Constantly freezes with no cure or help from the makers. How they get off with producing this junk is beyond me. Is there no consumer protection from these garbage manufacturers ?. Avoid at all costs, complete rubbish (read more)

Positives ; easy to set up - easy to set recordings. Negatives ; no HD, does not reset screen TV to correct aspect for programmes recorded in other than widescreen ; limited control options. (read more)

I bought the Humax PVR9300T (500GB version) after reading a cross section of reviews. It seems the noisy fan has been fixed with an over the air software update and these are automatically included in the latest shipped models resulting in a very quiet new machine. Sure, it still suffers from a few small niggles like the EPG menu only having a 2 hour visual overview and recordings sometimes being clipped in the first and last minute but this can often efffect other machines as this can... I had a simple cheap PVR which became unreliable after a couple of years so after reading some encouraging reviews I purchased the PVR-9300T. It fell at the first hurdle. It took over three hours to populate the program guide and then for only about 5-6 days, not the eight quoted in the manual. I thought, however, that once it had loaded it would stay that way, but sadly no. If you leave this device on standby, or switch it off, it completely wipes the program guide and you have to spend... An awful bit of kit. My wife has the big hump with me because I set this this piece of rubbish to record the new series of Lewis. She asked me just now to check that it had done so and it has no recorded programmes in its memory after March 2012! I was also recording the Channel 4 series Homeland and it only recorded 10 out of the 12 episodes, rendering it unwatchable. It frequently freezes, items on the menu disappear and reappear at various times and the EPG takes hours to populate if the... (read more)

Bought from Amazon. Followed set up instructions to the book. Got absolutely nothing except to lose all my TV channels. No response from any of the buttons when pushed. On the unit and the remote. This will be going back for a refund. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. IT IS A TOTAL LOAD OF RUBBISH. (read more)

Despite Humax fixing the infuriating freezing problem with the 9300T pvr, this is still an unsatisfactory piece of kit (and we're on our second machine: the first failed soon after purchase). The programme guide takes an eternity to load; if you set the machine to switch on / off at set times, it can lock up if you switch it on / off at other times then restarting it wipes the recording schedule, and the 'recording' display readability is hopeless unless you are a few inches away. It is also,... (read more)

Humax 9300t
This is the worst thing I have ever bought. it was to replace a 5 year old PVR that could not cope with freeview upgrade, but NEVER EVER had any other problem.
It says queens award for industry on the package, from my experience thats just for the cardboard box!!!!!!!!!!!!
1. Fails to record at least 12 times, no conflict, no reason.**
a. Records the wrong length for programs by anything over an hour.
b. Misses start of programs.
c. Misses ends of progs.
2. EPG will...

Two points that ought to be looked at with the humax pvr -- the fact that it takes so long to populate the recordings listings - no chance of recording very much inside 10 minutes and then only coming up programmes.Next few days programme settings need a few hours notice
Also the need to get close up to see any sign of recording activity
Otherwise a super piece of electronics

A very disappointing purchase, despite high recommendations elsewhere. The machine continually froze and needed resetting; ignored scheduled recordings; regularly failed to even provide an EPG; and it cut off recordings before they had finished. Unreliable product. It's been sent back for a refund. I wouldn't buy another. (read more)

Humax seems incapable of supporting its products. Since the digital switchover, all three of the Humax PVRS owned by my family have been appalling and the firm has not responded either to direct emails or to the avalanche of online stories about similar failure. Steer clear! (read more)

A great recorder if only it didn't keep freezing up. Recorded programmes constantly stop before they are finished. Recording whilst away is useless as it will have frozen up at sometime and the programmes are not then recorded.Humax website keeps saying that a software download is available to overcome this problem, but it never appears. Contact with the company is impossible. Don't want to return it to the supplier as there are a lot of programmes recorded on the hard drive. Very... (read more)

We have had 4 Humax Freeview Recorders now and every one has had the same problems, despite their being various models. Be warned if you decide to buy one, the odds are very high that you will have to take it back. Some of the problems we have encountered are frequent freezing, not recording when progammed to, loss of display, and complete signal loss. The problems seemed to escalate after the retune in Sept too. Its a shame because if it worked it would be an excellent product. All its... (read more)

The Humax 9300 has had great storage space so old films can be retained without worrying about how much storage time is left. It is reasonably simple to use and has 2 scart socket and a HDMI input. generally it bis hassle free although occasionally it loses the series link without warning. The greatest drawback it is only has an 8 day memory which is insufficient when going on 2 weeks holiday. Also it means if a weekly series is not on one week due to a football match or special event then... (read more)

Good PVR let down by the box constantly 'freezing' 2-3 times a week. Eventually Humax sent a replacement, however this was an older refurbished unit which was dirty, scratched and had exactly the same fault. Tried for over a week to speak to a manager at Humax but no-one ever phoned me back. Eventually had to return the PVR to the retailer I purchased it from and they refunded my money. (read more)

Well-built, solid feel. Easy to use, easy to set up. Menu system is quite intuitive once you have found your way around. No noise when either in standby or live mode. Low power consumption when in standby.
2 year warranty.
Upgrading from an appalling Thomson machine, the Humax feels altogether more chunky and well-made. Early days, but it seems unobtrusively reliable at the moment. Interestingly, there is absolutely NO fan noise at all - a huge improvement over the Thomson machine,...

I found this review very helpful because.it confirms my view that I ought to ask for my money back.I bought mine just before Christmas so that I could catch up on a few programs when I returned home. Ihad been delighted with my first recordings and had built up a small library of classics by Alan Bennet among others., and the day to day operation had been fine. However, I have now found that whenever I leave it to work for me over a few days or longer I return to the freeze-ups or incomplete recordings etc reported in this and similarreviews I have found online..
