Good Points: The 'on' light looks nice (That's what the '1 out of 10' is for)

Bad Points: An age to turn on. Poorly designed handset. Refuses to read certain DVD's (even brand-new) and then refuses to eject disc. Software for recording is appalling. Please read as many reviews before NOT buying this.

General comments: Whoever designed the Philips DVDR handset should find another job. Uncomfortable to hold, the buttons are unresponsive and poorly laid out. Intuitive it ain't! The fast forward and tab are the same button, resulting in no end of missed viewing. I've had this recorder for a long while, and I still have to look very closely to even find the 'Play' button. Even starting a recording is a major effort, normally ending in missing several minutes of the prog you're trying to record. I'm buying a Toshiba today, and this is going be on the business end of an angle grinder at the weekend. I wouldn't wish this recorder on my worst enemy (I asked, he didn't want it!). Avoid this like the plague.

At 18 months old only would not allow me to access the edit section, so I could not erase or finalise disks. At 14 months the eject started to play up and took 3 or 4 attempts each time to get it to open.
