Good Points: Build quality, picture quality, shooting modes

Bad Points: Truly the only bad point that I can think of is that the silver casing doesn't extend all the way round the camera. Battery life could be a bit better too.

General comments: After weeks of personaly searching for a decent digital camera, I was bought the Olympus c300 zoom camera for christmas by a family member. What a treat it was. I had studied photography breifly at art college, so had a slight interest in doing more than just pointing a camera and pressing a button. This camera certainly filled that criteria with it's many adjustable options, including different shooting modes, variable shutter speeds and 3x optical, and 3x digital zoom, and 3megapixel image processing.
The camera can be used as a simple point and shoot device, but will certainly appeal to the more advanced photographer. Quality wise this camera is top notch. Pictures carry amazing detail, through their colour range to the sharpness of the images. Even when using the digital zoom over optical zoom, which is often believed to degrade image quality, it is very difficult to notice any difference at all between the two zoom options.
The c300 isn't the smallest digital camera out there, far from it infact, but just holding it in your hand, you feal you have a very decent camera, worth every penny.
In the reviews I read on this camera, the only bad points that were mentioned was that the flash, which pops up when you slide back the lens cover, can get in the way of where your left hand could be holding the camera. Personaly I think that this is far from a bad point, as there is pleanty of finger space behind the flash enclosure to hold the camera securly in your hand.
Images can be shot in either jpeg or tiff format, each further offering differnt size picture modes. The defualt mode of 1024 by 768, produces huge pictures, perfect for A4 print outs. Quality of the shots has to be seen to be believed. I use the camera alot for shooting pictures in night clubs to add to my clubbing website. Under these often harsh conditions, such as dark scenes, fast moving objects (people), the camera performs brilliantly. Image bluring can occur, as stated in one of the c300 reviews on here, but a quick adjustment of the shutter speed will solve this problem.
The camera offers a host of features, such as slide show, black & white, sepia modes, and other novelty additions. The included Olympus memory card adds further to the camera by supporting landscape shots, and sequence shooting, which can be fun to play with.
I could go on and on about the good points of this camera, but there really are only minor things that are bad points. Such as the back of the camera been in a black/grey plastic, rather than the silver/champeign colour of the front. This is only a cosmetic issue though. Battery life isn't the best ive seen either, but considering the display is very high quality, as is everything else about the camera, it's understandable.
Obviously, I can highly recommend this camera to anyone. If you want a decent camera, with a leading brand name, you'll find this camera well worth the little extra money.

Taking pictures of moving objects or taking pictures while moving will not be very sharp.
