Good Points: The location could not be better. It's just off Princes St, close to the Castle as well. There's a rooftop garden with amazing views of Edinburgh and even though it was freezing it was still great to spend some time up there. The service was very good and low key, and the place was spotless (it's just opened). Loads of space too.

Bad Points: It's billed as luxury serviced apartments so there's no bar or restaurant. Nothing else really.

General comments: 16 Waterloo Place has just opened and looks amazing. The price we paid (over £200 a night) would have got us a good room in a hotel. There were only 2 of us but the apartment could have slept 6 with 2 double bedrooms and a sofa bed. There are loads of bars and good eating places close by so the lack of them in Waterloo Place isn't that much of a bad point but it would be nice to have the option all the same. I've never stayed in serviced apartments before but after this I'll be very willing to try them again, and if there are a few of you it's a no brainer, much cheaper than multiple hotel rooms.
