I seem to be the only one out there that finds the Jacquie Lawson cards way too boring. Cliche with a capital C. The first few times I "watched" one of her ecards, honestly, I was in awe because of the artwork. That was way back when she first started. Now, about 15 years later, her cards are exactly the same. Funny. Even the yellow lab is still there! Here are some of the words I use to describe Jacquie Lawson cards: Boring Long winded Predictable Same old, same old Too slow Too long Despite being animated, not enough action Same (or similar) old music Too cliche (I'll explain) Not creative: good artwork doesn't equal creativity Not funny Not entertaining (to me) Grandma content and material Dumb endings The good: The artwork reflects great skills. The same old music is not bad music but of same genre. Why cliche? Well, take a look at her Christmas cards, for example. Snow, deer, fireplace, candles, snow covered pine trees, the yellow and/or black lab (not cliche but they need to be there always). The plot is always the same and very cliche. Why? Because they only have a handful of plots they choose from. Remember, thinking outside the box, creativity, is not a skill they possess. The worst scenario is when friends or family send you one of Jacquie Lawson's cards. They often expect a reply from you and lots of thank-you's. I can do that, no problem there, but having to sit through and watch the entire card is pure torture for me. You always feel like you are obligated to do it or you get emails from your friends or family with: "hey, didn't you get my card? you gotta open it and watch it!" And also, they really want your feedback on the card they carefully chose for you! Just lie to them folks, no need to hurt their feelings. Yes the card was rather gagging and boring, but your friend's intentions were good! One new observation that I've just made: The newest cards are worse than the old ones. As a fellow designer these cards look like a lot of cut and paste work to me. They have cheapened the cards so they can crank them out faster in the hopes that no one will notice. I've got news for you Ms Lawson and American Greetings, I noticed!

The cards may be nice, but if you goof up somehow, you can only write an email for help. I did that and it appeared they didn't even read it before they pasted a reply. They do not have phone customer service - so if you goof up, your out of luck and money.

I love the Jacquie Lawson Advent Calendars and look forward to getting my edition every year, but I was a bit disappointed with this year"s edition. There are not as many games as in previous years - no Matching Pairs or J. Lawson paintings for the jigsaws. Hopefully when the calendar gets going in December, the magic will take off, bit at the moment, I am not as thrilled as I usually am. Thank you for cheering me up every year ☃❄️

Generally the cards are good. Jacqui Lawson has a range of ecards including eleven, 4th July/US patriotic cards and nine St Patrick's day cards. They do not however have any St Georges day cards. Bearing in mind this is an English based company I think it is a poor show. I have repeatedly requested such a card but received nothing but a load of waffle. I will NOT be renewing my subscription.

People I have sent cards to have complained that their inboxes are flooded with reminders to view their JL cars if they have been away from their computers. When I tried to deliver this feedback to JL I discovered that there is NO customer service, and I wasted a lot of time trying to find it. I consider this to be a disrespectful way to treat your customers and will not renew my subscription when it runs out. Some of the cards are very good but too many are just cutesy and too traditional, and pandering to feudal ideas such as 'Downton Abbey' is just too backward. I think I'll just make my own cards and send them as attachments, it's more creative and personal.

I totally agree with all the comments about the latest Jacquie lawson advent calendar. I have purchased all the previous advent calendars & have found them to be much more interesting than this latest one. Previous ones (London & Alpine village & one other) have incorporated the daily items into the main scene, but this one has only done that on a couple of days, making the daily scene very boring. I will think twice before I order again in future years. As with previous years I also sent this calendar to a few friends & I am sure they will have been disappointed as I was on this years offering from Jacquie Lawson.

The "contact us" button on the website implies that if we have a problem that is not covered by the FAQs, there is a way to get through to Customer Service, BUT THIS IS NOT THE CASE. I have an immediate problem, have Xmas cards to send out, but THERE IS APPARENTLY NO WAY to contact Customer Service (if there is such a department} After being a member for several years, one would expect to fimd such a customer support system.

This calendar lacks the charm of the previous ones. It's boring and it seems like they got just plain lazy. The scene is very monochromatic and they haven't compensated for that tediousness with endearing animation. I am so glad I didn't give it to anyone as a gift, because after the London calendar it's a huge let-down. The big dogs are a total yawn. Day 23 is a great example of the lack of effort...could have been so much more. They're coasting.

A real disappointment--this advent calendar is so bland and uninteresting. The main "Garden" scene changes imperceptibly, none of the other rooms you can access change much either, and few of the lovely daily bits uncovered seem to get into any part of the calendar you can see on a daily basis. Like why can't we see those paper dolls, for example, or the lord and lady of the house or the children? Why is there no tree to decorate? The Samplers we are asked to do (which was fun) are nowhere to be found, but 2 were glimpsed on the day the nursery was shown, then never again. The one in the Pavillion you can see, is so tiny as to make it unrecognizable. You can't enter any of the rooms (dining room, ballroom, nursery) that you've been shown. The main scene is the worst--nothing is happening. I at least hoped that the deer and rabbits in one day's animation would show up in the garden. But no. The Pavillion tree is dim and boring. I'm sad to say I loved so much the London Christmas, and the Alpine one. This one gets deleted. The servant men in the household also have five-o'clock shadows, surely not a look that the house's employers would endorse! We need a tree to decorate, presents to wrap, or more input into the house's holiday decor. I started this calendar with glee, remembering the earlier ones. Now I'm bored with this dull household!

After being a customer for quite a few years, I wanted to add some email addressess to my address list but kept getting a message saying the address was invalid - despite copying from my address list in Outlook. I have now emailed twice for advice and - nothing. I am going to cancel my subscription.

We loved the previous Advent calendar - the London city scene. When we tried to buy it, we were told it was only for sale at iTunes, which we don't use. Bought the Edwardian Advent this year, and am disappointed. Love Jackquie's ecards, but this calendar pales in comparison to the London scene. We miss decorating our own Christmas tree early, being able to see it all month, and re-decorate it if we like. We miss all the scenes that were part of London. We won't buy this one again next year.

We have loved the two previous Alpine village calendars, and eagerly awaited this latest one (2013). Sadly it is a disappointment. The main picture of the manor remains static. No tree to decorate, no peacock in the garden, no wreath on the door....it's just boring. Although the other rooms are interesting, I would rather have a total scene build up gradually, watching for the carriage, the skiers, the excitement of Carol singers. Please next year go back to your original ideas.

I renewed my 2-year membership to Jacquie Lawson eCards a couple of weeks ago because I so enjoyed my previous 2-year membership. Today is the first time I have had a problem. I tried to send a Birthday eCard to a friend many times in the past hour. Everything goes well until I click "continue" ... then nothing happens. If I click "play again" or any other command they work; however, when I click "continue" so I can send the card, nothing happens. VERY FRUSTRATING. Prior to this I would have given Jacquie Lawson eCards a 5 star rating and I would have recommended to a friend; however, due to today's poor service, I gave 3 stars and no I would not recommend to a friend. If the problem gets resolved, I will change my rating and recommendation. I certainly hope that someone at Jacquie Lawson eCards sees this and fixes my problem.

I have tried six times, at least, to order the Edwardian Advent Calendar for family and friends. I sign in. I enter the recipient information and the number of copies. I press and orange button which says Continue and in small print to method of payment. The site takes me to another page where I have to log in again. Then it refuses to accept my log-in. Doesn't say anything, just kind of a flash and remains on the same log-in page. I have written three times. I think the answers must come from India or another country which does business out-source work. Or maybe the answers come from a robot or multiple robots. I just renewed my subscription so that isn't the problem. I am so disappointed because the cards are so lovely and I enjoyed the Advent calendar last year so much.

Some of Jacquie Lawson cards are very good particularly their Christmas cards but try to get a St. George's Day card and you are out of luck though they do plenty of St Patrick Day cards and all sorts of cards for American Independence and all the other events America celebrate. It seems England and the English subscribers pull the short straw!

THIS MORE OF A COMPLAINT THAN A REVIEW. After many years of successful use, suddenly, 3 weeks ago, although my subscription was up to date and renewed for a further 2 years early, I have been unable to send any ecards nor contact them because there is no 'SEND' or 'SUBMIT' on the relevant pages! Perhaps they read these reviews and may be able to help with my problem?

If I use Safari to try to get onto the site, it won't accept password and we around and 'round. There are zero problems when using Firefox on the same computer. People who receive these cards seem to enjoy them very much and find the sweetness refreshing in a world where many cards, especially for birthdays, are downright snarky. Sorry to read about the nil service and hope my card is not automatically charged each year.

Purchased advent calendar for myself and sent several to friends. Had to fiddle with it, but finally got it installed. Friends who don't work with computers had a horrid time. It wouldn't install. They contacted Jackie Lawson Help and were sent the FAQ, which ended up in spam folders. By the time they found the FAQ's calendar still wouldn't download or had expired. One friend's computer crashed. No help from Jackie Lawson Help Desk. Just emailed FAQ's. I tried to contact the help desk. All they do is send out FAQ's. You are on your own. The Help is a bad joke. Cards, however, are nice.

Totally agree. Also feel it isa real insult in this day of economic inequality. Where's the sensitivity of the designers?
