    Good Points: Slim in size
    Tri-Band
    Easy to use

    Bad Points: N/A

General comments: The Motorola Timeport P7389 is a GREAT phone beacuse it works all around the world and it is very small. It is easy to use once you know how to get navigate the menus.

I bought Motorola Timeport P7389 this as a cheap (second hand) mobile phone to use in the US and it did this fine, at the new price this would would have been nippy but at £10 it was sound.

Does not shows the name of the SMS sender when you received a text message but only a number. You have to memorize the number of the sender first and check your phone book enable to recognize who sends you the message. It's only a good thing if you do not have so many contacts on your phone book then it's easy to determine who the sender is. Cannot save the number from received SMS and calls. It's better to have a pen and a paper with you all the time.

The voicenotes on the Motorola Timeport P7389 mobile phone are cool, the design is the best and i can list many others. Can someone tell me how i can del the VoiceNotes from a Motorola V50? Please mail at Serpisor@Sarpe.net

Oh boy. Where do we start with the Motorola Timeport P7389?

The user interface is severely pants. My biggest gripes are:
    * Having to navigate lots of menus to access obvious things like: Switching between vibrate+ring and Missed & recent calls.
    * No distinction on LCD icons of 'vibrate+ring' as opposed to just 'ring'.
    * Battery meter is almost useless. You only get a couple of minutes of call time once the meter has got to the bottom segment. My old Philips Savvy used to go for ages on wha ...

Referring to the Motorola P7389, I agree with the previous reviews - except I wish to point out that the voice recognition system is dreadful; eg it cannot distinguish between "play voicenotes" & " add to sim", "credit" "home" & "garage".

This text refers to the Motorola Timeport P7389. Apparently there is a whole bunch of mobile phones named "Timeport".
The best way to describe Motorola cell phones is "user hostile". I have been using all sorts of cell phones,
starting from Motorola "Alpha", "Flipper", "Elite" then I got to the Timeport. Well - they improve... Slowly.
When the Nokia 2120 had three lines of LCD text and a battery that snaps to place and remains there - Motorola still had a single LED line of text and a battery ...

    The Phone Sucks. I can't believe I got sucked by Motorola's Name. Switching to Nokia 8890 . . . .

One of the most unfriendly phones in the market. No quick access to names and other commonly used functions and no directory management. Motorola should hang their heads in shame. A very bad product that should never have been released. If you have one, ask for your money back.

The Timeport has better reception than most Nokia & Ericsson phones. The battery is good for 3 hours of talking non-stop & it doesn't take long to charge up the battery.
If the Timeport had a more rugged antenna or if they could come up with one that doesn't require an external antenna, that would make the Timeport the perfect cell phone.

This phone is stupid. If you put the key lock on and press any key, it still makes a tone and the lights come on, so... when the phone is in your pocket and they keys are being pressed, the phone lights up and makes a sound, resulting in a battery that is dead by the end of the day.
The voicenotes are one good feature but even that has been messed up by our friends at Motorola. You can record conversations or notes upto three minutes, but you can delete only the whole lot and not individual note ...

just the basic usage is frustrating. Just use the directory:
2 ways to access one with the menu the other one with a "smart button": Examine the Menu access. It takes 2 strokes to get the directory, then it asks you if you want to use the voice to retreive the name, then it does not let the choice you have to use another key (this one is called the smart key!) you press this key then you are at the beginning of the directory, then you have either to key sequentially or to access by the first le ...

Have used Nokia, Ericsson Philips and Bosch, but Motorola always much better, easier to use and less tacky. The Timeports Triband facility makes this the only of its kind on the market, it's modem makes it second only to the Cardphone. An excellent phone, easy to use, small without being ridiculous, light weight....

I am frankly gutted at the step back this supposed quasi- next-gen phone is supposed to make. Motorola be ashamed. I'm looking for an opportunity to lose/break this phone and have contemplated walking thru bad neighbourhoods to get mugged so I can guiltlessly replace with another brand.

I bought this phone as it was (and still is) the only tri-band phone available.
This is the only reason it is selling, the user interface is the worst I have ever come across.
Even finding out a missed call is 4 levels deep in the menus, no SMS address book lookup, annoying keylock.
The screen on my phone has scratched to the extent where I can no longer read it and most people I know with this phone have problems with the text rubbing off the buttons.
The sooner someone else does a tri-band pho ...

I only chose this phone because I originally bought a Nokia 6150, but then realised that it's software modem only works when it's put through a data cable. I then plumped for this phone, and I haven't been disappointed. I've used Nokias before, and the only advantages they have is a better menu system, and possibly the inclusion of games (which are pretty basic, and are only useful if you don't have anything better to do, which isn't very often IMHO).

Overall very good value for money bearing in mind it includes three GSM bands (for use in North America), personal handsfree, plus a IR modem for use with PDAs & laptops. The software needs consiederable improvement though.

Apart from the call quality, this is the most-frustrating phoen that I have ever used. My first ever mobile was a Motorola and since then I have only ever owned Nokia and Ericsson. This time I have made a mistake. I'll going to get rid and go back to Nokia.

My advice - Only buy one if you only use it for calls and you can remember all your phone numbers.
