When you have worked for a living since age of 14, put into National Stamp & Tax and you get penalized through owning your own home & not a taker. Seriously let me down with financial non-help. If I was an important id get every help under the sun same with being a druggie etc etc.

“Would run better managed by monkeys”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Hamster419 on 02/03/2023

As an organisation supposedly there to serve the public, and help people back into employment, from my experience I couldn't say the truth is any more the opposite. I have on numerous ocassions dealt with staff members that appear extremely under qualified for the roles they are in. The total lack of respect shown, and the way you are spoken to by these people, is shocking to say the least. Half of the raff that work in these places don't seem to understand the meaning of organisation. As a claimant, you are expected to turn up for an appointment on time, however it is perfectly acceptable for them to keep you waiting around for 20+ minutes. It's the wonder half of these places havn't been closed down, given the people that run them.

“Pathetic. Everyone. Epsom”

written by Livia310 on 19/01/2023

Was only on it because I struggled to find employment but now I’ve learnt how to get into interviews well and don’t need them. They try and be condescending but their overall intellect lets them down. End up running hoops around some fat old depressed power hungry office workers for 10 mins then go home. You can tell they are used to getting away with their rude underhand remarks with people who are vulnerable. They have it confused when they meet someone who’s just as/more mentally capable than them. Embarrassing. If I was like them at their age.. I’d genuinely consider topping myself. Ugly, stupid, bitter, power hungry, actually hungry 247 by the looks of it. They have a lot to be bitter about to be honest. The only way they can feel good about themselves is to try look down on people they view as below them. That’s who they are. When infact they are the definition of failures. All I needed was some help. But all the wanted to do was try and make themselves feel better at someone elses expense. I’d call them bullies but they are just as incapable of that as they are combing their hair

“Jobcentre plus in Hereford”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Clarissa143 on 11/01/2023

I have been out of work for 8 months now and feel the need to give a review of my findings of Hereford Jobcentre. I have medicated stress and depression and the last place on earth I feel like going is the Jobcentre. I want to get back into employment. First the positive is that the security guards there are always welcoming and polite, as is the person who signs me in. That is where the positives end. It annoys hell out of me, the second I get off the seat, the many cleaners there are straight away there with the cleaning spray in case of the bloody Covid, that we are over the worst of. Let me get off the seat 1st!I am hard of hearing in 1 ear, and have to try to hear the work coach through a screen due to, you guessed it Covid! By this time you can probably guess I am quite annoyed and stressed before I have even spoken. I remember the days where shock horror the job centre actually had job cards in that you would make a not of reference number and get the details from a useful person behind a desk. No longer does that happen, there are no jobs advertised in branch. My work coach does nothing to assist me looking for employment, all she does is read what I have put on my online journal. I can do that myself and oddly enough I know what is in journal as I have written it in there!! She has a job for the sake of having a job and filling in boxes. It is roughly a 1 minute appointment and at the end she says she will see me again in a fortnight to do the same waste of time. They expect me to look 7 hours a day for work and when I explain I have perhaps already applied for a job, or that I have had a negative from that job I get attitude. Heaven forbid I try to explain to her few times that a new job does not come up every day, and I am applying for everything I can. I have found out about 2 programmes from other sources, that the work coach had not heard of initially, she looked into it and 1 programme didnt exist anymore and the other you have to be unemployed for 1 year before you can get put on it! Why didnt she know about these programmes before? On the financial side, I have claimed Universal Credit for 3 months before falling ill, and they are taking bits off my present claim because they messed up and unbeknown overpaid me before. I ask how much is to be paid back and she does not know even though it their system!! I am trying to live on £267 per month which is impossible. I tell them this and they say I have enough to keep my car on road legally. Well I need to keep car on the road to go to job interviews!!!!!!! Its like talking to a brick wall, but thats insulting to the wall. I am not asking for sympathy from her, just a touch of professionalism and understanding that I am not professionally unemployed and want to get back into work.

“Utterly useless & work coach only carrying out a box...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Nico001 on 13/12/2022

The so called 'work coach' was utterly useless. It used to take me 30 minutes to walk from home & a further 10 minutes to get up the stairs to the 4th floor. And of course a further 30 minutes walk home afterwards. All for a so called 'meeting' that lasted 20 to 40 seconds. She only ticked a few boxes so she could keep her useless job. It wasn't just me going through this waste of time. There were people before & after me going through the same half a minute waste of time. I just used to see it as an hours exercise due to the walk to & from home. I had to go because you could tell she was a vicious person & if I missed the weekly appointments she would stop some of my benefits. She was/is a total disgrace to Jobcentre Plus & gives it the worst name possible. There should be a total shake-up of those offices & get people in who actually want to help people. Jobcentre Plus Sutton, in Wallington, Surrey.

Facet road jobcentre Birmingham, a joke I had an appointment their so whent along on my pushbike. I don't have a lock at the moment so I whent in to ask if they had a secure place to leave it. I was instantly approached by 3 security staff who got in my face telling me that they told me before not to bring my bike. I only purchased the bike 2days before. I tried to explain this but I don't think they spoke very good English. Eventually they said as a favour I could put it behind a gate which they would lock. I come out to a open gate with my bike on show. I'm not that guy. very unprofessional. To busy trying to look hard.

“Terrible DWP staff behaviour”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 12/09/2017

I've had to sign on more than twice and each time I have been subjected to rudeness, humiliation and unjustly sanctions. The sanction Centre has become infamous for it's incredibly rude staff. I have seen this first hand. It's absolutely disgusting how they treat people. One time I was asked to send my CV by email to my advisor. I sent it and my advisor (interrogator) even replied saying she received it. The very next week when I was due to sign on, she asked if I sent the CV, I replied with "yes I did". She said she never received it, even though just a few days ago she replied to it saying she got it. She called me a liar whilst being one herself. Another incident that involved me being sanctioned because my interrogator demanded that I both attend a training course and go to another town for an introduction. Also because the sanction centre took more than half my money, I no longer had enough to cover my food expenses. I was asked to work for nothing for a month at Stansted airport, but I explained that I've got nothing to sustain myself while working there. So essentially told me to go without. I will NOT starve myself. Also sometimes the interrogators shout out when talking to you. I've been tempted to return the favour a few times, I certainly will next time. The way the sanction centre (formally jobcentre) behaves is absolutely disgusting.

“If you want to destroy your health go to Jobcentre”

★☆☆☆☆

written by 254Grant on 05/06/2017

Some staff are really rude and what's worse they seem to especially enjoy causing mental agony and pain to disabled clients. For physical disabilities adaptations (other than wheelchair access) are refused. I also suffer from depression and just a small phone conversation with my adviser leaves me in tears feeling like I want to kill myself. Ingeus, for example, that provide work program service does not have this affect. On the contrary Ingeus are professional. My adviser at Jobcentre Marylebone talks down to me like I am not made of human stuff, I feel like a rat up for extermination. I have a degree and a background in data analytics, I would do anything to get rid of my physical disabilities to get back to work, I would make much more money and I wouldn't have to put up with this bullying by exceptionally evil Marylebone Jobcentre staff. My health has greatly deteriorated because of the Jobcentre. Here advisers personally choose to cause or provoke mental distress. No empathy at all. Horrible

“Call this number”

★☆☆☆☆

written by DejaBauer373 on 14/04/2017

Replace the advisors and put a sign saying (call this number) because that's the only answer I get. if you don't have an appointment all the staff becomes useless and that's all they can say even though they sit around chatting. They are obsolete.

“Worst call centre ever”

★☆☆☆☆

written by 63Bryant on 27/10/2016

You cant call local numbers any more you have to call the 0345 number. You either wait on hold for ages or you get a voice activated system which isn't helpful at all. It asks things like please say in a few words why you are calling. I say to book an interview room. Response: Are you calling to make a claim? No, ok why are you calling you can say things to like to make a claim. I am calling to book a room. You are calling to look for work is that correct. No! When this eventually fails you get number options to select. When you select these options it just cuts you off. I raised this with the contact centre who were not interested. when you eventually get a number for the local office it either rings for 15 mins without being answered (no answerphones), or someone answers it and says they are busy in the middle of an appointment and to call back later then they quickly hang up on you. This is the worst government service in a long list of bad government services.

“uncaring depressive and obtuse ”

written by Dakota1959 on 22/09/2016

Very reluctantly I had to make a claim for Job seekers. My last experience at the Job Centre had me running to the G P. after a confrontation with a so called Civil Servant. As the government have moved the goal posts for pension age (60) I am living without income. I was effected by the bedroom Tax, amassed rent arrears and now have a bailiff appointment to evict me. If that's enough to stress me. Also forced to claim Job Seeker allowance as advised by my local Council so they can retrieve the C T arrears. I am sitting in front of this advisor explaining all this and after she did all her rules to do with Job Search and what one is expected to do (or has to do) to secure a low paid job. I explain that I have no funds to travel to sign on. Still falls on deaf ears, however I added if the judge sees fit and carry's on the eviction then of course I have more pressing issues. She still went on to add you need to come in a nd sign!

“Stigmatised”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 21/06/2016

Having worked within the hospitality industry at management level for many years since my teens and through university, I found myself unemployed. I had heard some terrible stories about signing on from friends but thought it would be prudent to do until I found a job. The problems started with the application. It took almost six weeks to process me. Supposedly they are meant to back-date your payments. This did not happen. Now for the Job Centre itself. Never have I experienced such a negative, soul crushing environment. The staff can barely contain their contempt for the unfortunates around them. The advisor initially assigned to me was a lovely woman. She knew I wasn't chronic unemployed, was a graduate etc. I never saw her again. I was advised, quite honestly by her, not to give them any excuse to sanction me. It was in my best interest to turn up early for appointments because they are notorious for calling your name out early then sanctioning you for being late or a no-show. She advised me to keep meticulous notes and back everything up with evidence as far as possible. Straight away alarm bells are ringing - this is a member of staff warning me that they will try to sanction me! Now, not to denigrate anyone but there were clearly a lot of people there who were long-term unemployed. I honestly believe that I was targeted as I did not fit into the typical category. They would send emails requesting I go to workshops to help prepare me for work. Firstly, I've been in work for years and only unemployment for a couple of months. Secondly, I've to travel to Partick at the other side of Glasgow via public transport? Lastly, I've heard about these ridiculous workshops where you have to stand up and sing about yourself and do interpretive dance. They are in fact just an excuse for pseudo-teachers and educators, individuals of dubious qualifications and training, to keep a job. They would also demand I come in for consultations outside my standard meeting. These were utterly pointless and were "Just to see how I was getting on..." Absolutely fine, pretty much the same as I was two days ago during my signing on date. More like checking up and inconveniencing me. I didn't have a car, bus fare is ridiculously expensive and it is a fifty minute walk there and back again. There was one hard-faced, sneering blonde woman in particular who made sure I had to explain my existence to. I'm very observant and would spot her looking me over, clearly baffled by my being there. I knew she would be going through my details and evidence with much gusto. And so she did. I overheard a chap say that in other, lets say less well-heeled areas of Glasgow, the advisors are much more sympatthetic and less strict. You would have to be when 90% of the people coming through the doors have never worked a day in their lives. Can you imagine asking them to fill out detailed job search criteria when they are barely literate? Then there was the security. A short, grey haired, bespectacled man and a foul individual he was. Strutting around with unjustified game-cock self-importance, he would cast his disdainful eye upon all and sundry. Strolling behind desks where consultations were being conducted, picking up and reading confidential materials. Lets be honest, at that level security like taxi drivers and public transport workers attracts a certain type and he certainly fit the description. It is little wonder the establishment needs security the way they treat people. I'm not saying I'm a man of the people, far from it but it is embarrassing enough having to declare you are out if work and go through the quite frankly very uncomfortable ritual of signing on, without the callous and quite deliberate attempts to sanction the desperate and those genuinely trying to find work. Job Centre - shame on you!

“Don't bother ringing Job Centre Plus!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 24/04/2016

I rang Job Centre Plus regarding my employment and support allowance and I waited.............and I waited..............and I waited.............and I waited............and I waited................then I decided to pull the plug and terminated the call after waiting for 30 minutes,so as to reduce my excessive phone bill, with my query unanswered. This department is obviously not fit for purpose and the only thing it appears to be efficient at,is causing extremely excessive phone charges to people, who can least afford them, particularly when no service, whatsoever, can be accessed in an acceptable and reasonable waiting time.If it wasn't so serious,it would be an absolute joke!

The most terrible public service UK has to offer to citizens. Employees full of apathy and indifference towards people in need of finding a job. Telephones are never picked up even if you try daily for weeks. I wonder why the state gives taxpayers' money to the most lazy people to work there. Waste of money and time.

“Mansfield, Nottinghamshire job centre is a joke”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 14/11/2015

The job centre in Mansfield does not help me at all finding work every meeting I have with them instead of perhaps doing constructive job searching with me all they do is try to palm me off to different companies with letters threatening that if I don't do this or that I will get sanctioned and lose my benefits. That is all they are good for really as for ever helping me finding work they fail ridiculously. The way they treat you with these threats makes you feel like you are being punished for being out of work and finding it hard to find one. I hope one day they have to suffer being out of work and having to rely on 70 something pound a week to live on and suffer the same threats me and others have to suffer.

“Oh~ The inhumanity!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by ZenderRailen on 30/10/2015

As in the title, the job center is exactly that. Inhuman. The most difficult thing infact is that... their frontline IS human by comparison. What this means is fairly simple, in countless situations the frontline have to deal with the frustrations and complaints of the individuals that are bieng wronged every day, and of course those who have been geniunely sanctioned. Unfortunately, i'd like to say the ones bieng wronged are uncommon, but as the reviews have proven here, that isnt purely not the case. Amongst my first expereances, was the absolute lack of guidence. The amount of times i got sanctioned because of following what one individual has said, and then suddenly it wasnt enough, was too much. And thanks to this i couldnt exactly fight it. Well, what follows is a story of how to deal with them if you're in the right. Before my victory, there was one last straw. I phoned in to re-arrange a simple sign in date thanks to an injury i had sustained on my achiles tendon. The individual i talked to on the phone was more than happy to oblige, but little did i know. I had done "wrong" When i turned up to the re-arranged pointment of just literally 2 days later, giving me a chance to arrange transport. I discovered that i had to give a statement as to why i failed to attend. You know, ignoring the fact i pre-emptively explained my case. While i mentioned i had a "gash on my achiles tendon" i spotted that she worded it a little... differently. "i had a sore foot." Yeah that'll go down well, naturally i was sanctioned and an appeal had no effect, tbh, no matter how you word your appeal, its not going to work out. As you'll find in my second story. Following this i was given a work placement, mandatory, but i didnt care since it was actually something helpful to me and what i wanted to do, it was actually a really rare case. Most of the time you get stuck in charity shops and the like. well, two days after i attended and passed my interview with this work placement, ANOTHER arrived in the post. This one didnt involve an interview, it didnt involve any communicatin, i just literally had to be there at Ye time following a scrict time table. So naturally i gave them a call, and it was sorted relatively quickly.... Or so i thought, two weeks later after starting and enjoying my new workplacement, i recieved a letter, a sanction. A lengthy one at that. So promptly i phoned in a rage, i dont rage like most people. I actually start to fling big words around more often than not despite my modest use of language most of the time, as you can see during this im fairly angry as i write this since i hate the job center, though not as angry as i was this day. Especially after the call. My first comment was(keeping it brief to keep this essay smaller for you readers), you guys have made a mistake im calling to amend it. I began the game of pass the complainer with the job center, many of you know what this is like. Well, i dont think you all realize where it ends. I was stuborn, more stuborn than you could imagine, i didnt let it go, and eventually they told me. If you can wait a few hours we'll have an "expert" phone you. ...an expert. When that time finally came, she pretty much told me the same song and dance. Appeal. i told her, i will be doing naturally, but i shouldnt have to, this is your mistake. Amend it. Now at first, my phone had bugged out, and i couldnt hear her very well, i eventually managed to find a way to place my ear against the speaker and hear her perfectly. but well. Every time i was mid sentance, she would interupt me, saying the same stuff over and over. Eventually she hung up on me. I phoned her back right away to her surprise, and told her outright. That was extremly rude. Im trying to solve YOUR error. Ultimately, she grew more and more annoyed. (professionalism!) And i simply said. If you cant help solve the problem i would like to speak to someone who can. Promptly she said. The prime minister. I laughed and hung up. Following this event, i appealed, of course it was denied, appearantly i can clone myself. Naturally, with that mantra, i did something a little more... extreme. You see, my cousin knows his law, and i knew a fair amount by extention. You can actually request information regarding your case. So i did just that. I sent in a letter of request for evidence asking for them to provide the information that they had used to determine my sanction. oh and dont you worry, i got the line about cloning myself in this letter, damn straight i did. I completely skipped the whole appeal tribunal process that serves to utterly scare you out of going further. And asked for the evidence myself, i was literally prepared to go through EVERYTHING, and do the decision makers job for them. Because they sure as hell dont. I just commented on a poor guy who's had issues bieng paid, while his youngen was forced to ration. Its absolutely freaking insane how inhuman these people are. they see us as numbers, statistics, ever wondered why the noose seems particularly tight towards christmas? to boost unemployment numbers. My most recent case, prompting this review. is something silly really, but it perfectly highlights the inhuman nature of the job center. I was given an appointment within a weeks time, instead of the usual 2 weeks. This caught me off guard, and i was open and honest about it. Yet im almost certainly going to be sanctioned as a result. Im bieng sanctioned over a hiccup? i mean.. is that TRULY a good reason to stop a persons INCOME?! Im lucky i dont rely on this nonsense, but for those who do? fathers, mothers, the disabled? My friend has a very weak constitution, and its only serving to get worse. Was in a car crash, prompting to extreme anxiaty. He was ESA? i think, the sick one. And it was eventually stopped, just... suddenly, he now has to sign on despite an overwhelming amount of conditions, its just disgusting. And my stories are weak compared to some. Many people suffer at the hands of the need to rely on this money, suffering because of idiotic reasons. Forced hoops of fire to jump through with absolutely no choice at all. Forced to work for small time shops without pay, working for scraps. People who must rely on this money, they are one thing. You are one thing. Its a horrible thought, its something that shouldnt exist in society today. Society doesnt exist today, what it stood for, what it was built for, is all completely destroyed by these idiotic decisions. What you are. Is a slave. If at all possible, do not ever rely on the money they provide. Always ensure you have the choice to tell them where to go. Families need to help each other, friends need to help each other, help people survive, help people feed one another. The entire planet has the resources to supply for more than tripple the current population, if it was simply SHARED and SUPPLIED. A single country, thats filled with the rich, billionaires and more, its disgusting that they dont. But we have to survive. Remmember that kindness, compassion, and the bravery to tell people like the job center to go screw yourself if they push you into slavery. It's thought of as the norm, so it isnt really in perspective. Its almost an accidental form of brain washing. The people suffering at their hands may or may not have even realised it. 1 star, terrible. That rating is too god for the likes of the job center. Those within this institution have organised it so that you cannot amend a simple mistake that their own people have made. its statistical, its all to prevent people proving them wrong. All to make that simple task of amending one of their mistakes nearly impossible. Hardship forms completely ignored and forgotton about, leaving countless people unaware of their entitlement. its utterly disgraceful for any HUMAN to act the way they do. Inhuman is innacurate. They are utterly, and completely. Demonic. True evil.
