I took out Paymentshield mortgage protection cover 7 years ago but now I need it they are refusing to pay out. I was recently part of a small, failing business and was terminated without pay as there was no money in the company. Paymentshield are now refusing to pay out.

Apparently, according to someone i know who works in the mortgage industry, Paymentshield policies are sold by lots of mortgage lenders as part of their mortgage offer, but they place a "mark up" on the premiums to make a bigger profit.
By buying direct from an agents website (or through a mortgage broker) its possible to get the same cover for a lot less than the lenders charge
