“price increase on website”

I was in the middle of booking a holiday to Lanzarote on the website and discovered when I got to the personal details page that the price had increased by £12. I then realised I had put in the wrong date and needed to change the dates and was shocked to find that exactly the same thing happened. I therefore tried another travel company and was pleased to see they do not use the same levels of deceit and kept the same price throughout the booking process. “Thomson ignore contact e mails”

11 nights Jaz Aquamarine Hurghada 19th May 2014 All inclusive. My wife and I had booked double room sea view. At hotel we were told no sea view booked, the rep and manager were helpful but showed us the booking from Thomson admin... no sea view. Original price of holiday was £1252, we were charged £1588. “Long flight with two hours more poor service”

Flight from Newcastle to cancun the 23rd of June boarded the plane it was to be the new Dreamliner it was not this is why we booked it then a crew member told us we had to fly to Manchester first not told this when we booked one hour down then one hour on the runway new crew fuel and food on board this was a ten hour flight but it was twelve hours on the return flight on the 8th of July still not a Dreamliner crew had no drinks of any kind not any tea we had payed for premium seats to get… Read Full Review

“Absolutely ludicrous service and constant lies”

We have booked an ' A la Carte' holiday with Thomson, with convenient flight times and a nice 5* hotel. But the flight out is now with Norwegian Air, so we can't book seats / meals / extra baggage, etc. Thomson Customer Services (hah!) suggested we '...simply book extra baggage at the check-in desk - at £9.00 per Kg! FYI If you pay for extra 5 kg of luggage with Thomson Airways you do not then have to pay for an extra bag.

Your booked allowance can be spread out as much as you wish. OR you can purchase an additional 20kg case for £25.

I also wouldn't say you have to "troop" around gatwick...as the connecting monorail takes 3minutes at the most to get you from north to south.

Your reply (like most I receive from them) seems to totally ignore the important point I was making. Thomson grant you 20KG as your 'standard' allowance, they will then charge you £9.50 for an additional 5KG but, once you've bought it, you are informed that you can only load a suitcase up to 23KG maximum! The other 2KG either gets wasted or, as you say, you can buy another case (that weighs more than 2KG) and then pay extra again for ever more luggage allowance! If you think that is sensible, I would love to hear your reasoning - it sounds like a bit of a trick to me! Thomson state that the baggage handlers can only manage 23KG maximum, but these are the same baggage handlers who also deal with BA flights (maximum 30KG), unless Thomson have their own staff scattered around the world, looking for only Thomson bags and refusing to lift anyone else's...

You also state that it is not exactly having to 'troop' around Gatwick; for a fit person, maybe, however after breaking several bones in my foot this year, waltzing around different terminals is not my idea of fun. Neither is it convenient to have to get from one terminal to the other at the end of a holiday flight - that is why Gatwick provide parking at the respective terminals, due to the 'hassle' factor.

Everything I have encountered with Thomson has shown no sign of customer satisfaction or customer retention, there have been countless incidents where I believed the staff at the call centre have lied (putting me on hold for 10 minutes whilst they phone Norwegian; when I called Norwegian, they categorically denied that they had received a call from Thomson. Funny that, especially when they are charging premium rates for the call. Made me laugh....

Take a look on these pages; my experience appears to be far from a single case, there are PAGES and PAGES of customer complaints about Thomson, about them being the 'read the small print' champions and about terrible customer service. If I could, I would change our holiday to a reputable firm but it would simply cost me too much money, so I'm stuck this time. This time only, though.

“Foreign Currency Exchange Rate Rip off”

Be careful, the exchange rate Thompson publishes on the net is completely different to that offered in the shop. I've been a loyal customer for over thirty years & I'll never buy anything from them ever again. I asked my son to collect my foreign currency which he did, at about 16.00hrs, on bringing it home, it was £75 below what i was expecting, I called in the next morning to be told there's nothing they could do, only buy it back at £140 less than what I paid for it. The reason for this is that instore you are paying an agent admin fee which is deducted from the exchange rate (giving lower rate). Whereas ordering online you cut out the middleman

“Thomson seat selection is a joke”

Thomson seat selection dos not work if you are traveling for more then 2 weeks, we are going to Florida for 28 days. the policy only allows you to select seats 90 day from your return flight The shorter the holiday the sooner you get to select your seat. “Shocking Customer service following complaint”

My girlfriend and I were so looking forward to our first holiday and decided to spend the extra on a "brand leader".We went to Sensatori in Egypt. “Flight booking problems”

We stayed at the Ocean Maya Royale, and have no problems with the resort itself, although we would rate it 4*+, rather than 5*. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the food good. Thomson is the absolute worst. Their customer service is appalling, nothing can ever be done on time. When I went on holiday in spain, the lady in charge of Thomson was never around we kept doing everything ourselves. You would not be able to reach them onetime.
