Good looking camera and easy to carry around or store away. Daytime photos are usually very good if you don't bother with any rapid moving objects which come out blurry. Night time outdoor shots are a bit disappointing especially if it's dark. We went on an evening Thames Cruise in London and we took lots of photos of all the sights but the results were not great as you could hardly see anything apart from light streaks and when I adjusted the settings everything came out bright and blurred. The flash is quite bright and the images are a a bit pale. To be honest my 1.3mp camera was better and also had an improved shutter speed. I paid £57 for mine which was discounted by 50% and it performed like a camera of that price. The battery life could be better too.

Shutter delay is measured in eras not seconds.
Image quality is ok if you are in the absolute optimal environment for taking photos.
If you need the flash (And trust me you will...ALL the time)your subject is going to look extremely washed out and the background will disappear.

Can't fault this Samsung D1070 camera for ease of use and general performance. I use 2800ma rechargeables and get excellent battery life. The supplied software is dead easy to use. An 8GB SD card gives more full whack photos than you could possibly use on even a long holiday, or about an hour or a half of continuous video. (Just be aware that when using a card reader instead of USB to transfer files to your computer, early card readers can't cope with a card more than 4 GB capacity, although the camera is ok with it.)
The only slight criticism I have of the camera is that the date/time imprint is somewhat chunky and I'd rather it was about half the size, as with the earlier Samsung digital camera I had.

Samsung D1070 is an excellent camera except for the 2 instances while on holiday where it has failed! Both times coincide with a change of battery, usually I use rechargeables but had to replace with normal batteries - and also being on the beach. Unsure which is causing the problem but am taking it back within its warranty for the 2nd time today.

The Samsung D1070 has fantastic clarity of picture, great features - even better price. Internal memory is poor, but a 2Gb memory card will give you over 400 high res pics (2Gb card usually costs between £10.00 and £20.00 depending on brand) For the money, you can't get much better. This will suit almost everybody's budget and everybodys requirements in a small compact camera.

Super sharp pictures, Face detection, On-Camera instructions, USB Cable, Expandable Memory, Image Stabilisation, Easy-to-use, 10.2 MP, AA Batteries...
Generally, a good buy.
