“I have done 20.000 kms on mine and still ride it every...”

I have done 20.000 kms on mine and still ride it every day. It's the most economical way of transportation that I've ever had in my whole life (fuel, maintenance, etc). Yes it's slow. Yes, it's made of cheap plastic components. But it is sturdy as hell and takes you everywhere you want to go. I rode it to Scotland (from Portugal and back), 5.300 kms, in Morocco (3.250 kms) and to Asturias, Spain (1350 kms). 3 big trips, not even one single puncture. I couldn't ask for more. “The Honda Today Motorino 49 is a good little scooter...”

★★★★★

written by samgab on 24/11/2008

The Honda Today Motorino 49 is a good little scooter for short trips around town. The 4-stroke motor is really economical. I get about 150kms between 4ltr fillups. so that means it averages about 37.5 kms per litre. And there are lots of hills around where I ride.
Which brings me to the negatives:
Along a flat road, you will cruise at about 55kms, but when you get to an upwards slope, you'll slow down to 40, or even 30 if it's steep. In Auckland traffic, that's just dangerous.
The brakes leave a lot to be desired. They're both drum brakes, which isn't ideal, but as it's a small light scooter is acceptable, except for the fact that they lack feel, and judder and shake a bit, also feel like they stick on a bit, and feel spongy and dull. I asked Honda to adjust them, but they came back the same, so I guess it's not a fault with my particular scooter.
