“Great All Purpose Phone”

★★★★☆

written by jeffsmithson on 16/11/2011

This phone is great for business use on the go. The email system is quick and easy to use. The qwerty keyboard is a bonus and makes typing faster. App World lets you download a massive choice of apps to enhance your phone features. Overall this is a big improvement on previous BlackBerrys, especially as there is no inefficient touchscreen to wrestle with! Battery lasts ages unless you are streaming from youtube. WiFi connection is easy t set up for free and quick internet access.

I received my delivery a day before the actual date so I was very happy with the shipping and when it arrived I was very happy with the packaging and the item itself because it was in a very good condition. Also I would recommend this seller to anyone who is not sure about buying things online :)

“Blackberry Curve 8900. What's all the hype for?”

★★★☆☆

written by chrisdel1982 on 26/06/2011

The Blackberry curve is not worth all the hype it is getting! Especially on the T-Mobile network. The coverage area is terrible. Service is lost if you get 25 miles or more from a major city. Download and upload speeds are way to slow and the memory on the phone is to small. I downloaded 3 songs and it slowed my phone down to the point that it would crsh when ever I tried to check my email. The Blackberry Curve 8900 doent offer you the tools needed to be classified as a Smart phone. I regret spending my hard earned money on it. As far as T-Mobile, they say I would need to pay an arm and a leg to upgrade to a better phone. The monthly service charge for just basic voice service is just way to high. The blackberry Curve 8900 is also very fragile. Be carful not to drop it because it will shatter into peices and then you will have to pay a fortune to get it replaced.

“Sadly not as good as an iPhone”

★★★★☆

written by on 13/06/2011

I'll start with the good points to this phone : Texting is super fast and super easy thanks to the qwerty keypad : BBM (blackberry messenger) is one of the best features of the phone, and is now what i use more than texting! : it has a good quality camera on the phone : reception is generally good : good for email some negatives : the battery life could be greatly improved, i'm lucky if i get two days before i need to recharge : internet speed is poor, even with WiFi on, it's not so slow that it makes things impossible, but does try your patience. Also cannot open Java script or other applications : The applications available for the phone are much less than other smart phones (eg iPhone) : The phone can freeze very often making it impossible to do anything, for sometimes full days Overall, i'm happy with the phone and would buy another blackberry, despite certain issues (such as internet speed and the phone freezing) being quite major issues to me.

This was my first ever Blackberry, used it for 18 months and found it very easy to use and access all my emails. The battery and internet broswer aren't excellent, but for business use it does the job.
Have now upgraded to the new Blackberry Torch which has a better batter, bigger screen and better browser, plus its touch screen and has a full qwerty keyboard so it better than an iphone i think :-)

“A Blackberry is everything it says it is on the...”

★★★★★

written by katemate on 10/10/2010

A Blackberry is everything it says it is on the packet. It is basically a computer in a mobile phone, and I find I hardly ever use my laptop anymore.
I have had minimal problems with my phone, and I have had it 7 months now, the only problem I get is that photo's sometimes don't delete until you restart the phone, which takes a very very long time.
Also, you can't save text messages, and texts are shown as instant message type conversations, but that's not really a problem. The camera is OK quality, but I wouldn't get the phone if you're looking for a good camera.
Blackeberry Messenger is a great application, it allows Blackberry users to message each other instantly, showing when the message has been delivered and read, and it's usually free with the package.
I do pay £35 a month for my phone, but it's well worth the money, and I would recommend them to anyone!

★★★★★

written by chernij on 24/04/2010

This phone has the qualities of a top-of-the-range smartphone, with one lacking feature: 3G. The keyboard is excellent, and so is the trackball. A decent camera with flash, too. There is a big collection of apps to download, and with WiFi, this phone certainly is handy. However, the lack of 3G is highly dissappointing in a phone of this quality.

“This was the very first Blackberry I bought for myself...”

★★★★☆

written by JohnCrawford on 23/02/2010

This was the very first Blackberry I bought for myself and I have been rather impressed with it. I found the functions of this phone rather easy to use, even if you are using a Blackberry for the very first time. On the downside, I did find the GPRS internet connection a little slow for general web browsing (it's a pity that the faster 3G is not supported on this phone) and I have noticed that the \"easy ball\" doesn't glide as easily as it used to (I've had this phone for 8 months now) All in all, I found this phone very helpful and easy to use. If however you want a faster connection to the internet I would suggest you go for the Blackberry 9000 series.

“So, picture the scene. You are late for work, you...”

★★★★★

written by amazz10 on 15/12/2009

So, picture the scene. You are late for work, you have forgotten to book tickets for the big match, you promised a client that you would e-mail their figures first thing, you forgot to go over the dictation notes from the previous days' big meeting and you left your Satellite Navigation system at your mums at the weekend. How are you going to do all this and still get to head office for a training course?
With the Blackberry Curve 8900 Smartphone of course!
Yes, you can do all this and more at the push of a button with the latest handset from RIM (Research In Motion).
Aside from the teenage girls who want Blackberry devices simply because Paris Hilton has one, the most common Blackberry users have been those in business. However, times are changing and with the latest device coming equipped with a 3.2mp camera (with flash), full internet access (with WI-FI) and a user friendly media feature (with album art), a whole new market has been gained.
In the past, ask any phone junkie which model they have and more often than not they would reply with Nokia, Sony-Ericsson or Samsung. Ask them why and they would list a vast array of preferences from the quality of the camera to the in-depth features of the MP3 player. Blackberry have acted on this and beefed up the 'street cred' of their new Smartphone.
To most people, a Blackberry device is an email device, which is true. You can link up to ten emails accounts to your handset and manage all your emails on the move. You can delete them from not only your phone but also your main computer too, all from your handheld. Composing emails is ridiculously easy and very, very handy at times.
Aside from its beautiful design, the first thing that strikes you about this handset is the perfectly sized QWERTY keypad. Even for those of us with chubby fingers (Me included), the keypad is big enough to type quickly on, without adding unwanted letters in the process. This is great for texting and composing e-mails on.
The familiar track ball is in attendance, allowing users to scroll quickly and smoothly through menus and web pages with ease.
The second redeeming feature of the design is the sharp, crystal clear, high resolution, 2.4inch LCD screen. The size is relative to the keypad and it allows for exactly the right amount of information to be viewable at any one time. It is also a joy to view your pictures on, which brings us to the camera.
At 3.2mp, the untrained consumer may well think that they would be better off going for one of the many 8mp camera phones out there at the minute. However, think about this. Unless you are printing your snaps onto A3 size or more, then you will be no worse off with a Curve, than you would be with a Sony Ericsson W995. It really does have a great camera and with the option of sending your shots straight to email or even straight to facebook via your phone, it really does have to be seen to be believed.
The Internet browser is a joy to use and despite the fact that it is not HSDPA, is it still pretty quick. Great news for all you facebook addicts out there is the 'facebook for Blackberry' application which you can download for free in minutes. This allows you to stay on top of every status comment as they come in as the handset notifies you of each and every new notification, literally, within seconds of their arrival. Booking tickets is a piece of cake with the large screen ideal for all your favourite websites and as I said earlier, confirmation e-mails can be sent straight to your handheld.
One of the greatest things about owning a Blackberry is the PIN service. This allows any Blackberry user in the world, to contact another via live text chat, similar to MSN, completely FREE. The only thing that you have to make sure is that your calling plan has a data bundle attached and that your Blackberry service is active.
As I stated earlier in this review, the device can come to your rescue should you ever misplace your Sat Nav, as it has a Maps feature. All phones come with a 30 day trial free in the box. Other features include a voice recorder, which comes in handy in meetings or lectures, video recorder and much more.
All in all, the Blackberry Curve 8900 Smartphone is a fantastic piece of kit, useful for all walks of life.

written by missopinion on 21/11/2009

I am not a big fan of the Blackberry Curve 8900. I dont like the fact that the phone is plastic. The battery does not last long and the reception you get with this phone can be poor. I have had this phone for a while now and I am now starting to see more problems with it.The scrolling cursor that you use to navigate around the phone gets stuck sometimes. When this happens I cant make a phone call as I cant get into my phonebook on the phone. All the other features of the phone are just ok.This is not the best phone I have had. I find it a bit disappointing and will be getting rid of it soon.

It is a sleek and sexy phone. I really love the trademark made by Blackberry on its collection. the 8900 is a new hip on its Blackberry line. The camera is not that great but handy to use on outside photo shoots.

It has many functionality and features but easy to use. I get use to it immediately

written by beproductive on 08/10/2009

Overall it was a great phone, but that is what I have come to expect from Blackberry. The functions and capability were first rate with a reasonably compact design. The only problems I had were related to the SIM card getting too hot and the batter dieing a bit sooner than I would have expected for a new phone (lasted about 1.5 years).

★★★★★

written by Taylott on 07/07/2009

I've had the Blackberry Curve 8900 for about a month now, and i can honestly say it's the best phone i've ever had. Previously i've always stuck to Nokia's, and was never interested in "Smartphones", but i decided to give the Curve a try!

It really is quite an amazing phone. The size is perfect, and fits into your pocket perfectly, not as big as the Bold. The functions are really easy to use, and navigation around the phone is seamless.

I find very useful the email functionality (take the time to set it up properly) and the calendar settings, not to mention the camera with auto focus! The battery life is good which i was quite suprised about.

If you're new to smartphones and considering getting a Blackberry, then i certainly recommend getting the Curve 8900.
