Good Points: Small, the only GSM at the time

Bad Points: Poor reception, not user friendly, collects dust, ugly, hate the buttons!!!

General comments: Like many, I bought this Motorola T193 mobile phone when it first came out, as it was a very affordable web-enabled GSM phone. It really sucks! Sometimes I call my husband's T193, and it won't ring on his end, even though it's on! The web feature takes forever to load, and there are countless flaws in the predictive text, phone book, etc...This phone is so bad, my carrier is letting us out of our existing contract early, and supplying us with new Sony Ericssons.

This is now my 6th Motorola T193 phone I've received through T-Mobile. I had to return 4, due to the battery life lasting only a few calls and total standby time of less than 16 hours...Also, the 5th phone was due to the internal charging point being broken. I love the size, shape, features, and simplicity of the phone, but it is a horrible phone with regards to the battery life. Finally, the reception is below average as well....if you compare the signal strength in this phone with any other T ...

I agree with all the other reviews. For me, the worst thing about the Motorola T193 mobile phone is the usability. It takes 7 steps to call someone in my phonebook. When you finally get to the name of the person you want to call, the first option you see is not "call number" but it's "switch view." Does that make any sense? The volume control is constantly activated by accident. Dust is collecting under my screen, too.

I used to have a cheap Nokia which was big, but so easy to use. I c ...

Where should I start! The battery life is totally short. Sometimes for no reason it hangs up on calls even when there is PLENTY of signal. While I am talking on it, sometimes it rings at the loudest setting right inside my ear for no reason. I bought this phone right when it came out, and it was quickly discontinued. I have had mine replaced 3 times, and Cingular wont replace mine with a comparable model. Yes, it has some nice little features, BUT the way this phone acts sometimes makes y ...

This phone is horrible. I never have reception anywhere and even when I am outside I don't have recption. After one or two calls the battery power says low battery. I had to go to the store two times to exchange it and it is still giving problems.

Overall, a very good phone. Strong, durable construction is a plus. My girlfriend's T193 fell out of my car once and it still worked perfectly fine. It gets fussy about the SIM card sometimes, but quick fix: just remove SIM card, make sure it is clean, and reinstall. THe bright screen is also easy to read. I've had mine for a year and it's been a work-horse. The only thing I don't like is the lack of features, but the phone is tri-band and it gets good reception.

I will be getting a new phone after a year of using my T193. Actually, it will be my 4th phone. I had to return my first 2 T193s when I had a problem where my phone wouldn't turn back on after charging in off mode. My current T193 is now having problems with the #1 button and the jack for my headset doesn't work anymore.
T-modile has said they have quit offering the T193 model because of so many problems, however, I saw it listed on a couple of sites (which are probably just trying to get ...

I made the mistake of buying this phone right when it came out. It was recalled soon after for a battery problem and the whole phone was replaced. Upgrading from a nokia 8260 was a big mistake. Going from an award winning interface of a nokia, to a very frustrating, poorly designed motorola made me lose faith in all motorola products.
After the 1st year, the battery had less than 4 hours standby!! I feel sorry for those who signed up for 2 year contracts, the NiMh battery costs more than the ...

This phone is horrible - little battery life, cuts off in the middle of phone calls even when battery is "Full", lousy reception - we have exchanged this stupid phone 3 TIMES! T-mobile will not exchange for anything different, even if we paid the difference - they stink too!

This phone is a mistake. The battery life is nowhere near what manufacturer promises. I have exchanged this phone TWICE because of reception and battery issues, and the phone still stinks!!!
I have writen to Motorola on several occasions asking why they would promise features this phone can not dream of delivering, and have receieved no response.

I wish i had not made the mistake of getting the phone JUST to make money (through rebates). I should have stuck with a real cell phone maker, NOKIA!!!
just another big mistake i guess....
