They charge your amex card for the item on ordereing unlike companies like Amazon that charge your card when the item is shipped. They almost never ship within the three week time frame promised. Their warehouse is always "receiving items from their vendors" you are assured when you call to complain and they tell you that the item will be shipped "any time now" as they are still receiving inventory from the vendor. So you wait a few weeks to get your package through the door, 4 to 6 weeks is normal. You've paid the money all that time ago so it in the Vente Privee account. You clearly order size 7 and a 3.5 arrives. Two weeks later the second half of the order arrives, again you order 7 and a 3.5 arrives....£180 wasted until you manage to send everything back to them. After they registered and bought using the email invite link I sent them > no credit for me because apparently there is no record that my friends used my email link to register. I ordered chairs each with a claimed retail price of over $1,000. At that price and with the aura of quality presented by the site I expected nice chairs. They were awful. I started googling the manufacturer and found out they sold in the $300's at Bath and Body Works. Not my choice for fine furniture. Let me start by saying that I don't work for Vente Privee, and don't know anyone who does. I have placed many orders (over 20) with VP over the past 18 months. I have received all the orders. Yes - it took between 3 to 6 weeks for each order, and in the two cases where I have returned something because it didn't fit I have been able to return it (at my own cost) easily and have been refunded within 14 days. On the 2nd one, one of the items arrived the wrong size - after contacting them about it I sent it back, and was eventually credited for it - though they charged me for shipping (even though it was their fault and they had said they wouldn't). I have just been through 2 orders with them where they have done exactly the same thing - order is claimed to be dispatched to courier but in reality sits somewhere between the UK and France for weeks. The customer service was atrocious and along the same lines of "why are you phoning". It says on their website and on their dispatch emails to wait 5 business days for delivery but they cite 2 weeks in correspondence. It's just totally misleading and amatuerish. Do not deal with this company unless you are willing to wait a long, long, long time.

Ordered goods on 14/11. On the tracking it states delivery by 28/12. This is an internet company with a SIX WEEK lead time on clothes? It's very obvious that anyone who has recently given a decent review of vente privee must work for them. Who cares about 70% off when the merchandise takes 30+ days to arrive IF AT ALL. As another reviewer wrote, AmEx should be ashamed. Placed an order 9 weeks ago (August 31) and was charged immediately. The order did not ship until October 15 (and then by the slowest method available). To my knowledge, conventional e-commerce policy is to charge the customer's credit card at the time of shipment. Maybe if you get the item, but if you really need it, don't bother with them.

I have cancelled one of my orders right after I placed the order. The order was cancelled, but I still got charged on my credit card. Since then I have been calling them for 2 months, and I still can NOT have my money back. It's very very frustrating. I wanted to contact the manager, the manager is always NOT available. If i could give them no stars I would. My package was delivered but it is no where to be found. I contacted them and they basically said it's not their issue to contact UPS. I contacted UPS and they essentially said the same thing. So my package is just missing and I'm out $300 because they don't want to do anything and the shipping service says the same the same thing. The only thing I can say with consistency is they have the world's slowest delivery times. Whilst some of their offers are good, only order if you don't mind seeing the goods 8/10 weeks later. Considering there are other sites like this that deliver in days, I'd leave well alone. (read more)

Why does it take two weeks for them to even think of shipping your order? Sure it says will ship between certain dates when you order, but it takes them two weeks to process your order and then a two week window to receive it? Most companies do not charge your credit card until your order ships to you. I guess this isn't most companies. I think for discounted designer clothes and shoes, I'll stick to Bluefly. I have placed 3 orders with Vente Privee, none satisfactory. But they are consistent! All orders have taken weeks to arrive. OK, their model is to compile a bunch of orders. Make a bulk purchase, and then ship. Why not tell the buyers this up front? In this world of quick, responsive service, it is ridiculous to allow expectations to be so misaligned with execution. Good deals, but bad service offer. I bought a nice swiss quartz watch, and waited close to two weeks to get a defective watch that I really liked. I called to request an exchange since I like the watch model and was inform by rep at Vente they do not offer exchanges, only refunds or reimburse me to get the watch fixed. I have received two more orders I placed. Excellent!!!!! I am so happy. Today I got dishes I ordered. Beautiful. Customer service is wonderful. Every time I called I actually spoke to a person, not machine. Customer service representatives were very helpful and polite. I have placed 4 more orders and I am sure I will order again. :)
