I made an error on my holiday booking form. Rang Thomson straight away and they made me pay £50 for 15 seconds work to over type a name error! What a rip off. Easyjet has over taken them for customer service. Only Ryanair stands in their way of being the worst airline company. (read more)

Booked flights to Tenerife for the family as a special family holiday in november from Aberdeen. We live in the North of scotland and we are travelling with young children. Today just 8 weeks from departure Thomson cancelled our flights with no warning and moved us to Glasgow with horrendous flight times arriving back in the UK at 02.40. “Thomson not the same anymore. Will never use again.”

Be warned- Once you have booked with Thomson, they then refuse to price match a holiday should you need to amend to a new stay. All very nice before you part with cash. Once you have parted with your cash it's a whole different story. I can honestly say that years ago Thomson were at the forefront of most trusted brands, and holiday companies. We recently returned home from Thomson 2/52 week cruise and stay holiday. We paid extra for premium seats both outbound and inbound. The outbound flight was brilliant, flying in Thomson plane. Thomson charged me £50 to change a name months before the holiday starts. It took them 15 seconds to make the change. They made feel so small for making the error and I am so nervous about the way they will treat me on the actual holiday. I am sick with worry and wish I would never have chosen them. we booked a P&O cruise with Thompson for april 2013. we thought we would book with Thompsons to avoid any problems as they could sort all the booking out for us. Booking went fine we chose port parking for free and was told that was it and that we just needed to pick up tickets nearer the time and enter our travel details on P&o cruise personalsiser. The actual holiday was great. But the Flights both ways were more than disappointing. Firstly whilst I appreciate it is cost saving exercise but a 5.5 hour flight with no entertainment is really boring. Other airlines offer a film- come on thomsons think of the customer. Myself and my husband booked a holiday to majorca, my son and his partner booked the same holiday, then my daughter, son in law and grandson booked the exact same holiday. There was one big difference, my son paid more than us and my daughter and my daughter paid less than both of us for 3 people. Conclusion: If you are planning to hire a car in Cyprus, which I must say is a really fabulous way to discover this beautiful and unspoilt island, then hire you vehicle in the town, NOT with the travel agent (at home or at resort) and NOT through the hotel. In the case of Paphos, within ten minutes walking distance around the harbour/promenade area, you will find an equal number of small family run car rental companies - they're everywhere. DON'T commit to the first one you come to, shop around for the best deal. Remember also, fuel is about the same price as it is here in the UK, so don't hire anything that is bigger and thirstier than you need. In addition, insist that the car is full of fuel and that you will return it likewise, full of fuel. Some companies insist that you pay for a full tank first (which is overcharged). The island is not that big and you'll probably end up returning the car with loads of unused petrol. If that's how they operate - then WALK AWAY - the next hire company will probably do it the way that suits you, rather than lose the deal.

Having decided to go on a cruise the only one which met our requirements was the Thompson Pharohs and promised land as we wished to visit the Pyramids. New Year in Egypt Was Taken over by an Italian group and the entire show was in Italian at the Nubian Village. They sold us drinks and tables for two weeks then on the night an hour before the celebrations started no drinking and no tables. only ever went with thomson once to ibiza, flight was awfull. staff were pig ignorant and meals were vile. hotel was not what they described at all, they told us all inclusive entertainment, 24 hour bar, close to amentities etc... what we got was a hotel with a NON-free bar next door, pools were filthy and bedding was never changed. cleaners tried to steal our money out of our luggage and even ransacked the safe, entertainment was non-existent. complained as soon as we got back 3 times and... To cut a long story short, our holiday was totally mis-sold, the food quality was very poor, the 24hr all inclusive drinks stopped at 11pm and the thomson customer service is terrible. This company is shambles and should not be allowed to sell holidays to people that save up their hard earned money and then just dismiss them when something goes wrong. “Legroom on Boing 757-200 aicraft”

The legroom on this aicraft is appalling.It is so tight that the table is resting against your body when it is lowered from the seat in front.There are far too few seats available with extra legroom and when trying to book these seats for the return journey you can only book within 13 days of that journey.It is only a matter of time before someone sues Thomson for Back and knee injuries sustained by being cramped up for 3/4 hours. On the last day of our holiday my husband was taken ill, we had booked our holiday with Thomson and bought their insurance at the same time. Just returned from Egypt, Sharm el Sheik and would like to congratulate Thomson on another great holiday. Flights, transfers, hotel and the rep were spot on. A bit more leg room wouldn't go amiss however on the plane. Looking forward to our next one. (read more)

“Cruise disappointment”

Have just received feedback from a letter of complaint put into Thomson having had a very disappointing and expensive cruise over Christmas. Disappointments included 'rip off' trips; ridiculous queues; extended time at sea; poor on board organsiation meaning an awful Christmas dinner to name but a few. BEWARE - Thomson advertise trips and take your money for them, but if you have a problem with it Thomson are not liable - the excursion provider is. (Not very easy to seek recompense once... I assume you were on the same cruise as us...thomson Dream in the caribbean...although it doesn't sound like it as we had a wonderful time. We never queued for anything and christmas dinner was lovely. The extended time at sea was only one day so not a real problem and extra entertainment was put on to compensate. As for the trips, we had booked and paid for lots of them and were happy with most of them. We did have to get our money back for 2 of them and this wasn't a problem and was done quickly and easily a few days after returning home.

“Tropical Delights and Caribbean Treasures Platinum Cruise”

We have just returned from holiday cruise,we had excellent service in every department on board ship.On first impressions we thought the decor wasn't as good as the the brochure, when we looked around the ship all the shop windows where dirty and needed cleaning.When I mentioned this to a Thomson rep he said it was because of the winter vomiting virus cleaning materials they used.I think it was because they couldn't get inside them to clean ,windows in other parts were clean. “Blackmailed at check-in”

Note: I am on this review forum as Thomson's themselves cannot be bothered replying to my query even though i directly emailed them twice with this issue. I guess customer service means nothing to them. In the absence of an answer I am left merely 'venting' my angst. Althought we arrive at Manchester airport 2hrs early for check-in, we are told that we cannot sit together (on a 10hr flight to Goa) as there are no remaining seats together. “Flight delay. Worst customer service ever”

Our flight with Thomson was delayed due to a technical issue (said by themselves)for over 10 hours; missing first day of holidays. Lack of information (non of the crew knew what was going on), kept us inside plane for almost two hours waiting and 10 pound voucher for food in Gatwick airport for a 10 hour delay? “The Disappointing Thomason Majesty`s Canaries cruise”

My husband and I travelled on the Thomason Majesty round the Canaries in December. With this ship being the latest of the fleet, we had high expectations and having sailed with other ships in the fleet were able to make comparisons.What a let down! he ship was extremely clean and tidy but the cabins were minute.We had one on deck 9 and if one was standing, the other had to sit down.One cupboard in which there was a set of drawers plus the safe, therefore a very small space for hanging... “Booked 5 Star in Mexico - First Night £35 Hotel Stockport”

Flight to Mexico 13th December 2012 left 24 hours 13 minutes late due to technical fault. During this time we sat on the aircraft for 2 hours before being sent back to the lounge to await a further 4 hours. During this time we received food vouchers to the value of £10. Our overnight accommodation was in a horrendous hotel. I have since checked that the price of this Stockport hotel and they charge £35 for a double room. “Booked a Ski Holiday, the flights were a disaster”

Went with Thomson Ski with my family this Christmas. The resort, hotel and skiing saved the Holiday, the flight with Thomson Ski was a disaster. We took our cases the night before the flight and when we arrived at the resort the cases and all the contents including the Christmas presents were soaked. The transfers from Chambrey to Tignes was advertised as 1.5 hours, we waited for a late flight for 1.5 hpurs and then took 3 hours to get to the resort. On the way back the transfer took 3.5...
