“Reidys - a little hit and miss”

I have bought things from Reidys a few times of the last 4 or 5 years. It's a little hit and miss with them. For items in stock they are generally pretty good, although my last order missed a next day delivery so we'll see when that actually turns up. Usually for in stock items they meet their delivery promise, and the items I have received have been well packaged and in perfect condition - no complaints. The problem comes for items that say something like 'usually available in 3 to 5 days' or similar. These items are not in stock, and rather than say they are not in stock Reidys take your order and then go and order the item themselves from their supplier (I have only recently found this out). As an example I ordered a Tokai guitar from them with a 'usually available in 7 to 10 days' note against it. 4 weeks later and I had heard nothing from Reidys. I called them and I was told that the guitars had just been put on the boat from Japan and would be several more weeks. I cancelled the order and bought a guitar from elsewhere. I think Reidys should say such items are out of stock, or say that they are a special order and to contact them for a delivery time. My advice is if the item has a 'available in x days' type note give them a call before you order to avoid disappointment. I have found the customer service pretty good. I think a 3 star rating is pretty fair. Also, shop around. There are companies offering some great price match deals. My recommendation for a company with excellent customer service is soundslive.co.uk I bought a midi keyboard from them. I saw the keyboard elsewhere for £20 less, and soundslive were offering a price match. Not only did they match the price but they knocked another £20 off, and gave me free delivery! I found the staff there have always been very friendly and helpful.

My experience with Reidys has been a little hit and miss. Small items arrive quickly, good quality, no problems. Guitars are a whole other matter. I have placed orders for 3 guitars from the site. First one, no problem, fast delivery - all's good. The second I waited, and waited, and waited some more for a delivery date. Called them and was told they were expecting a shipment from Japan within a couple of weeks but they did not know if my guitar would be in it! Order cancelled. Third guitar - paid for, website says in stock with a 1 to 2 day delivery, but no delivery date so far after 3 days. Have been told it should be delivered tomorrow, I hope so. Best websites for service i have found - Dolphin Music and DV247.
