were comfy, and all equipment worked, with the exception of a lamp-shade on one of the bedside lamps. It fell off at first touch! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and I can truly recommend the apartment. The kids loved it too!

“Excellent place to stay!”

This was an amazing apartment! We were 2 families with little babies, so we only booked for 2 nights, not knowing if it would be in each other's way too much. Knowing what the apartment is like now, we should have stayed for longer! Great location, very neat furniture, everything you need is there... even a tumble dryer! All at a fair price. If i ever go to barcelona again i would stay at the same place.

“location, style, quiet”

The location is great, on the edge of the old city and across from Ciutadella Parc, so you're in the hub of the city but can retreat to a quiet space at night. The apartment is well laid out with modern and comfortable Italian furniture and appliances. The linens on the bed were linen. Coming from North America we would have liked a bit more orientation from our greeter, but we were able to familiarize ourselves with the apartment and the area very quickly. Would not hesitate to recommend the apartment to friends.

“The apartament Barceloneta Terraza 5 Penthouse in...”

Let me begin by saying we are New York City residents who are not that picky when it comes to our rentals but we like clean, comfortable, well located apartments when we travel. We booked an apartment through these people on aug 1 for a 9/24 arrival. The apartment was to be located in the Borne section of Barcelona. One day before arrival we received an email stating there was a problem with the apartment owner and we were to be moved to the above apartment. This concerned me as i had read on the internet that this was a common occurrence with this agency. We have rented apartments all over Europe ( London, Rome, Venice, Berlin, Amsterdam, Nice, Copenhagen) and this has never happened before. We had no choice but to take this booking as it was literally less than 24 hours before our departure. About the apartment we ended up in: it is as described but in need of a refresh. The furniture is worn and the amenities in the apartment could use updating. The internet works fine. The location is a 6 out of 10. If there is any street noise it sounds as if it is right next to you. There is an amusement park right across the street which blares music until 1 AM on the weekends so if you want quiet before then this is not the place for you. On the whole for a luxury rental (which is what it is billed as) we would give it a 4 out of 10. As a moderate rental (which is what it really is) we would rate 6 out of 10. If you are a couple like us in your mid 50's who are no strangers to late nights or noise then you should look to stay in the gracia section or L'exiampe as they are more like the nicer sections of NY we are accustomed to. As for trusting this agency I would be wary.

Thanks for your review about our apartment and service!
As you were well aware we did change you from one apartment to the other because there was a problem with the original apartment you had booked. We never meant to cause any inconvenience or trouble, we have apologized than and we apologize now. Sometimes in high season there are unpredictable issues that we can´t solve in time.
I would like to add that we changed you to an apartment that was about 300€ more expensive than the original one, (you can compare the prices in our website), with all the similar options/services but with a nicer spacious terrace and a very nice view of the whole harbour area and Barcelona. We don´t fully agree with your rating of the 2nd apartment but nonetheless we respect is and we have passed your comments to the direct owner that is responsible to update it.

“Excellent service Given in two different european cities. ”

My wife and I and our two adult children stayed in the two room apartment in the Pantheon area during our stay in Rome. One of the reasons we chose this property was because it was located next to the pantheon , few minutes walk from Campo dei Fiori, Piazza Navona, Trevi Fountain and the Trastevere. We used the same agency in other travels (Barcelona) and we liked the high level of the properties and the good service given by the staff (the gentleman who let us in was incredibly helpfull and patient !) . We would reccomend the pantheon apartment to those who want to be in a foreign and magical city like Romehaving alkl the comforts of your own house--- and that's difficult sometimes ! We will use pillow rome service again. Keep on the good work guys !

My wife and I and our two adult children stayed in a two bedroom property next to the main Park in Barcelona, in the Borne area. One of the reasons we chose this property was because it was we used the same agency in Rome and also because it was located close enough to Ramblas and interesting sites we wanted to visit. The apartment was modern with design furniture and really liked the new bedding and the explanations given by the gentleman who was waiting for our arrival. Apartment Clean and very well maintained, quite and perfectly equipped. A good experience overall and would have no hesitation to go back and to reccomend to my family and friends.

“Clean Apartment, Good service”

Nice, nice, very nice: The Barcelona Terrace apartment was very quiet -on the top floor- a very large living room with great views and a small terrace. There is a lot of natural light as the apartment is on the top floor and only the living room itself has huge windows. And veiw of Barcelona from the top Terrace : simply Amazing. The apartment is well maintained and was very clean when we checked in. The location of Barceloneta Borne is perfect since it is few blocks from the Beach, ten minutes from good restaurants and Hotel Arts, few minutes from las Ramblas and the Gothic quarter . The kitchen has all the necessary utensils to Cook, also microwave oven and a dryer (never seen it in Europe!). The staff of the agency was very helpful before we booked -e-mails were answered promptly the same day- and after we booked for the additional requests we had (airport transfer and baby cot) . We also booked their pick up service from the airport and everything was handled in a very professional way, also by the driver. Price was average for the Season but compared to Hotel rates was much more convenient.

“Reccomended”

Here is my experience with Pillow apartments Barcelona: my rather large family, eight total, decided on Barcelona for a Summer vacation and I don't think it would have been possible to find a more suitable apartment for our stay, we made also Pictures to show it to frinds and to whom it migh be interested. . We rented the Borne apartment in Plaza the las olles (hope I got the spelling right!) This is not just a three bedroom apartment in the center of Barcelona: every bedroom bedroom has an indipendent bathroom which feels more like its three separate apartments . The entire apartment is well taken care of and offers so many amenities, including a modern kitchen with every utensil you'll need and a flat screen television in every room and in the spacious living room. Finally, and perhaps most importantly, as Americans we weren't very familiar with the lock for the front door and found ourselves struggling to get in. (Our own fault for not paying more close attention.) We called Paco and he was literally at the apartment within five minutes! Oh, and the freshly-baked pie upon arrival was absolutely delicious. If you have a large family or wish to travel with a small group of six or eight, you cannot go wrong with this property of pillwo apartments.

We booked this Borne apartment following the suggestion of friends that had been there two years ago. They was enthusiastic about the apartment, the location, the price and servise received by the staff. For this reason we were quite relaxed when we booked it and when we arrived we had no surprises. It's true that the apartment is really comfortable .We took lots of pics of the apartment and showed them to friends when we went back home and they were all very impressed. The place is quiet, with good natural light and well kept. A place we would recommend with no hesitations.

“An awful experience - that went from bad to worse!”

I have never written a bad review about anyone before , but feel it is important to other travellers not to undergo the same problems that we had on our recent trip to Barcelona. In chronological order, the problems we experienced were as follows: Arrived in Barcelona to a text advising that we were no longer staying at the apartment we had booked, and given a number to contact to meet at the new apartment. Upon meeting at the new apartment, we were advise that the apartment we had booked had water damage, and that we would be moved to this apartment for a maximum of 2 nights only and that they would sort us out something after that. The representative wanted us to pay the full weeks deposit of 200 Euros , despite being moved last minute to a different apartment with no guarantee of another one. We had to argue with the guy , and after an hour of arguing agreed to pay him 100 Euros as it was late at night in Barcelona, and we didn’t really have any other options. The next day pillow apartments advised us that they could not find us any new accommodation. After repeated phone calls to an international number, which was very expensive, they agreed to give us our money back and stay free of charge in our friends apartment (luckily we had other friends travelling with us). We moved to the new apartment (which was smaller and dirtier than it looked on the advert). The air conditioning unit didn’t work, and the electrical supply kept going off due to water leaking from the roof of the apartment. The water was a brown colour and we were also worried about hygiene. The representative suggested that it may have been water dripping from the upstairs toilet , and quickly took it back when I started to complain. The electrician was called the first time and seemed to fix it , however on the 2nd to last day, water was leaking through so badly that the electricity was completely off and we were scared to flick the trip switch as we had been advised to do. We asked pillow apartments to come back as we were worried about our belongings and our safety if we stayed in the flat. Pillow Apartments moved us to a new apartment overnight , we were advised that this was the only one available. We were told it was the original apartment my boyfriend and I were booked in. It was small, dirty, and was infested with insects. The two friends who had kindly let us share their flat, had to share a futon. We had no covers as there was only covers for 2 people in that apartment. The “outside area” that was advertised, was a shared outside area (not clear in the advert) and was basically a smoking area for the whole block of apartments. You could not open the windows in the apartment due to either smoke from the shared area or the noise from the traffic on the other side of the apartment. Facilities were shared (ie washing machine) with other apartments and the bathroom was smaller than a cupboard. We were grateful that we had not spent over 500 GBP staying in this apartment as it was disgusting. We went back to the apartment the next day. A cleaner arrived as we had been advised , and stayed for about 5 minutes to mop up the water. No detergent or anti bacterial product was used for cleaning. We got to the apartment at 9.00am and saw no sign of an electrician. We emailed and visited pillow apartments to complain during this day and evening , and still have had no response. We are generally very accepting people , and appreciate that things don’t always happen as planned. However , in this instance , we felt we were being taken advantage of and our holiday to Barcelona was ruined by the bad management at Pillow Apartments.

Rented an apartment in Barcelona with Pillowapartments last week 17 february 2011, for 3 GSM world mobile trade fair. The apartment was booked direclty through the website of pillowapartments.com. Never seen the place before, chose the apartment for me and my collegues through te pictures and location. Clean, comfortable, check in staff always on time, helpfull in replying our questions by email before our arrival and later on the phone while in Barcelona. The apartment itself was very central as promised, clean. Coffe machine was missing but delivered the same day of our arrival. Good quality beds and linens, apartment full of light, definetly will use them again when going to Barcerlona.

We rented through pillow apartment las summer 2010. The apartment was beautiful, well taken care of, in the heart of the city, and exactly as shown in the pictures. Staff was exceptionally nice and helpful. He gave us maps of the city and shared an overview of key places to visit, answered all our questions and arranged for taxis (with car seat) for our return ride to the airport. Overall a fantastic experience! We will rent here again!

I just wanted to add my very recent (1 weeks ago) positive experience of pillow apartments.
We were a family of 4 (dad 75, two 40 something siblings, one teens 11 years) and stayed in the Barceloneta terrace for 6 nights 1 - 7 September 2010.
It is a great apartment - "luxurious" , spotlessly clean, very comfortable.
I dealt directly with staff from Pillow Apartments and always had a quick reply before booking and also after the reservation was made.
During the course of my booking the apartment I phoned the office a couple of times and thaey were really helpful.
We arrived to the apartment on a Sunday morning straight off a 24hr flight from Sydney and check in responsibl met us promptly at 10am (which was the agreed time) and was kind, professional and helpful.
I would recommend them as an agency and also recommend the 'Barceloneta terrace' apartment forthos who like being in Barcelona with a sea view.

“We were two couples renting the Borne Picasso...”

We were two couples renting the Borne Picasso Apartment for the first week in May. The apartment was worth every penny. It was clean, spacious and very centrally located. I would recommend highly if you want to be near to all the central tourist spots. Kitchen was well stocked and we made great use of the pots and pans as we were generally disappointed by the food. Used Ramblas market and the local spar. We were generally exhausted by our sightseeing during the day and it was lovely to sit at the big dining table with the door and window open and eat and listen to the sound of Barcelona. Pillow apartments were no problem, they answered promptly any questions and emails we sent prior to the visit and the handover was quick and easy.

for 5 nights in June 2010. It was spacious, clean, well located near the beach, and quiet. These were my top priorities. The keyholder met us as agreed...no problem. It did have DSL internet connection and DVD player as described. closets were spacious and clean. No problems whatsoever, reccomended

We arrived in Barcelona on a Saturday morning. Our PillowApartments contact that morning apparently did not know about the arrangements we made for early arrival, so our first impression was less than favorable. The owners were very kind in letting us in the apartment early. (The PillowApartments agent who came by in the afternoon with the paperwork also was not aware of early arrival; he was upset with US!)

The apartment was not as advertised on the web. There was no "walk-in wardrobe" as advertised. In fact, there was no place to store shirts, underwear, etc. The only place to hang up clothes was two primitive clothes racks on wheels. We were unable to enjoy the advertised view from "the balcony overlooking the colourful Ramblas." The entire front of the building was encased in scaffolding and netting. It was not apparent that "the apartment has been just fully decorated by his owner." The living room was well furnished and comfortable, but the rest of the apartment was in need of upkeep: One kitchen cabinet was off its hinges. There was a vague unpleasant smell in the kitchen (my wife refused to prepare meals). Several tiles were broken or missing in one bathroom. The bidet hot water faucet in other bathroom did not work and the shower/bath lever there would not switch water to the shower. Several moldings in one bath and one bedroom were in bad shape. The beds were a major problem for us. The bed frames were directly on the floor, with very thin mattresses. I guess they were intended to be Japanese design with futons, but in this case form won over function. My wife has a tricky back and had difficulty and considerable pain getting up from the floor.

PillowApartments's response to these comments: "For the internal issue you had we will ask the owner to fix them right away."

PillowApartments requires cash in Euros for rental balance. I was reluctant to carry a large amount of cash on arrival. Fortunately, PayPal was like cash.

In spite of these difficulties we enjoyed our stay in Barcelona - it is an incredible city.
