Things to bear in mind - ensure your wireless transmitter is located
in an elevated or open position if possible.
Ensure the Air Port is not too enclosed by furniture/cables/equipment.
Ideally, if you are setting up for the 1st time get a Dual Band Router (2.4+5G)
rather than just 2.4G.
I found that random interference would cut the signal after 1 or 2 hrs
while using a Netgear DGN2000 - upgraded to DGND3300v2 and drop outs have gone.

Apple AirPort Express wiped all the internet settings from my laptop, took several hours to get 2 month old laptop to connect to internet, and then only with ethernet cable. complete loss of wireless on 3 out of 4 laptops. … Read Full Review
