jesus christ, I hate this spastic click thing where you click on a folder and that stupid things 'flashes' it around the screen and puts it elsewhere, and you then have to click the stupid thing again....whoever designed that must be braindead

I have had Windows 7 and 8 during beta-testing and since they came on the market. To me they have a lot of great features but also are somewhat bloated and run poorly on low end desktops and laptops since its release to the consumer. I found that many Linux based systems like Zorin, Ubuntu, Kubuntu, Linux Mint, etc. run smoother and there is less need for extra anti-virus or anti-malware programs to protect just the operating system. These extra programs can also run into a lot of money over the years. Also the price of these operating systems, word processing programs etc. is completely ridicules. It would be nice if someone like Microsoft or Apple would be completely honest with the consumer. Of course consumers and technicians like me are getting wiser and aren't afraid to share with others. Also it isn't necessary to jack up the price of a computer when it costs less to build your own these days.

Dear colleagues, if you have been recently deceived by an individual who sold you a pc / laptop with Microsoft Windows and it turned out to be counterfeit, do NOT send to Microsoft piracy centre in Ireland!! I sent EVERY piece of information they asked for on their website. They made me wait an entire month before telling me they require the original key code. This would only be found within the counterfeit version of Windows on the laptop I purchased. Of course after an entire MONTH, one reloads Windows XP on the laptop, as It's useless otherwise ( it was a present for my father, who immediately saw the 'Counterfeit software' messages popping up and freaked out). NOW they want the code, now it's been over-written. Microsoft Piracy REFUSE to send out a replacement version of Windows 7 - I am now out of pocket by £40, plus the time, effort and expense of sending the Windows 7 disk back to them in Ireland. But that's not all! I get an email today stating that if I'd held onto the software, I could have called Microsoft and got a VALID CODE!!!!! I will never purchase your software again. I'll just copy it for free.

It was good but it froze and i had quite a bit of trouble with it. It never did what I wanted it to do and it always opened up windows when i clicked on my page that I was on. I would like it if you would send me a new one because I don't like the one i have its an older version and i am a pro computerist and I think I should have a computer that goes as fast as my mind it so slow and it took me 30 minutes just to write this.

I have been using Windows XP for many years and switched to Windows 7 on 2010 itself. I had no issues while switching to Windows 7 and I loved it as soon as I started using it. It is simply the best. Faster bootup and the new task switching features are fantabulous.

since windows 7 came out loads of people still like it more than any other operating system. Microsoft came out with windows 8 but it was a massive fail compared to windows 7, it even out beats the mistake they called vista. windows 7 at the moment is the best operating system going

do not get a windows 7 computer they are the worst things on the planet, they are a rip off, they lack too many features, they are slow, terrible for storing music, administrators are a stupid idea, they are complicating to use no photo storage, you can not do anything personal on them, the advert said it was good, they were wrong, bad charging, they are big and chunky, i cannot get internet from 5 meters away but i can get it from the whole way around the house with my mac, they take a long time to log on, they break easily, terrible display, terrible on screen design, not much thought put into it, hard to customize, windows 7.5 and 8 are great but windows 7 is poor, no disc drive on my laptop, the opposite of what the advert says, do not buy this software.

Whoever thinks £70 for an operating system is a fair price is bonkers. £70 covers one license for one computer. If you're computer breaks and you need to get a new one, you need to get a new version of Windows 7 at £70 too. And there are so many other things about Windows 7 that are just downright annoying. Here's some: - Windows 7 continuously uses up some of your bandwidth to export usage statistics and other personal information away to their central databases. This is creepy. - When you create a user who you think is an administrator, it is not actually a true administrator like on XP. No, there is a super secret administrator on your computer. I probably sound tin foil hat man by now so I'll write down the steps to unlocking it to prove I'm not. 1. Press start and type in command prompt. 2. Right-click on the command prompt program option and click 'Run as administrator'. 3. Type into command prompt the following, letter for letter: net user administrator /active:yes 4. After seeing a successful message, close command prompt and then log out of Windows. 5. Voila. There is a new user on your accounts page, the true Administrator to your computer. This Administrator has all the rights to your computer that the other Administrator accounts you created should have. - Windows 7 automatically assumes you are thick as pig excrement. Every feature in Windows 7 is designed for a toddler who has no clue about how to use a computer. It becomes beyond frustrating when you have to use Windows 7 for your day job and time and time again, you are treated as toddler by a machine. The UAC (User Account Control) pop up which appears on every program is one of the main irritations here. Saying all that though, the GUI of Windows 7 is fantastic (so long as you use small icons on desktop and taskbar). In my opinion, you are paying £70 for a fantastic GUI and not much else.

Firstly we all know that Apples OS X is a lot better than windows 7 for a lot of things but not everyone can afford it which is why I bought a laptop with Windows 7 64-bit installed. I wasn't expecting to much difference from it's predecessor Windows Vista but the changes were mostly good like the bottom bar which you can pin things onto (I think this was updated from a newer version of Windows vista) but I think that that windows seems to take up more RAM which with a laptop can be quite a pain on some programs. The main programs I had programs with were Adobe and other editing programs because running alongside Windows 7 with 6GB's of RAM I expected quite a good performance but it just wasn't there, freezing every now and then but that may not have had anything to do with Windows 7. Another big thing I think should be improved is the looks of the OS. The windows look is slowly moving on and now with pictures of windows 8 the setup looks different. But I just wish Microsoft would stop using squares there should be different shapes and sizes to make the look more interesting and customizable. At the moment I would say this is second best behind OS X and far ahead of Linux as the Computer just takes to long to boot up (which can depend on your hard drive I know) but that is no excuse the system should be up and running in seconds just like other competitors that is the main downfall with windows the speed isn't there and I don't think it ever will be quick enough.

Yes, the title says it all. When you first view it like most of us have done already, your first thoughts are something along the lines of "a repeat of Vista." However, in my opinion, I must say that looks can be deceiving. Windows 7 offers many new features that havent been seen in previous versions as well as the heightened security features that allows users to feel more comfortable with this software. As with any new software, you will run into flaws but from my experiences, I can safely say that I am happy with this software.

Windows 7 is a huge step forward. I have been using Wondows XP for 4 years and now I successfully replaced it with Win 7 and I feel more comfortable working with it. So highly recommended if you like new things to try.

Yet another one of Microsofts unfinished operating systems. The only advantage of windows is it's wide compatibility with just about anything but there are still many software faults which are just too numerous to mention in this review. Bill gates needs to get a grip and start realising the meaning of quality.

I'm afraid that the hype and marketing are a little carried away here. About the best this is that it's not Vista, though if you get a better look it really is Vista with the worst bits patched up. Then again Vista felt like a beta anyway and was too much for the hardware of the day. 7 has the benfit of faster hardware, better driver support and newer software being written for it, but it still has rough edges and many older devices and software will not work with it. It also lacks and really new features, with a OSX like dock/taskbar being the best. Aerosnap? Oh please, is that the best you can do after nine years since XP?

Windows 7 seems to address many of the complaints people had about the excruciatingly bad Windows Vista, while keeping a very similar interface. This is a step in the right direction, and the ease at which it installs and sets itself up was a pleasant suprise. Things like networking, email setup and user accounts are spot on, and the niggling account permission issues are less prominent than in Vista.
Speed-wise, if your PC can run vista without any problems, then Windows 7 won't be any different, and in some cases you may get better performance than before. It's good to see that Microsoft actually listened to what users wanted this time, but there's still plenty of room for improvement.
Vista comes with DirectX9, and might have problems running older games and software that need DirectX7 or lower, since this is only emulated in Win7, and there are plenty of driver issues to be had, particularly with NVidia graphics cards.
Is it perfect? No, far from it.. but I'd still recommend it - hopefully future updates will focus less on glossy graphics and more on functionality and compatibility.

I have always been open to using new operating systems and Windows 7 was no exception. I've used Windows Vista Home premium and I could use that easily and there was never a problem. My pc fails and I need a laptop for my work, so I spent £450.00 on a brand new laptop with Windows 7 Home Premium pre-installed. When I first booted up my laptop I was impressed smart, clean and sleek look Operating System. Now two months on I cannot stand Windows 7 It's the messiest, most unpleasant Operating System I've ever used. Programs are not running, they wont uninstall. I will not recommend this to anyone, if your after a clean, modern looking system I recommend you get Windows Vista Home Premium or Ultimate which have the similar features as Windows 7.
I do not recommend Windows 7 at all.
