I have purchased two MY X6-2 mobile telephones and the first one would not charge properly and the second the key 7-pqrs and 8tuv plus the space bar do not work. I have no address therefore I am unable to return them to Sagem. I purchased these without insurance through Utility Warehouse. I have now bought another phone. I do therefore not recommend the Sagem MYX-5 as I have not bought another mobile phone. (read more)

The Sagem MY X-5 mobile phone has been a very reliable and easy to use handset for the year and a half that I have had it. It also comes in at a good price if you hunt around for the right deal.
It has a number of features, including a very good and easy to use WAP browser, a superb menu layout (beating Nokia, once you have got used to it), vibrate alert, caluculator, currency converter, automatic network selection for when you go abroad (so you do not have to manually fiddle with the...

I have had my Sagem MY X-5 since March now and think it is a very good little mobile phone. It has some good ringtones and games. The good thing about is that there are many websites that you can download free polyphonic ringtones, wallpapers and screensavers for. But you do need to get a data link cable first which are about £20 from www.sagem.com. I was happy with my phone, but got bored with the wallpapers and ringtones, so I purchased a cable and made my own website for all other sagem... (read more)

The Sagem MY X-5 is a cool looking mobile phone but i cant find any changeable covers.
This phone is ok. I still would say that nokia is better by far. As everything is set up for nokia and based on the web. Over all the fone is allrite but could be doing with a little extra features. Such as in the text messages you should be able to see when you exceed the 1 message limit instead of having to guess.
Ringtones should be more accessable like nokia.

It's really easy to use and the speaker phone facility you get by pressing the call key twice is incredibly handy. It's small, light, lasts ages and has 40 polyphonic ringtones. You can vary the volumes easily mid call to suit you and there's lots of space to store texts (100 I think, compared to Nokia's 15). The WAP is a bit scary, but generally easy to use.
It's very easy to dial by accident (I recently did while the phone was in my bag and it cost me £2!). It does have a lock facility to...

I got this Sagem MY X-5 phone purely after looking at the features. With hindsight, I wouldn't of, it is very unreliable in terms of battery life, I have had several batteries, and two replacement phones. Nothing makes a difference and I have resigned myself to having to charge it every evening (I'm in a low signal area, so that may have something to do with it)
Despite having the phone a year, I haven't found any of the interchangeable covers I've heard about, the data cable I got was...

You cant find any thing for it and even if you do if you are with virgin you can't get them anyway, you have to call up because the whole virgin network is messed up(it wont let you text for ringtones or anything) you can't download polyphonic ringtones I would recommend a nokia because that is what everything is made for (read more)

The phone has a nice layout and after a little playing around you can breeze through the functions. The sound quality is very good the ear piece sounds crisp and clear. It has changeable covers so if you fancy dressing it up let yourself go. Now to the little flaws..It's rather slow to charge from empty about 2-3 hours so loads of time to cut the lawn...also when you turn the phone on the battery meter is a little slow to give you a true reading..but it gets there after about 3 or 4 mins.It's... The features & ease of use are easily on par with, if not better, than many other phones in this price bracket, but the cheap feel of this phone could dissuade potential buyers.

Well what can I say, Sagem have really knocked the spots off Nokia with this little stunner! For starters I wanted a phone that looks good, and this one sure lives up to that, I've got a matt black clip on cover on it and it looks just suave! It looks nice, but you can't speed dial any numbers, you have to go into the phone book. When you have a missed call, it just says "1 call" in tiny writing at the bottom of the screen (easily overlooked. There is no icon or prominent on screen message, and if you have it in power saving mode, turning the phone on to illuminate the screen obscures this 1 call message with the word "menu." If you press the green button to go into the call records, it doesn't distinguish between missed calls... (read more)

You can in fact go straight to the message you have received, you don't have to go through the menu. And i never have a problem seeing that i have missed a call. Well done to SAGEM.
Written on: 16/03/2003
You're quite right, i was a bit hasty. You can go straight to the massage. Is there anyway you can get a normal alert for messages (without downloading), like on other phones? I can only choose from the normal ringtones you have for calls, and when you get a message it does several rings and i just want a beep. And in the call records, the icons don't distinguish between missed and received calls, which is a pain. And the ring volume is fairly low, even at maximum.
Written on: 19/03/2003
In the calls menu you can easily see what are recieved and what are the outgoing calls! At the top left hand corner there is an icon of a phone and an arrow. If the arrow is pointing to the phone then it is a recieved call and if it's pointing away then it is an outgoing call.
<br>
<br>Simple!!

I received this phone as a gift in Hong Kong and I really do enjoy using this phone, besides the common varieties offered by the larger companies. I have searched everywhere to this question and the Sagem website does not list it. The question is if this myX-5 support dual band modes. I am currently using it in Canada and there is a mobile phone company that does support 800/1800/1900 frequencies.

<br>I know for a fact that Hong Kong uses 800 & 1800 so there is a compatability between the two cities. I have looked through the menus of the phone but I cannot find the option to choose which frequency to use. Am I missing something or does this phone NOT support other operating frequencies? What frequency does this phone run on anyways? It was never listed on the Sagem website at all.

Or does anyone else suffer, horrible ear pain from these phones?
Granted, it has the 'loud speaker' .Which I have resorted to. just to get the thing as far from my head as possible. But generally, I fear there is something unregulated about the amount of radiation these things put out.
Please can we have a rating for pain put on this site?

You said that you suffered ear pain because of this phone. I think you should see a doctor, because you might have a disease. The phone is not the cause of your ear pain. The speaker has a volume setting that you can adjust by pressing the left or right button just below the display (if is to loud you can press the left button) while you talk. The level of radiation at maximum power is 0,64 W/kg while the maximum limit admited by the Council of Europe is 2 W/kg.

This is not a review, but is a list of places where you can find ringtones, wallpapers & screensavers etc for your SAGEM MY-X5 and MY-G5.
More and more SAGEM users are actually starting to create their OWN websites specifically for these phones (MY-G5 and MY-X5). You will find things such as polyphonic ringtones, musical ringtones, wallpapers, sceensavers etc. and more and more files will be added to these sites in next to no time!
Remember that you first need to buy a DATA CABLE (£12) and download some free UPLOADING SOFTWARE in order to start uploading ringtones & wallpapers etc to your phone.
Get the sagem my-X5 data cable for £12 directly from the sagem online shop, it's the same one that is used for the sagem my-G5 too. it works the same for both models:
http://www.sagem-online.com
(allow about 10-14 days for it to be deilvered to your house, and delivery is free.)
Then you need to download the free Sagem My Pictures and Sounds uploading software from here:
http://www.sagemonline.com/EN/faq/gsm/faq_gsm.htm
And once you have both of these items, you are now ready to start getting some free ringtones/wallpapers for your my-G5!
GO TO THESE DOWNLOAD SITES:
http://www.mysagem.co.uk/
(SpunkyMunky's website, very good)
http://uk.geocities.com/polysagem/index.html
(A good site, with good downloads. More Midis than anything else.)
http://uk.groups.yahoo.com/group/mysagem/
(A valuable source of info, and downloads for the Sagem MYX-5)
http://uk.groups.yahoo.com/group/nik99net/
(Another good Sagem MYX-5 and MYG-5 group)
http://sagem-myx5.chez.tiscali.fr/
(A French site with a good choice of stuff to download)
http://www.cjtonline.net/sagem/
(Seej's Sagem my-X5 and my-G5 website)
http://members.lycos.co.uk/sagemx5/
(Another sagem user's website, he has just started it)
http://www.ewtoo.org/~matt/sagem/
(There's Some nice stuff here too)
http://www.planetsagem.com
(A site created by sagem for sagem users, but it has very poor quality design and content in all honesty, best to avoid this website until they improve imo. i just put the link here so you know what/where it is)
Have fun!!!
BY THE WAY, THE SAGEM MY-G5 ROCKS! FINALLY, A STYLISH HANDSET SPECIFICALLY DESIGNED FOR MOBILE GAMING!!
Cheers guys ;)

I got mine free with Orange too, which is pretty remarkable when you have a butchers at the Sagem website - it's listed for something like £360 there! Think you're being a bit harsh with your review though. There is a normalish ring tone you can select. I know what you mean about the dogs and fog horn though - it can make you look pretty stupid in public! I downloaded Pearl and Dean to it via a data cable (the actual soundtrack, not some plinky plonky nonsense), which has earned some respect in the office, although it's still a mite embarassing when you're in the barber's. Battery life isn't great though. Orange quotes 10 days standby time - it's more like 6.

Since gaining this Sagem MY X-5 phone on Monday (29th Dec 02) i have found this phone very easy to use. I had it for £139.99 on Virgin Mobile with £35 free airtime. The colour screen on it is very good although not as good as higher priced coloured screen phones. This can be expected though although the screen is fully coloured.

To all people who are looking for a place to download sagem my-x5 logos, wallpapers and ringtones. go to
www.uk.groups.yahoo.com/group/nik99net/
you have to have a Yahoo ID but this is very easy to get and once you are logged in you will find a great selection of ringtones, wallpapers and other cool stuff.
i have found this site very useful.
PS you must have a data cable to download free sagem my x5 logos and wallpapers otherwise you will have to pay around 3 pounds to get one from one of those horrible places like monkey mob or monster mob etc. You will also have to download sagem my pictures and logos at www.sagem.com or Plug In Out, a great feature that lets you choose any bmp or gif or whatever picture as an image, make it fit on the screen of the phone, and then send it to your sagem My-X5 via the data cable (look on ebay for a cheap one)

I think the coloured screen is brilliant and is a nice and small shape. My signal is fine and miles better than any previous phone. Only problem where can you get tones sent to your phone. (read more)

To download ringtones simply ask jeeves, "where can i find ringtones for the sagem myx-5" and click on the question appropriate, they cost about 3 quid but its worth it ; )

I hear people moaning about the reception, but with me, it's fine and much better than my last phone (Nokia 3510). The thing that attracted me to this phone was probably the colour screen and the fact that it looks good too. The colour screen is good, although it isn't quite as colourful as others I have seen. This phone has tried to live up to to the Ericsson T68, it's very similar. The keypad is... (read more)
