Good Points: Now over 3 years old and still going strong despite a massive amount of use which would have destroyed a lesser mouse long ago. Totally reliable - never a problem. The keys seem to be indestructible! Very precise on every surface I've tried, with no "Cursor suddenly jumps somewhere else" as I've seen with cheap mice. No maintenance required (except to wipe off finger marks occasionally). Light, good shape which is comfortable to hold, nice action on the buttons and scroll wheel. USB-PS2 adaptor included in the box.

Bad Points: I really can't think of any.

General comments: Ball mice were driving me crazy with their erratic operation and need for constant cleaning. This optical mouse was like a breath of fresh air. It works just fine under XP, but installing the Logitech Mouseware software allows you to reassign the button functions and change the cursor 'ballistics' (motion) as well as adding more cursor styles etc.
I do a lot of designing of electronic printed circuit boards, so it's critical that the cursor moves exactly where I want it to. This mouse is perfect, whether sitting on my wood veneer computer desk or my 13 year old mouse pad.
In fact I bought the later version of the Logitech Optical mouse to replace the heavy clunky Microsoft optical one on my work PC back in mid-2004, and all of the above is equally applicable to it.
To anyone who might still be using a ball mouse or an erratic cheap or clunky optical one: get a Logitech Optical. It's like stopping banging your head against a wall!

Way better than Microsoft (no problems with usage in any
program), wheel works more smoothly (my work Microsoft model
    stinks), and cheaper!!!

Pointer ALWAYS goes where I tell it. Wheel is responsive. Fits my hand well.

Everything is better than the Microsoft Intellimouse.
